Jumah advises Chakwera not to accuse DPP for his own mess

0

By Vincent Gunde

Pioneer of Muvi wa Chilungamo visionary news, Bantu Saunders Jumah, has advised President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to stop accusing the main opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for creating a mess the country is facing today.

In his recent national address, President Chakwera warned all those who are in the position of leadership and who know that they are responsible for creating the mess the country is in that he will deal with them soon enough.

Jumah has, however, asked Chakwera to instead threaten officials in his own government and himself for the mess the country is in today observing that lack of physical financial discipline and rampant corruption have created the mess in his government.

Speaking through his face book page followed by millions of people in Malawi and Africa, Jumah has pleaded with President Chakwera to stop blaming the DPP for the mess in government reminding him that DPP and Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika did not send him to borrow K8 trillion in his 3 years he has been in government.

Jumah said it is sad that President Chakwera each and every time has been blaming the DPP for every mistake in his government advising him to learn from his mistakes by accepting the wrong and do what is right for the citizens to restore their lost trust in him.

He observed that President Chakwera is failing to point a figure at himself, his Vice Dr. Saulosi Chilima and Cabinet Ministers who are also doing the same saying no wonder that they are all in jovial mood celebrating Extended Credit Facility (ECF) from the IMF for an early Christmas.

The Muvi Visionary news Pioneer has therefore, reminded Malawians that in 2006 during the reign of the DPP under Professor Bingu wa Mutharika, IMF and World Bank wrote-off Malawi’s debts and because of over excitement for landslide victory in 2009, Professor Bingu wa Mutharika started borrowing money from the international community.

He said from 2009-2019 the three leaders: Professor Bingu wa Mutharika, Madam Dr. Joyce Banda and Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika borrowed from the international community K3,16 trillion in public debts.

Jumah said from June, 2020 to 16th November, 2023 the MCP government under President Chakwera squandered K5,18 trillion with no visible project on the ground claiming that this is minus Makanjira Road project by Saudi Fund and IMF’s Extended Credit Facility Programme worth US$174 million.

“The IMF and World Bank have opened the doors to chain Malawi pushing public debts to K8 Trillion and with K3,16 trillion left by three governments, the debts have reached over K11 trillion,” said Jumah.

He expressed fears that by the election date in September, 2025 the public debts will be over K15 trillion warning Malawians that the IMF and World Bank can do any means to come back and write-off the country’s debts after 2006.

Jumah has liken the MCP as a bad carpenter who always blame his tools advising President Chakwera that if he need development in Malawi, the first enabler is mindset change that K8 trillion public debts was not borrowed by the DPP.

Munlo says Chakwera has no solution to Malawi’s economy

By Vincent Gunde

Leader of Mass Movement for Economic Revolution who is also Commandant and Secretary General of Malawi First Comrade Redson Munlo, says President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has no solution to the country’s dwindling economy.

Munlo said President Chakwera from June, 2020 has been going through Try and Error which has seen the Malawi Kwacha losing its value against the American Dollar speaking for itself that he has totally failed in the principles of economics.

He said the issue of fuel has been not resolved since President Chakwera came to power in June, 2020 saying this also applies to Affordable Input Programme (AIP) which has not produced the most intended results of food security in Malawi.

Speaking through an audio clip circulating in various social media platforms, Munlo said the devaluation of the Malawi Kwacha by 44 percent has affected many Malawians completely shuttering their hopes that they have a President to look after their welfare.

Munlo said 44 percent devaluation of the Kwacha is time of crying over Malawi particularly for civil servants saying the government of the MCP cannot raise civil servants’ salaries by 44 percent a development which is worrisome to all.

He said President Chakwera has for 3 years failed to change Malawi and is remaining with 2 years which is almost impossible to change claiming that the endless issues of no medicines in hospitals, forex, fuel, salaries to civil servants will remain a challenge as long as Chakwera continues ruling the country.

The Activist said President Chakwera has failed and is the solution to the country’s problems, he must leave office for the country to move forward claiming that Malawians do not need him to change things, he has failed.

“Chakwera has no clue on how government business is run saying time is now for him to resign honorably by himself or waiting for the 2025 vote or Malawians will force him to resign, Malawians have lost trust in him as their President,” said Munlo.

