Jumah urges citizens to deny being taken fools by politicians

President of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolution Party (MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah, has urged Malawians regardless of their political party affiliations to deny to be taken as fools by politicians claiming that 195 people cannot deceive 20 million plus people with their personal agendas.

Jumah has observed that 193 Members of Parliament (MPs) joined by two executives, President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera and his Vice, Dr. Saulosi Klaus Chilima have managed to deceive Malawians advancing their personal agendas by extending the election date to 16th September, 2025.

He said the decision to extend their terms of office by one year making it 6 years for MPs and 5 years for the President is wrong, saying Malawians could have been consulted through holding of a referendum for the citizens to speak their views.

Speaking through his face book page widely followed by millions of Malawians and Africans in the continent, Jumah said Malawians are not stupid as if they don’t have their eyes to open reminding the authorities in Malawi that the Republican Constitution is very clear that elections must be held every after 5 years.

He said it is very sad that 193 Members of Parliament (MPs) have changed the laws of Malawi with President Chakwera and his Vice, Dr. Chilima endorsing it disregarding Malawians that voted for them into the high office on the 23rd June, 2020.

The MRP President said Malawians will go to the elections on 21st May, 2024 and will not be forced to go to the polls on 16th September, 2025 describing the elections of 2025 as for the individuals advancing their personal interests in government not for 20 million people in Malawi.

‘I appeal to all patriotic Malawians to stand up so that elections must be held on 21st May, 2024 as the Constitution demands not 2025, 20 million people in Malawi cannot be deceived by 193 MPs to change the laws of the country,” said Jumah.

He assured Malawians that Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) has come in Malawi to give answers on why Malawi is still poor besides having all the resources to make it rich appealing to men and women, youths to join and support the Revolution in a quest to liberate the country.
Jumah said he is aware that there are many men, women and youth that distanced themselves from dirty politics in Malawi and are standing on the terraces watching corrupt politicians destroying the country, same time is now to join and support the Revolution.

He said MRP is a philosophy not ideology informing Malawians that they will not see a face of an individual saying it is a generational party urging those that have chosen to be on the corner because the political space has been taken by corrupt people that time is now to walk with the Revolution.

Jumah said MRP foundations are on Union of Malawi and Africa through Mindset “Change, Conformity, Law and Order, and Patriotism urging all Malawians to be with them in 2024 as they start a journey of liberation towards a better Malawi.

Chilungamo Party refutes fake news of Nankhumwa hijacking it

One of the political parties on the card of liberating the country Chilungamo Party (CP), has refuted fake news circulating on the social media which depicts it that it has been hijacked by the left wing or any possible alliance with anyone.

Social media reports linked Chilungamo Party (CP) as the next destination for Leader of Opposition in Parliament who is also Mulanje Central legislator Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa that all is set for him to launch his political party at Mgona Township in Lilongwe on 7th January, 2024.

The reports say Nankhumwa will bid bye to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) after travelling with it in court battles through injunctions against injunctions forcing the Party to be under courts issuing direction to it to postpone its elective conference slated to be held from 26th to 27th December, 2023.

According to published reports, Chilungamo Party (CP) shall have central region as its stronghold, the region which is regarded as the bedroom of the MCP where President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera got massive votes in the June, 2020 court sanctioned elections.

In a media statement addressed to comrades, its respected members, compatriots, and all Malawians of good will dated 7th January, 2024 signed by its President Comrade Alhaaj Imraan Jumbe, says the party is not in alliance with anyone and cannot be hijacked with anyone not even Dr. Kondwani Nankhumwa as is trending on the social media platforms.

“Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused, we always do appreciate your support,” reads part of the statement.

And, in his New Year’s 2024 message, Comrade Jumbe informed members that Chilungamo Party (CP) will soon be releasing a statement on their way forward as the political party which is in the making ahead on their political journey for the best interest of the people and the country.

Finance Minister Chithyola embarks on Pre-budget consultative meetings

The Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Simplex Chithyola-Banda says the budget remains an important tool in fostering economic prosperity and eradicating poverty especially now that the economy is experiencing various challenges.

Speaking on Monday morning during the kick-off of the first series of Pre-budget consultative meeting at Mount Soche in Blantyre Chithyola-Banda said it is important that all Malawians brainstorm together areas that the budget should focus on in order to promote economic growth and resilience.

