Govt urged to promote motorsport

The government has been urged to promote motorsport (spinning) in the country.

Speaking on Saturday in Chilobwe, Blantyre, Spinners Nest Motorsport Chairman Geoffrey Jarid said the motorsport in Malawi continues facing a lot of challenges such as lack of spaces where the sport can be taking place and lack of sponsors.

“Motorsport in Malawi continues facing a lot of challenges. Currently, we do not have a place where we can be doing the sport. This challenge is dragging us behind. Lack of sponsors is another challenge which is hugely affecting us. We therefore, calling the government to consider motorsport (spinning) and support its growth,” said Jarid.



He said as a group, they are currently, under monitoring period by authorities and they have hope to make Malawi a motorsport-spinning playing nation.

On his part, a spinner and a member of Spinners Nest Motorsport, Blessings Malemba expressed happiness that motorsport (spinning) is now in Malawi.

“To be true, I am happy that we now have motorsport in Malawi. We just calling on the government to give it support as the chairman said,”he said.

In Africa, Motorsport is played in many countries such as Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa just to mention some.

The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Africa region continues celebrating the classic confidence Timothy Pagonachi Mtambo demonstrated at the 2023 Universal Peace Federation Conference in Seoul, South Korea in April early this year.

According to TikTok Channel: @upf_africa, the Malawian human rights activist-cum-politician is amassing an overwhelming global acclaim following his magical and remarkable nuclear contribution he dropped at the annual event.

A composed lion-like Mtambo in the fiery TikTok preaches, “My emphasis is on the spiritual realm of a human being as a student of Divine Principles. My point is: the United Nations response to conflicts is basically physical. As UPF we address a human being holistically – soul, spirit and body – The UN only addresses the physical body while as UPF we target wholesome reformation of the soul and spirit which is fundamental for attainment of peace, love and justice.”

Timothy Mtambo, 39, is one of the most powerful reformation advocates on the international scenes having spanned for nearly two decades championing observance of principles of justice and fairness.

The Universal Peace Federation is a brain child of True Parents, Father of Peace, the late Reverend Dr. Sun Myung Moon and his devotional wife, Mother of Peace, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon of South Korea.

Min of Gender Jean Sendeza donates K3.5Million Christmas food items to elderly and people with disabilities in her constituency

It was all smiles in the area of Village Headman Mgwata within the area of Senior Chief Malili in Lilongwe when the Minister of Gender , Disabilities and Community Service Jean Muonaowauza Sendeza spend time with her peple who voted her into power as well as those who voted President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera as president of this country.

Sendeza handedover different food items to people of the area and cash on top. The items include maize flour, sugar, soap and tea leaves.

In her speech Sendeza said she decided to come to and donates these items as one way of celebrating Christmas. She said Christmas means sharing gifts with loved ones.

On political scene, Sendeza commended Malawi Leader Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera for various safety nets programs taking place in her constituency.

Sendeza said people in her area should not be misled by those talking bad of the President.

The Minister said Chakwera has made tremendous achievements despite his Government operating in a hostile environment.

Sendeza gave an example on how Mtukula pakhomo has helped to change the lives of people in her area.

Commenting on hunger situation, the Minister assured people in her area that as President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has always been saying , no one will die of hunger.

She said Government will be distributing maize to every hunger striken person.

Meanwhile Village headman Mgwata has commended the Minister for the support.

The chief said his people did not expect that guesture from the Minister especially during this time of Christmas..

The headman urged the Minister to continue helping the less privileged as she has done.

Grevaziyo Mazoni , Felekesi Jekeseni all from the area commended the Member of Parliament for the timely donation.

Lilongwe City Mayor Councilor Richard Banda splashes Christmas Gifts to the people of Mlodza ConstituencySays he will stand as Member of Parliament for the area

Lilongwe City Mayor Councilor Richard Banda on Friday gave out different Christmas gifts to inform the people of the newly demarcated Mlodza Constituency.

He said Christmas means sharing. Banda also implored people in the city to ensure they celebrate this year’s Christmas and new year responsibly among others avoiding alcohol abuse. Banda urged those that will be celebrating to ensure they do not destroy public infrastructure or other peoples property.

During the event, the Lilongwe city mayor who also announced his ambitions to contest as legislator for the area in 2025 general elections presented Christmas gifts in form of cash to the people who attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Constituency’s chairperson Hadwell Kachibekete urged MCP followers in the area to remain United and continue supporting government development agenda under the President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera.

He also cautioned leaders against deviding party members in the area.

He says no one owns the constituency and that it belongs to everyone and everyone is free to stand.

“That is why I am saying, that I will stand and no one should doubt about it,” he said.

NBM gives MBTS K80 million for procurement of blood bank fridges

The country’s top financial institution National Bank of Malawi plc (NBM) has on Friday given K80 million to the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS) for the procurement of blood bank fridges that will be placed in Mulanje and Mangochi district hospitals.

In a statement, NBM plc Chief Executive Officer(CEO) MacFussy Kawawa says the donation signifies the importance the Malawi Stock Exchange(MSE) listed bank places on the health and well-being of the people of Malawi.



“The blood bank fridges will have an impact on the lives of two million people in Mulanje and Mangochi districts.

“The timely and safe transportation of blood has been a critical challenge for Malawi Blood Transfusion Service,” says Kawawa in a statement.

On her part, MBTS CEO Natasha Nsamala says the donation will not only help the three districts, but also the whole country.

“The donation will help us to provide safe and adequate blood and blood products to hospitals that are required to carry out blood transfusion,” she says.

According to Nsamala, the blood bank fridges will reduce the distance taken to collect blood in Blantyre.

She says with the NBM support, they will achieve their mission of supplying safe blood to the people.

MBTS collects 100 000 units of blood annually, according to Nsamala.
