“But I did not have enough capital to start the catering service. What is important is that I still have the business idea; selling chips is just a way how I can get to the dream,” she said.

Speaking during the check presentation on Sunday at Area 25, where she operates her business, M’bwana shared her remarkable story;

“My single frying unit chiwaya, generates not less than K6,000 a day, translating to K180,000 monthly.” said M’bwana.

She added that with the support from Mpanganjira, she plans to expand her operations by acquiring four additional friers, which she expects will cumulatively earn her K900,000 per month.

M’bwana’s ultimate vision is to establish a reputable restaurant in the city, and with her determination and the support she has received, she is well on her way to achieving her goal.

Ephraim Nyondo, who presented the check on behalf of Mpanganjira, encouraged the youth to continue dreaming big.

“This shows that we have more youth willing to venture, which is what we intend to achieve with the Triephornia Thompson Mpanganjira K1 million challenge,” he said.

So far, M’bwana is the third winner, following two other youths from Nsanje and Nkhotakota.

The program targets 18 youth with ideas without monetary capital.