“As you are all aware, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs has always prioritized the need to consult stakeholders in order to solicit views, contributions and inputs into the National Budget. In terms of the preliminary budget processes government has set out the macroeconomic framework for the 2024-25 budget that looks at the macroeconomic targets such as fiscal and monetary policy measures and the debt sustainability targets to be achieved by the end of the fiscal year.

“This follows the agreement with the IMF on an Extended Credit Facility (ECF) of up to US$174 million to help restore macroeconomic stability. Therefore government has committed, under the ECF arrangement, to implement structural reforms and prudent macroeconomic (fiscal, monetary, exchange rate) policies and debt restructuring,” Chithyola-Banda said.

In its contribution the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) said government should prioritize renegotiation of high cost debts to reduce interests payments in order to reduce the debt burden.

ICAM Chief Executive Officer Noel Zigowa said government should revise income tax on companies and individuals involved in primary agriculture from 30 percent to 10 percent to enhance productivity.

Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) director of business environment Madalitso Kazembe said the economic environment in the country continues to be challenging due to shocks the country experienced.

“Government should contain the budget deficit and allocate enough resources to fight corruption and smuggling. Government should also provide incentives to companies that use local raw materials for production,” she said.

Member of Parliament for Kasungu North East Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima has on Sunday donated K10 million to Thumba CCAP in the area of Senior Chief Wimbe in Kasungu for the construction of a new church house.

Presenting the donation, Wirima who is also Minister of Education said she felt obliged to donate after being impressed by the effort Christians at the church have made towards the project.

Among other things, the Christians mobilized bricks and start up cement for the project.

“As someone who comes from this area, I felt obliged to help in the project, to seek the blessings of God and we will keep supporting them until their dream of a new church house is accomplished,” said Wirima.

She urged people to alway invest in churches because they are a key stakeholder in human development and the society.

Receiving the donation, the resident minister of Thumba CCAP, Reverend Berson Magombo, thanked the MP for fulfilling her pledge.

“We thank you, and may God bless you. We have been trying but due to financial constraints, the project was delayed so this is a huge boost,” said Reverend Magombo.

The project is estimated to cost slightly over K100 million.

Thumba CCAP was opened in 1946.

MCP strategies getting hold of Southern Region

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) seems to be leaving no stone unturned as far as winning 2025 elections is concerned, strategically concentrating on rallies in all the three regions of the country.

With the 50%+1 enactment of the law to determine the winning President during elections, political parties need to grab vital votes in regions they have never been popular while focusing on keeping intact the votes in their strongholds.



Recent strategy by Malawi Congress Party to strengthen the central region while intensifying its rallies in the South and North, spelling out government projects Chakwera-led administration is initiating across the country seems to positively favor the party.

Taking the MCP brand to Migowi in Phalombe on Sunday, 7th January 2024, it was clear that Phalombe which is among the districts that have been difficult for MCP to penetrate is gradually becoming a darling for the party and its leadership.

Speaking during the rally at Migowi Primary School ground for the people of Phalombe to appreciate the servant leadership of President Lazarus Chakwera, Director of Strategic Planning in MCP, *Ken Zikhale Ng’oma* told the gathering that withstood the rains to hear for themselves the message from MCP that *President Lazarus Chakwera* has moved the country’s politics away from being regionalistic to national for development of the country.

“President Chakwera is distributing developments in all parts of the country because he is not practicing the politics of regionalism and would like to see every Malawian including you from Phalombe being beneficiaries to government initiated projects. This is why Phalombe District Hospital was quickly completed as one of the priorities when he won the Presidential election in 2020, after a long time of the project failing to be completed” Said Ng’oma who is also Minister of Homeland Security.

Further, Ng’oma applauded people of Migowi for their determination to hear what government has for them regardless of heavy rains that fell during the rally.

In her remarks, Senior Chief Kaduya commended Zikhale Ng’oma and MCP for conducting the rally at Migowi, saying it gives hope and encouragement that President Chakwera is promoting unity and has the welfare of the people for the area at heart.

She then requested the government to consider elevating other chiefs in her area for easy discharging of duties and quick spread of developments that President Chakwera is championing in the area and across the country.

Among senior officials who attended the rally include the party’s National Deputy Publicity Secretary, Kondi Msungama, Deputy Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs, Fredrick Mkalangiza, and MCP’ Regional Chairman for South, Peter Simbi.
