A flurry of late goals saw defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets extend their TNM Super League lead as they beat Red Lions 4-0 at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The People’s team moved two points clear of Silver Strikers who have dislodged Mighty Mukuru Wanderers on the second position.

Lanjesi Nkhoma opened the scoring just five minutes from kick-off but they didn’t add a second until the 70th minute through substitute Anthony Mfune.

It was a game of many chances for the People’s team who controlled possession in both halves but they weren’t sharp enough in front of goals and they had three goals ruled out for offside.

Man Of the Match Clyde Senaji

Lanjesi Nkhoma scored the first goal of the match and his seventh this season after an assist by Maxwell Phodo.

The second goal for Bullets came from Anthony Mfune in the second half who scored with a simple tap in after being set by the first goal scorer, Lanjesi Nkhoma.

Stanley Billiat scored Bullets’ third goal in the 88th minute with a beautiful volley after receiving a beautiful pass from his captain Precious Sambani.

After providing an assist for Billiat, it was time for Sambani to register his name on the score sheet and he did just that in the added time with a powerful header from a Stanley Billiat’s well taken corner kick.

Red Lions introduced Hankey Machira and Ferguson Mtondo to replace Andrew Biyo and Hadji Kung’unde but still failed to get an equaliser as Bullets proved to be too strong for the army side.

After the match, Bullets’ Kenyan defender Clyde Senaji was voted Man Of the Match.

That result leaves Red Lions in fifteenth place, only two points behind bottom placed Extreme FC.

In Lilongwe, Stain Davie scored his first hat-trick this season as he helped Silver Strikers beat rookies Bangwe All Stars 4-1 at Bingu National Stadium.

The other goal for the central bankers came from Patrick Macheso as Bangwe got their consolation through Chikumbutso Salima who scored from the penalty spot.

Elsewhere, a lone goal from Binwell Katinji was enough to grant Civil Service United maximum points as they beat Kamuzu Barracks 1-nil at Civo Stadium.

In Dedza, it ended 1-all between Dedza Dynamos and Mighty Tigers with Clement Nyondo scoring for the home side in the first half and Trouble Kajani equalizing for the visitors just four minutes in the second half.

Moyale Barracks and Blue Eagles also shared the spoils as they drew 1-1 at Mzuzu Stadium.

Both sides got their goals in the second half through Gastin Simkonda and Tonic Viyuyu respectively.

Next weekend, all eyes will be on city rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers as they travel up north to face Chitipa United and Karonga United respectively.
