Gospel songstress Gloria Macheka set to release ‘Chikondi Cha Yesu’

A fast-rising gospel singer Gloria Macheka will tomorrow May 19,2023 drop her another gospel song titled’ Chikondi Cha Yesu’.

The song is both in audio and video form.

In an interview, Macheka explained that the new song is talking more about the unconditional love that Jesus Christ has on everyone.

“My new song is dedicated to spreading the message of love that Jesus Christ has on us his people.

“There is no true love besides the love of Jesus. The Jesus love surpasses all.



“The world is full of fake love. You can have friends or family whom you think are true, but they dessert you in difficult times. Only the love of Jesus is unconditional,” explained Macheka.

She said the song has been produced at one of the Blantyre’s best music studios Don Foxxy records in Chirimba.

Asked on what her fans should expect this year, the female gospel singer said: ” There are a lot of good music projects this year. Currently, I am about to shoot two more videos, one in July and the other one in October. So, yes, they should expect more good things from me as their beloved female artist.”

She then urged her fellow gospel musicians in the country to obey God and always be humble in whatsoever they are doing.

“To my fellow gospel singers, let us always be truthful before the Lord and be humble,” she urged.

Macheka started composing and singing her own gospel songs back away when she was in Sunday School.

She is currently working on an album which has 10 gospel songs.

She is inspired by Minister Victoria Orenze from Nigeria and Jerkalyn carr from United States of America ( USA).

The singer is well known to many by her songs such as Moyo watsopano,Ambuye ndiwabwino and Batumeyo.

Chakwera bemoans political intolerance among the youths

President Lazarus Chakwera on Wednesday, 17th May,2023 strongly condemned the behavior of intolerance among the youths of political parties within his Tonse Alliance which happened during the time he officially went to open the newly built Malawi Bureau of Standards Complex and commission this year’s Malawi International Trade Fair in the commercial city of Blantyre.

Speaking at Kamuzu Upper Stadium where he addressed a developmental rally after his official duties, Chakwera who is also Malawi Congress Party President and leader of the Tonse Alliance calle for political tolerance among all Malawians especially the youths, saying he will not allow the youths to be instruments of political intolerance and destruction of peace and unity in the country.



“I need all of us to move together in peace and have one vision. I don’t want to see again what we saw at COMESA in the morning when the youths displayed intolerance just because of their differences in politics. Such intolerance and fighting among the youths will not help developing our country, and I don’t want such behaviour anymore. Everyone must do things that we are rebuilding one nation, one Malawi.” Lamented President Chakwera while commending women from different political parties who were in their party colors during his developmental rally at the Upper Stadium, saying that is the spirit of love and unity that he want.

Turning to country’s development plans, Chakwera whose speech brought fresh memories of how devastating was Cyclone Freddy, said the country needs God’s intervention and spiritual counseling above every endeavor to bring to normal the livelihood of the victims as the trauma was too much.

He then urged Malawians to be steady-fast and strong enough to rebuild the nation after the Cyclone and other natural disasters as well as pandemics which have befallen the country in the recent years.

“We have been speaking even with our partners both local and international to assist us rebuilding Malawi and many of them came in with assistance which has been the first of its kind in history for our nation, and some have even asked for our plans in the rebuilding process so that they help with resources needed to rebuild our country.” Added President Chakwera.

Here President Chakwera commended former Heads of State, Bakili Muluzi and Joyce Banda for their tireless contribution to the nation as good will ambassadors towards the rebuilding process of Malawi.

“I am meeting them tomorrow (Thursday) to receive reports on how we are fairing and how best we can do, so that they continue helping us as good will ambassadors to rebuild our country from the losses of Cyclone Freddy. Said the President.

During the rally, Malawi leader assured the people of the Southern Region that his administration will continue developing the region as planned and promised.

Speaking before the President Minister of Trade and Industry, Simplex Chithyola Banda thanked President Chakwera for presiding over the two events of opening MBS Complex and this year’s MITF which he said are vital in development of the country.

On his part Senior Chief Kapeni of Blantyre requested government to consider grading some roads in Blantyre, saying they are in dilapidated state. However chief Kapeni has suggested that government reintroduces development projects similar to those of Youth Week during Kamuzu era, saying they were helpful as every community was doing developmental projects on its own which saw good road networks among others across the country.

In his speech, Veteran politician, Brown Mpinganjira requested government to consider counseling those who were affected by Cyclone Freddy whom he said have been traumatized by how the storm tormented them.

President Chakwera is in the Southern Region for government duties.

Silver Strikers’ player Chimwemwe Idana wins player of the month award

Silver Strikers midfielder Chimwemwe Idana has become the first player this season to win the team’s player of the month award sponsored by Mika Greenland.

Mika Greenland presented the award which is for the month of April, to Idana on Thursday morning.



To win the award, Idana beat three players namely Emmanuel Kaunga, Chikondi Kamanga and Maxwell Paipi.

The Flames midfielder has since received a plot and cash worth K100,000.

The award is part of the renewed agreement between the company and the central bankers.

DENEYE donates to Freddy survivors

A Machinga-based youthful- organization Development Network for Youth Empowerment (DENEYE- has been hailed for its commendable job for bailing out people with disabilities, elders and cyclone Freddy survivors in traditional Authority Mtumbwinda.

The remarks were made when organisation was donating some non food items to the people.

Traditional Authority Mtumbwinda said organisation always act first on any emergencies.



“Although this organisation do not have funds it always come to us when we endengered, so have no word rather appreciating good work that you started long time back,” he said.

He then encouraged youths in the area to emurate what the organisation is doing by taking care of people with disabilities and elders.

“This is good to go I would like to appeal to other youths in the country to start appreciating and honouring these people so that they may live longer,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries Esnart Bround thanked the organisation for the help and asked for support as people in the area are still nursing problems caused by cyclone Freddy.

The organisation’s Executive Director Shalid Ishmael said with the way he has seen how people are suffering, he has pledged to continue lobbying for other resources from well-wishers and stakeholders.

“We have seen that people are starving from hunger,lack of good shelter kitchen utensils and clothes I am asking people who can help so that I can divert to them,” he said.

MCP condemns the assault of Times Group journalist by alleged MCP supporters

The ruling party, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has condemned an attack on The Times Group journalist Francis Mzindiko by alleged MCP supporters during the official opening of the 33rd International Trade Fair and inauguration of Malawi Bureau of Standards office complex in Blantyre on Wednesday.

It is said that 15 youthful men in MCP’s green suits assaulted the journalist,accused him of filming the fight between supporters of the party and their UTM counterparts.

But in a statement, MCP publicity secretary Ezekiel Ching’oma says the party will fully cooperate with law enforcing agencies in investigating the matter.

“It is never acceptable to harass or intimidate journalists or any individuals for doing their job or exercising their right to free speech,” says Ching’oma in a statement.

He adds” It is never acceptable to harass or intimidate journalists or any individual for doing their job or exercising their right to free speech.

“Such actions not only violate the law but also undermine the principles of democracy and respect of human dignity.

“Journalists play critical role in holding those in power accountable,and it is crucial that their safety and freedom to do their work are protected.”

Meanwhile, Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter has demanded the arrest of the perpetrators.
