Jumah, Kalindo congratulates MCP Convention winners

President and Commander in Chief of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah, has congratulated individuals who have secured positions at the August, 2024 MCP Elective Convention in Lilongwe.

Jumah said the winners have made it because they have a good behavior which is worthy and has advised the losers to go back and check their behaviors observing that a government position is not for showing bad behaviors to the citizens.

He has lamented over the behavior of some candidates found and defending themselves of dishing out money to the electorate to entice them to vote for them claiming that even President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera shared the same sentiments in his speech at the Convention.

Speaking through a Revolutionary voice in various media platforms, Jumah has expressed his deep concern over an internal elections in the MCP which resulted in switching off electricity in the Convention Room saying this has made other contesting candidates to suspect vote rigging to have taken place for the favorites to win the elections.

Jumah said it is wrong to declare that the MCP Elective Convention was free, fair, credible and transparent observing that the elections were marred with violence to the point of hacking amongst themselves.

He said what has happened at the MCP Elective Convention should be a wake-up call to Malawians that are preparing for the 2025 elections to question themselves that are the elections going to be free and fair a case in point is switching off power in the Convention Room and hackings by MCP members themselves.

“Some members and candidates are suspecting vote rigging to have taken place through switching off electricity in the Convention Room, 2025 elections will be the same,” said Jumah.

In his remarks, political activist Bon Kalindo has advised politicians to borrow a leaf from MCP Convention that not all who clap hands at politician’s eloquent speeches are for them saying others are there smiling for handouts in the form of money.

Kalindo said a lesson should be drawn by those who have lost seats at the convention that in 2025 the same situation will happen to them warning all politicians that money without good behaviors will have no impact to the poor citizens.

“MCP members have hacked amongst themselves, some fainted, congrats to Catherine Gotani-Hara, Chimwendo Banda, Dr. Jessie Kabwila and to the losers, it happens,” said Kalindo.

Dowa NGORA calls for coordination in project implementation

The Non-Governmental Organizations Regulatory Authority (NGORA) organized a stakeholders’ meeting between government sectors and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) implementing their various interventions in Dowa district.

NGORA organized the meeting from a background that in 2023/24 financial year, it held meetings with the District Council officials aimed at identifying key issues affecting the implementation and sustainability of NGO programs, one of it being lack of platforms for joint planning and feedback between NGOs and District Councils.

During the meeting, stakeholders discussed gaps in three critical areas namely, gaps in alignment of projects to the District Development Plan (DDP), monitoring and evaluation and sustainability of NGO work.

Briefing the stakeholders, NGORA’S District Monitoring and Analysis Officer for Dowa Daniel Kumbalika, encouraged stakeholders to be prioritizing coordination meetings because they will improve project implementation. 
Kumbalika said some key recommendations made during the meeting are to ensure that projects are aligned to the DDP, revamping the District Monitoring Evaluation Coordinating Committee (DMECC) to ensure that exit strategy of projects are discussed with relevant sectors before project implementation for sustainability purposes.
“NGORA has plans to be organizing coordination meetings between CSOs and District Council officials on quarterly basis through the NGO fund,” he said. 

Dowa District Council’s Director of Administration Thomas Mwafongo, informed the meeting that the council is finalizing the development of the new District Development Plan (DDP) which will be printed before the end of August, 2024 expressing hope that this will facilitate the alignment of projects to the council’s vision.

In his remarks, Dowa Civil Society Organizations Network Vice Chairperson George Kaunda, said the stakeholders meeting has revealed that the Technical Working Group (TWG) has less capacity to fulfill its obligation due to poor documentation of not reporting to relevant Directorate and Dec as well as it has less capacity to screen and monitor projects due to lack of funding.

Kaunda said these structures TWG and Dec are mandated to ensure coordinated and collaborated efforts among state actors and non-state actors for sustaining development programs which are being implemented in the district.

“The meeting among others, reiterated the importance of coordination, monitoring and evaluation of projects,” he said.

The Non-Governmental Organizations Regulatory Authority (NGORA) was established under the NGO Act 2001 with a mandate of registering and regulating the operations of all NGOs in Malawi.

