Researcher Kondwani Monjeza publishes book ‘ Mastering Business Research’

One of the country’s renowned researchers Kondwani Monjeza has published a book titled ‘Mastering Business Research’.

The book is a practical guide to scholars and practitioners.

Speaking in an interview with 247 Malawi News, the author said the main message of his book is to provide a comprehensive resource for researchers, professionals, and students in the field of business.

He said the book also offers a step-by-step exploration of the research process, bridging the gap between theory and practice.

Said Monjeza:”The book empowers readers with the necessary tools and insights to conduct rigorous and impactful research.

“It brings the research theory in a context, making it easy to understand. It helps those doing research to do it professionally.”

Asked what motivated him to write the book, the author said:”The desire to share my extensive background in both academia and business consulting.

“I wanted to offer a resource that combines practical applications with theoretical foundations, helping individuals enhance their research skills and contribute meaningfully to the dynamic field of business.

“Since I have been offering consultancy services to various scholars, I noticed that most of them just do research as a mandatory requirement by their colleges/universities.”

He said the book was released on June 7, 2023 and is soon expected to be available on Amazon and other online platforms.

About the Author

Kondwani Monjeza is a versatile business professional and academician with a deep passion for research.

He is currently pursuing two MBA degrees in International Business and Information Technology Management in India.

Monjeza also holds a BBA-Management from Malawi Adventist University and a Certificate in Computing and Information systems.

He is the Managing Director for EPIK Research Consultancy, with over 5 years of experience as a research and business consultant, bringing a unique blend of practical industry knowledge and academic expertise to his work.

His journey as a writer started when he was studying at Malawi Adventist University in 2017 where he designed and contributed to the MAU student magazine.

In 2021, he wrote an article on his dissertation which was published in Malawi Stock Exchange(MSE) Magazine, 5th Edition.

MDF wins Zimbabwe Defence Force Cup

Malawi Defence Force (MDF) are the champions of the 2023 Zimbabwe Defence Force Cup after beating the hots ‘Zimbabwe’ 1-0 at Zimbabwe National Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Hassan Upindi was the hero of the day as he scored the only goal of the match in the 78th minute after he connected with a header a cross from Gastin Simkonda.

MDF, which is being represented by Moyale Barracks, recieved $9000 (about K9 million) for winning the competition.

Last time an MDF side took part in a similar event was in 2019 when the team finished second after losing to ZDF.

The transfer window closed on Monday midnight, August 14 and it was a busy final day for teams as Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Silver Strikers failed to sign Flames midfielder Lloyd Aaron.

The Nomads and the central bankers failed to agree terms with Civil Service United to sign the midfielder on loan.

On Sunday, the Nomads pulled out of the deal after they were notified that the player is available for 20 million kwacha through a virtual meeting and Silver Strikers were the only side with a chance to sign the player.

A day later, Silver also pulled out from the deal as they were let down by the asking amount which Civil set on the 20-year-old.

This unturn promoted Wanderers to re-open the negotiations with Civil for a loan deal this time around but still failed to agree terms before midnight.

In other transfer news, Civil Service United have signed defender Harry Nyirenda and midfielder Frank Banda as free agents

Nyirenda left Ekwendeni Hammers recently whereas Banda was released at Silver Strikers early this year.

Another super league team which was busy on the transfer deadline day is Extreme FC.

The Mchinji-based side has signed five players which includes; Foster Beaton, formerly of Blue Eagles and Silver Strikers, Mphatso Dzongololo, Willard Dickson from Civil Service United, Jaffali John from Silver Strikers Reserve and Stephano George from Villa FC.

Chakwera popularity goes beyond Malawi borders

Malawi President is trending in one of Nigeria’s major newspaper This Today. This is not an ordinary paper but has huge following and large circulation.

In the articles which is trending in Nigeria, Chakwera is seen discussing with Airtel Africa Group CEO and Managing Director Dr. Olusegun Ogunsanya.

President Chakwera met Dr Ogunsanya at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe few days ago.

During the meeting Dr Ogunsanya pledged on behalf of his company to boost investments in Malawi in line with digitalization agenda.

Dr. Ogunsanya pledged the firm’s full support to Malawi in achieving the benchmark of not less than 20% internet access by 2030 as per the Malawi 2063 Implementation Plan 1 (MIP1).

This is what President Chakwera said verbatim: “In the quest to become a self-reliant and industrialized middle income economy, Malawi will count on digital technologies that create new value of its economic system thereby facilitating the creation of sustainable wealth and jobs.”

Chakwera said they have agreed to continue growing business: “We have agreed to continue growing our government-to-business partnership so that we create meaningful socioeconomic value for all Malawians via pro-growth modern digital services.”

Shabir Jussab faces assault case

Police in Blantyre have recorded one more case against Mohamed Shabir Salim Jussab, who is already wanted on another crime, but this time around facing an assault charge.

Malawi Police Service earlier placed Jussab on Interpol Red Alert for alleged cyber harassment.

Stainford Kalitsilira, 72, who was working as a driver at Jussab’s company in Limbe, RR Trading, lodged a complaint at Blantyre Police Station that his boss assaulted him when he was demanding for his pay after he was fired.

South West Region Police Headquarters spokesperson Beatrice Mikuwa confirmed in a response to a questionnaire of the assault charge, adding investigations were underway.

Police earlier last week obtained a warrant of arrest against Jussab, a resident of Mandala, for the alleged cyber harassment offences, contrary to section 86(b) of the Electronic Transaction and Cyber Security Act.

In the assault case, the fired driver, Kalitsilira, told police he was assaulted by Jussab at RR Trading in Limbe on July 16 2023 when he was on duty.

He said when he returned at the office from an assignment, he was accused of wrongly parking a car by his boss Shabir, who later on assaulted him and told him he was fired.

In an interview Kalitsilira said he was rescued by onlookers, adding apart from the physical assault, Shabir also called him “a slave” (Kapolo) and insulted his father.

Police, according to the warrant of arrest we have seen on the cyber harassment, alleges that between the month of July and August 2023, in the District of Blantyre, Jussab used his computer system to send out messages threatening to inflict injury to Abdul Karim Batatawala and other members of his family with no purpose of legitimate communication.

Particulars further allege that Jussab, between the same dates, willfully and repeatedly used WhatsApp messages to disturb or attempt to disturb the peace, quietness or right to privacy of Batatawala and his family members.
