The Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) has released names of twenty one Malawi Queens players to go into residential camp to prepare for the forthcoming 2023 Vitality Netball World Cup slated for July 28 to August 6 in Cape Town, South Africa.
According to a statement released by NAM Technical Director Samuel Kanyenda, signed by General Secretary Isaac Chimwala, foreign based players Mwawi Kumwenda, Joyce Mvula, Caroline Mtukule and Towera Vinkhumbo are amongst those that have been called into camp.
All players and team officials are expected to report to NAM offices located at Bingu National Stadium (BNS) in Lilongwe by 4 June, 2023.
The statement further states that foreign based players will join the camp once they have arrived in the country.
Oasis Brands, in collaboration with Nxtgen Labs and Save the Children, on Tuesday hosted an exceptional ‘Startup Branding Workshop’ in the Malawi’s capital city, Lilongwe aimed at inspiring and motivating the participants to revolutionize their business endeavors.

Among others,the participants( entrepreneurs) explored the vast potential of effective branding as a catalyst for success and through harnessing the power of storytelling and strategic marketing, they were also equipped with the tools necessary to captivate their target audience and create lasting impressions.
In one of his insightful presentations, Khonje, the visionary behind Oasis Brands, emphasized the importance of startups going beyond developing innovative products and services.
He stressed the need for entrepreneurs to prioritize building globally recognizable brands, which resonate with customers on a profound level.
Khonje’s words resonated deeply with the participants, inspiring them to transcend traditional notions of entrepreneurship and strive for greatness.

On his part,Chrispine Botha, Innovations Manager at Save the Children related the Future Malawi project as FUTURE-Malawi project hackathon which Save the Children Malawi once conducted with the support of its partner, Mzuzu E-Hub.
“During this incubation period, the young innovators shall have access to the innovation lab’s specialistic equipment, emerging technologies, digital infrastructure, technical support, and mentorship.
“They will also be introduced to the digital innovation ecosystem and shall have the opportunity to network with people in practice,” he said.
One participant, Naomi Rachel Kambeja, an Administrator from Inspire Learn, initially joined the workshop to enhance her knowledge of branding for her new role.
She however, thanked Oasis Brands for the workshop saying with a newfound determination and skills gained from the workshop, she will embark on her own entrepreneurial journey and build one of the greatest brands in Malawi.
“The workshop not only expanded my understanding of branding but also ignited a fire within me to take control of my own destiny,” expressed Kambeja.

President Emerson Mnangagwa has on Wednesday, 31st May, 2023 arrived in the country via Kamuzu International Airport.
Mnangagwa was welcomed at the airport by President Lazarus Chakwera, government officials, the clergy, traditional chiefs, and members of Tonse Alliance upon his arrival in the afternoon.
Zimbabwe President is in the country for among others to hold bilateral talks with his counterpart, Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi where they will discuss wide range of issues including trade, investment,regional security, and cooperation in various sectors to strengthen the relationship that exists between the two sister nations.
The Zimbabwean President is also expected to visit the Malawi Parliament where he will engage dialogue with Malawian lawmakers, and have interface with the Zimbabweans living in Malawi.
Further, the two leaders are expected to hold a joint visit to the Southern Region of Malawi, particularly the districts of Mangochi, Blantyre, and Thyolo to assess and appreciate the aftermath of Cyclone Freddy, demonstrating solidarity and support in times of natural disaster.
While in the country, Mnangagwa will also visit Auction Floors, and Kamuzu Mausoleum where he is to pay tribute to the Malawi’s first President, late Hastings Kamuzu Banda.
The visit by President Mnangagwa marks significant steps towards fostering regional cooperation, strengthening bilateral relations, and promoting mutual understanding between the two countries.
Upon his arrival, Mnangagwa was presented with a symbolic key as a citizen of Lilongwe City at an event that took place at Civic Offices in the Capital City.
One of the country’s renowned self-acclaimed prophets prophet David Mbewe has announced that he has resigned as president and member of Freedom of Worship and Economics Liberation(FOWEL) effective 30 days from June 1,2023.
On top,Mbewe says, he has also stepped down as a president and trustee chairperson of the Prophetic Ministries Association of Malawi(PMAM).
But according to his two separate resignation letters addressed to trustees of the two bodies,Mbewe who is the founder of Living Word Evangelistic Church (LWEC) has not specified the reasons for his resignations.
Prophet David Mbewe is well known to many for his Shalom Mount Valley in Machinga.
The self-acclaimed prophet once shocked many Malawians including his church followers when he announced his intentions to contest at the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) convention for the position of president.
One of the country’s renowned female singers Estiner Katengeza will on Thursday June 1,2023 perform at Sounds of Malawi, a weekly acoustic music session held at Jacaranda Cultural Center in Blantyre; every Thursday.
In an interview, the Malawi’s popular gospel singer said, hosted by Waliko Makhala, the performance will start from 6:30PM to 8:00 PM and that the price at door K4,000 per person.
“It will be a nice performance from me and I have lined up some more good music for the attendees to enjoy. There will also be musician Snowden Ibu performing,” she said.
The singer urged many people including her music fans to come and enjoy her performance at the session.
“I am calling everyone who is free on Thursday evening to come and enjoy my performance.”
Estiner is one of the most well known female artists in Malawi.
She came on to the Malawi music scene in 2008 when she released the 10-song album “Zili bwino” whose title shot her to fame and continues to enjoy massive airplay.
The singer double-launched the Zili bwino CD and DVD in 2010 in her resident city of Blantyre.
Estiner released and launched a second 10-song album in 2012, and she also has three popular singles ‘Made for you’, ‘Chete Moyo wanga’, and ‘Kwacha ‘ which she produced between 2015 and 2018.
The singer and songwriter sings gospel with a voice, lyrics, and presentation that are reminiscent of the genre yet uniquely distinctive to her.
