Goshen City to hold its first multi-stakeholder meeting

Management of Goshen City will hold a first of its kind multi-stakeholder meeting aimed at raising awareness and also courting partnerships for the project.

The meeting will be held in Blantyre this Friday evening, 22nd July 2022.

Goshen City’s visionaire Prophet Shepherd Bushiri says the meeting aims at achieving several objectives and chief among them is selling the vision of project to different sectors of the society including the corporate world.

“We want to explain to various stakeholders what Goshen City is all about, the business opportunities involved and also seek partnerships with other companies and institutions,” he said.



Further, Prophet Bushiri added that the meeting also seeks to court for more support from government and the private sector.

Over 70 companies and institutions have been invited to participate in the meeting. Goshen City also wishes to advise institutions and companies interested to be part of the event.

Goshen City is a smart, iconic and green city being built in Monkey Bay, Mangochi and will have a hub value proposition which will include agribusiness, finance, education, technology, tourism and medical.

MIJ Executive Director Anthony Phanga Laid to rest

The burial ceremony for Anthony Phanga who was the Executive Director of Malawi Institute of Journalism -MIJ has taken place today at his home village in Salima.

The late Phanga died at Blantyre Adventist Private hospital on Monday.
A representative of the family says the late Phanga died because of the injuries he sustained after being hacked.He says the family has lost a pillar.

After news of his death spread, MISA Malawi Chairperson Teresa Ndanga I a Statement said Phanga’s death is a great loss in a media fraternity and the country as whole.

” This a really sad development. Mr. Phanga was central to steering MIJ to the success we see from outside.

” Under his leadership, we have witnessed the new crop of journalists as well as thriving radios. The sector has lot a well of wisdom.

” Our condolences to Phanga family, colleagues at MIJ and media fraternity,” said Ndanga


Speaking at the funeral ceremony on behalf of Malawi Institute of Journalism Shadreck Kahumbe says the institute has lost a very important person who contributed alot to the development of the organization.

According to Kahumbe, the late Phanga joined MIJ in 2010.The late Phanga joined MIJ as finance and Adminstration Manager before rising to the post of Executive Director.

He also worked with Blantyre Newspapers Limited ( BNL), now Times Group, as Chief Accountant.

High Court Suspends Planned Demos against Selective Justice in the Judiciary

The High Court Lilongwe registry has issued an injunction suspending the demonstrations that were supposed to take place today starting this morning until an inter-parte hearing is heard. The protesters are against what they call “selective justice in the judiciary”.

The injunction has been obtained by lawyer Gift Nankhuni on behalf of a John Kwenda and others.



The court says disobeying the order would constitute contempt of court with probable results of fines or imprisonment.

The claimants are demanding a list of names of those to be liable if protests ended in damage to property, assurance that the protests would be peaceful, an audio or written communication calling for peaceful protests and retraction of an audio by one Ben Longwe in which he is allegedly calling for violence and commission of offence.

Chakwera to act on Mkaka’s Mercedes Benz allegations soon

President Lazarus Chakwera says a decision on the Natural Resources Minister Eisenhower Mkaka will be made once the Anti-Corruption Bureau-ACB furnishes him with details about the investigations.

Presidential press secretary Anthony Kasunda has told the press on Tuesday that Chakwera has only learnt through the media that the ACB intends to investigate Mkaka on the matter.

Mkaka- controversy over his Mercedes Benz



The ACB has confirmed investigating Mkaka over his Mercedes Benz whose particulars are similar to vehicles which businessman Zuneth Sattar gifted some public officers.

Before the investigation, Mkaka explained on his Facebook Page that he bought the car, using money earned from his previous job at a certain bank.

Albino Killing Catholic Priest has died

The country is learning with shock of the death of Rev Father Thomas Mahosha, a catholic priest who was recently sent to Zomba maximum prison for ritually killing a person with albinism McDonald Masambuka in Machinga in 2018

According to a Statement from the Catholic Church, Mahosha has died while receiving treatment at Zomba Hospital for an undisclosed illiness

Together with others he was sentenced to 30 years in Prison . He is also known to have revealed that former president Peter Mutharika and his Advisor Dr Heatherwick Ntaba were also involved in the killing.

“Rev, Fr, Dr. was not in full communion with the Church,” says a statement signed by ECM Secretary General, Father Henry Saindi.