Munlo has observed that some Malawians are working to misguide fellow Malawians that elections be held on 21st May, 2024 not September, 2025 reminding Malawians that in 2020 a Bill was tabled in Parliament, this was passed into law with the President’s signature and the Ministry of Justice gazetted it in the Republican Constitution.

He has since urged Malawians to fight so hard that the bill be brought back to Parliament to change the election date with a warning that failure by Parliament to deliberate on the date, elections date still stands September, 2025.

Kabambe tells Tonse Alliance administration to focus on production for Malawi to sustain its foreign reserves

The Former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dalitso Kabambe has tipped Tonse Alliance administration to focus more on production for Malawi to sustain its foreign reserves.

Speaking at a press briefing organized by former Malawi leader and President for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Arthur Peter Mutharika on Friday at his Page House in Mangochi, Kabambe suggested promoting increased production to satisfy global demand for tobacco as one way to generate more forex.

He said it is sad that nowadays people who bring in more forex into the country, including tobacco and cotton farmers, are suffering and not enjoying the fruits of their labour.

Kabambe

The RBM Governor said the current government led by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera lacks sound leadership pointing at among other things, increased borrowing and a bloated budget.

He described government excitement over Extended Credit Facility (ECF) as worrisome, as the country cannot be celebrating after getting loans.

According to him, loans are short term, and the country needs to start looking for long term solutions.

“Nzomvetsa chisoni kuti nduna za boma komanso m’tsogoleri wa dziko lino akumanyadira chifukwa dziko lino lalandira ngongole kuchokera ku bungwe la IMF.Ngongole si chinthu choti dziko lino lizinyadira kuti lalandira,” said Kabambe.

Taking his turn, DPP Vice-President for the Eastern Region Bright Msaka said it is utter disrespect to tell people that the country is well governed when people keep spending hours on fuel queues.

He mentioned that people are failing to pay school fees for their children, failing to buy fertiliser and even meet their basic needs.

Msaka said for one to decide to be a leader, you need to be sure.

He said there is trial and error in the running of affairs of government including selection of people to work in various positions.

He further queried why Chakwera was not listening from way back, to calls for him to cut his travels and only to acknowledge now when he decided to stop his international trips.

Mutharika tells Chakwera to fix ailing economy

By Chisomo Phiri

Former President Arthur Peter Mutharika, who is also leader for the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has demanded that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera should immediately fix the country’s ailing economy like the way he did when he was leader of the country.

Speaking at a press briefing he organized on Friday at his Page House in Mangochi, Mutharika said during his time as president, he managed to improve the economy tenfold unlike Chakwera’s government, which is spending money through frequent traveling.

Mutharika

The former Malawi leader blamed Chakwera’s government for allowing the 44 percent devaluation, saying it is not a solution, but is killing Malawians who are very poor.

“This agony, misery we are facing is intolerable and we need solutions with immediate effect,”said Mutharika.

He said the Tonse Alliance government is bent on nothing but self-enrichment and nepotism.

He said: ”The Chakwera administration has mismanaged this economy as the 44% is coming at the back of another 20% devaluation done last year.

“The Malawi kwacha has become a valueless currency. We are buried under the rubble of poverty.”

The former president accused President Lazarus Chakwera’s administration of being clueless, saying so far it has borrowed K8 trillion against DPP’s 1.8 trillion in six years.

Mutharika further said the current administration is busy borrowing and spending on trivial things including unimportant foreign trips.

The DPP leader said the party left an import cover of 6 months but now is at 10 days.

He said the Affordable Inputs (AIP) Programme is currently in a mess and there is need for President Chakwera to quickly provide solutions to the challenges affecting the programme.

Mutharika also described Chakwera’s recently announced austerity measures in the wake of the harsh 44 percent kwacha devaluation as merely cosmetic.

He said nothing will come out of these measures to rescue the poor citizens; stressing Chakwera only talks but fails to implement.

Mutharika then advised President Lazarus Chakwera to reduce the number of presidential advisors from 23 to five, saying advisors are a complete waste of money.

“The advisors do nothing. I was there when Bingu was president and I was president for 6 years and I did not receive a single memo on any matter from an advisor,” said Mutharika, adding that he had five advisors and 20 ministers when he left the government.

Among other DPP senior officials that attended the briefing include former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dalitso Kabambe, DPP Eastern Region Vice President Bright Nsaka and Administrative Secretary Francis Mphepo.
