President Dr Lazarus  Chakwera has reiterated  government’s commitment to developing the country by expanding road networks to support farmers nationwide.

Speaking today during a development rally at Ndaula Primary School Ground in the area of Senior Chief Masumbankhunda in Lilongwe, he underscored the importance of these road networks in aiding smallholder farmers, the backbone of the economy, in transporting their produce to markets.

President Chakwera also stressed his administration’s dedication to fostering development across all regions of the country, highlighting unity as a key driver of progress.

In addition, he urged Malawians to uphold cultural values, show love for others, and refrain from envy and jealousy to promote national advancement.
Furthermore, President Chakwera called on human rights groups to assist in protecting the elderly who face accusations of witchcraft and are victims of mob justice.

Minister of Transport and Public Works, Jacob Hara, commended President Chakwera for the country’s high score in an assessment conducted by the American Government before the Millennium Challenges Corporation (MCC) was granted, demonstrating the rule of law.

Hara assured that the government, through the Ministry of Local Government Unity and Culture, will take full responsibility for ensuring the sustainability of the constructed roads. He also disclosed that the recommissioning of railway systems across the country is likely to improve the country’s transportation system.

He further said  his ministry is actively constructing numerous roads across all regions to drive the country’s development, an initiative deserving appreciation.

Malawi Congress Party Secretary General, Eisenhower Mkaka, Commended President Chakwera for his statesmanship and visionary leadership, which has garnered donor confidence and support.

Member of Parliament for Lilongwe South Constituency, Peter Dimba, expressed optimism that the road project will enhance the welfare of communities in his constituency and facilitate trade and transportation growth.

Senior Chief Masumbankhunda, expressed satisfaction with President Chakwera’s good governance, citing various development initiatives aimed at improving socio-economic livelihoods and enhancing agricultural systems to ensure food security.
