Keturah’s new album launch on May 27

Malawi’s award winning songstress Keturah, famously known as Local Girl, will on May 27,2023 launch her self titled album which she recorded in the United States of America last year.

Writing on her official Facebook Page, the country’s famous female artist says the launch will take place at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre.

“After alot of hard work and effort, finally we are launching my album at Amaryllis Hotel on 27th May,” reads her post in part.



The singer is describing the album as one of the best works in her music journey.

Keturah is a female artist who grew up in Mwanza and currently staying in Chilomoni, Blantyre.

She is from a family of guitarists, song writers and music lovers.

Her style of Music is greatly influenced by the great legends of Malawi music, singers like Paul Banda, Gides Chalamanda and many more, including international musicians like Tony Braxton, Tracy Chapman and Dolly Parton.

Renowned poet Tendai Shaba writes a second book ‘ A Lady In A Yellow Dress’

A renowned Malawian poet,author and activist Tendai Shaba has published his second book titled’ A Lady In A Yellow Dress’ after 3 years of releasing the first book titled’ Moments to Cherish’.

In a statement, the author says the 200 page book is a collection of 195 poems on emotional,wellness and seeks to inspire people’s thoughts and feelings.

He says the book which is in hardcopy and other formats took him 3 solid years to complete.

According to Shaba, the new book will be launched on September 5, 2023 at a venue to be announced in Lilongwe.

“The book will be released worldwide in all formats; hard cover first, then paperback, E-book and audiobook and in all the leading online book stores.

“The book is suitable for both adults and youth( adolescents),”says Shaba in a statement.

‘A Lady In A Yellow Dress’ has been published by Pachulu publishing, an initiative aimed at producing international level Malawian books and original IEC materials to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Malawi.


Tendai M. Shaba is a Malawian author of Moments to cherish (2020), a poet, activist and spoken word artist.

As an activist and creative consultant,Shaba has worked with local and global organizations.

He has officially been involved as an activist in various campaigns such as mental health awareness, women and youth empowerment, gender Based Violence (GBV) elimination, labor and productivity, climate change and safe motherhood.

His work touches on meaningful and positive daily life experiences to feed our spirituality and soulfulness.

Sulom suspends Silver, Tigers match

Super League of Malawi, Sulom has announced the postponement of the match between Silver Strikers and Mighty Tigers which was originally scheduled for Saturday 13th May 2023.

According to a statement released by Sulom, the change has come due to the fact that Bingu National Stadium (BNS) will be hosting Kamuzu Day activities which falls on 14 May every year.



The development means means that the venue will be closed for preparations.

Sulom has since said that the new dates for the match will be announced later.

Other games to be played on Saturday will involve Moyale Barracks who will be hosting Mighty Be Forward Wanderers at Mzuzu Stadium.

Blue Eagles will host Dedza Dynamos at Dedza Stadium while Karonga United will be looking forward to recover from their 2-1 defeat by Bangwe All Stars last weekend as they host Civil Service United at Karonga Stadium.

TA Zolokere of Rumphi district dies

The Ministry of Local Government, Unity and Culture has announced the demise of Traditional Authority (TA) Zolokere of Rumphi district.

According to a statement the Ministry released on Wednesday, late TA Zolokera, whose real name is Moses Godfrey Khunga, succumbed to Stroke on Tuesday at Rumphi District Hospital.



The ministry says the remains of the deceased will be laid to rest on Friday this week at Zolokere Headquarters, Mizyuzyu Cemetary in the district.

The deceased who is survived by a wife, 8 children and 32 grandchildren was born in 1940 and was installed as TA Zolokere on 11th June in 2020.

Paul Maulidi rejoins Peoples Party (PP)

Former People’s Party (PP) secretary general (SG) Paul Maulidi has rejoined the party, nine years after quitting.

He was unveiled on Wednesday in Lilongwe at a ceremony presided over by the party’s SG and current Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola.

Speaking to journalists,Maulidi said he has decided to rejoin the PP because it is the party that has the peoples welfare at heart and has good leadership.

“This is my beloved party and the one that has people’s welfare at heart,” he said.

On his part,Matola described Maulidi as a valuable addition to the party which is currently on recruitment drive.

Maulidi left the party unceremoniously after he contested in Parliamentary by-elections in 2014 which PP was boycotting.

People’s Party is a political party that was founded in 2011 by Joyce Banda, Vice-President of Malawi from May 2009 to April 2012, and President from 7 April 2012 to 2014.

Banda created the party after being expelled from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) when she refused to endorse President Bingu wa Mutharika’s younger brother Peter Mutharika as the successor to the presidency for the 2014 general election.
