Member of parliament for Zomba Changalume Biswick Million has lamented that  the late United Transformation Party (UTM) president Saulos Klaus Chilima advised the party legislators not move to the opposition side after his allegations of the corruption issue.

Million made this sentiment in an interview with 247 Malawi News on Friday at Parliament building.

He said during the late Vice president a on corruption case , the UTM legislators proposed to move from the opposition side  but SKC insisted that no one is  moving from the government side to opposition because they all made the current government.

He said: ” I’m sticking to my decision because of what SKC advised us that we should not move from the government to the opposition side, so now just  because he is departed,  why should we move ?.

Biswick went on to say  , Michael Usi is the vice president and that  if he is still in government then who is he to move to opposition side.

Million further said he thinks it is wise that he should stick with the vice president because of the instruction from the party late president.

The nine  UTM members of  parliament dumped the government  to the opposition side on Tuesday after the party exited the Tonse Alliance led government few months ago.

On youth empowerment, she promised to establish vocational technical training centers to equip the youth with technical skills for independence.

“Education is always at my heart. I will make sure every child goes to school, regardless of financial challenges,” she promised.

Gadama Misomali urged the constituency to vote for DPP presidential candidate Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and herself as MP for development to make strides.

Group Village Headman Lobeni appealed to Gadama Misomali to address hunger in the area, saying:

“We are struggling with hunger; please help us. We need someone who will bring development to our area.”

The rally also featured a lively debate among school leavers from the constituency on the topic “Should government make vocational education mandatory in secondary schools?”

Moderated by students from Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), the debate showcased the youth’s enthusiasm for education and development.

While DPP officials pledged their support for Mutharika and Gadama, the rally featured live performances by Joe Gwaladi, Gibo Pearson, and comedians Mada and Linda, who called for votes for Gadama.

Gwaladi, who declared himself a die-hard DPP supporter with “DPP DNA,” urged the crowd to vote for Mutharika and Gadama.

She says; “If you want development, vote for Professor Mutharika as President and Rhoda Gadama as your MP.”

Gadama Misomali, a native of Sitolo village in Mulanje Central, has outlined five key pillars for her campaign: skills development, education for all, financial independence, food security,  road network and infrastructure development.

“I understand the constituency’s needs, and I’m committed to addressing them.”

Meanwhile, a member of the Global Fund committee at the Ministry of Health who coordinated the training,Stanley Ng’oma, declined to comment on the matter.

Jumah says justice needed on Chilima’s death

By Vincent Gunde

President and Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah, says without justice on Chilima’s death the country will see no peace hence demanding a Commission of Inquiry to establish the cause of death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others.

Jumah has advised Malawians not to expect the Germans to give them another report of investigating the circumstances that led to the death of Dr. Chilima and eight others because theirs, was just an investigation into their plane crash.

Chilima

He said only the commission of inquiry to comprise of families of the deceased, UTM, the clergy, lawyers and Paramount Chiefs will give Malawians answers on the circumstances that led to the death of Dr. Chilima and eight others, on Monday, 10th June, 2024.

Speaking through the Revolutionary voice in various social media platforms, Jumah said when a government becomes dishonest, citizens and the country have no future claiming that German report has provided more questions than answers and is more than the plane crash itself.

Jumah said President Chakwera lied to the nation on the night of 10th June, 2024 that the plane got off from Lilongwe to Mzuzu and at Mzuzu, it was told to go back to Lilongwe because the weather was very bad and as it was returning back to Lilongwe, it crashed in the Chikangawa forest in Mzimba.

He said the German report has proved President Chakwera a liar that the plane did not reach Mzuzu Airport and no communication was reached to the pilots about the bad weather at the Mzuzu Airport as it was moving without Cockpit Voice Recorder (Black Box) and Flight Data Recorder.

The MRP President has claimed that the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima was a well calculated plot as evidenced with the results that are coming from German observing that there is no way the soldiers flying the military aircraft could risk the life of the Vice President.

“The MDF sent a communication to President Chakwera about the missing plane that carried Dr. Chilima to Mzuzu, “said Jumah.

He said he is in support of the rumor which is indicating that families of the deceased are to exhume the bodies of their loved ones for postmortem outside the country reminding Malawians that he alerted the UTM that families should not allow the dead body of Chilima to be lowered into the grave until the truth is established saying time has now come for the truth to prevail.

Jumah has advised families of the deceased that if the police or MDF denies them the right to exhume the dead bodies for postmortem to where they have planned, they should report this to SADC for the way forward.

He said it is the wish of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party and the entire 20 million plus people in Malawi to see to it that whether it takes long or not, the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, will not go without someone in Prison.