Goliati Pledges Support to Cyclone Freddy Victims Amidst Football Bonanza

Mulanje South East constituency’s DPP shadow MP, Tiyamike Harold Goliati, has pledged to provide total support to the people of Mulanje South East Constituency including Senior Group Village Headman Njirambo who were affected by Cyclone Freddy in March 2023.

Goliati made this promise during the finals of the One Million Kwacha Tiyamike Goliati Football Bonanza, where he presented cash prizes to the winning teams, Matrauza Football Club and Namaja Sisters in both categories of boys and girls football, respectively.

“I am committed to supporting the people of Mulanje South East Constituency including Senior Group Village Headman Njirambo who were affected by Cyclone Freddy.

As their would-be representative, it is my duty to ensure that they receive the necessary assistance to rebuild their lives,” Goliati said.

Mathrauza Football Club emerged as champions after defeating Makwete Football Club 2-0, scoring a goal in each half while Namaja Sisters beat Bwin Sisters 2-1 in the girls football category to become the Champiins.

The match was attended by a mammoth crowd, including chiefs and DPP Party leadership from the Mulanje South East constituency.

Senior Group Village Headman Njirambo commended Goliati for keeping the youth in his area engaged through the football bonanza.

“We appreciate Goliati’s efforts in keeping our youth busy and entertained.

We assure him that we will always support him in every initiative he takes,” the chief said.

One of the players from the winning team, Matrauza Football Club, expressed his gratitude to Goliati for the prize money.

“We are thankful to Goliati for this generous prize.

It will go a long way in helping us to develop our football skills and support our families,” said the player.

Goliati’s pledge to support the Cyclone Freddy victims is a welcome move, as many families in the area are still struggling to recover from the devastating effects of the cyclone.

The football bonanza, which was attended by a very large crowd, is a testament to Goliati’s commitment to engaging with his constituents and providing them with opportunities for entertainment and development.

In addition to the prize money, Goliati also donated cash prizes to the runners-up, Makwete Football Club, as well as  the third and fourth-placed teams.

This gesture demonstrates Goliati’s dedication to supporting the youth in his constituency and promoting football development in the area.

As the people of Senior Group Village Headman Njirambo continue to rebuild their lives after the cyclone, Goliati’s pledge of support is a beacon of hope.

His commitment to his constituents is a testament to his leadership and dedication to serving the people.

Thirty two football teams, sixteen boys football teams and sixteen girls ones, took part in the bonanza.

President Chakwera urge new committee to work deligently

President Lazarus Chakwera has urged the newly elected committee to work diligently as he is assured of being re-elected into power in 2025 general elections.

Chakwera was speaking at the closing of a three-day Malawi Congress Party, (MCP) convention held at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.

He commended the deligent work shown by party candidates during the whole process as competition was stiff.

“You have demonstrated that we are a mighty party because of your commendable work, people are dumping from other parties because they are not seeing any progress, here people are still coming in large numbers because of our good leardership,” he said.

He therefore encouraged the committee to start working now in encouraging people to register in huge numbers for them to be able to vote in the coming 2025 general elections.

“I encourage you work in all areas, you need to establish good structures in all areas and make sure people are registering to vote next year,” Chakwera emphasized.

President Lazarus Chakwera has once again expressed confidence that the Malawi Congress Party will win the 2025 polls.

Chakwera said the party is stronger than any other political party in the country and that people are convinced with projects the government is initiating across the country.

Speaking during the closure of this year’s party elective convention at BICC in Lilongwe, Chakwera said the party is a hot cake to Malawians including those in opposition who are joining the party day by day, adding that the huge number of contestants on various positions to the convention clearly indicates the popularity of the party among Malawians.

“As you leave here, make sure we conduct free, fair, and credible primary elections as one way of preparing for next year’s elections which we will win on Presidency, Parliamentary, as well as for Local Government” said MCP leader while urging newly instituted NEC not to be lazy but work around the clock to make sure all committees are intact.

President Chakwera has since thanked all well wishers and its members who have helped the party with resources to conduct the convention, saying as MCP they will never use taxpayers money on party issues, but on initiatives that will benefit Malawians.
