Just seconds before the end of the first half, Bangwe won a free-kick which was beautifully taken by Yamikani Mologeni to the far post leaving Silver Strikers goalkeeper Charles Thom standing, arms akimbo in disbelief as it ended 2-nil in favor of the rookies at half time.

The changes yielded some results as Adiel Kaduya scored the first goal for the visitors in the 60th minute after an assist by Nyondo.
Two minutes later, Nyondo found the back of the net with a beautiful header connecting well a corner kick beautifully taken by Chinsisi Maonga.
Just when everyone thought it was going to end in a draw, Saizi completed his brace at 90th minute as he connected well an Emmanuel Lino’s pass to give the home side the much needed victory to the delight of coach Abel Mkandawire.
It was a disappointing afternoon for Silver Strikers who were hoping for a win to find themselves back at the summit of the log table.

President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera’s administration is working around the clock to rid off the economic crisis that the country is currently facing, Minister of Information and Digitalization Moses Kunkuyu said on Sunday.
The government spokesperson was responding to a statement that Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) made at a press briefing on Sunday where the coalition’s leaders challenged President Chakwera to address social and economic problems that Malawians are facing.
Kunkuyu said the government is aware of the challenges and that efforts are being made to reverse the trend.
Hon Moses Kunkuyu
“Economic problems do not surface immediately from the time you enjoyed the temporary sweets that have a lasting impact on your economy. Excess borrowing that was not invested for profitable gains, decades of corruption and improper procurement processes. All these dug a hole in our economy and coupled with natural shocks, the economy suffers and when this happens, prices of commodities rise, your currency becomes weak against major reserve currencies,” explained Kunkuyu in an interview with Zodiak on Sunday afternoon.
“Importation of strategic commodities becomes a challenge, people become enraged and they justifiably call on their governments to take action. This is happening at a time also when some of our borrowings have matured and we must repay. Government and the president understands its role and we are here to address these challenges. People must be assured that everything that president Chakwera does, he does it for the betterment of Malawians lives.”
Last year edition’s runners up, Blue Eagles, continue to move down in the log table of the TNM Super league as they go down to position 15 after a 1-0 home loss against 10 man Moyale Barracks at Nankhaka Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Debutant substitute, Chifundo Damba, scored a 64th minute goal, that goal enough for Moyale Barracks to win the match despite Eagles having a numerical advantage in the last 18 minutes as defender, Lusekero Malema, was sent off for picking a second yellow card in the match.
Deputy Coach for the Eagles, Christopher Sibale, said the team needs to sit down and look into their problems as he was disappointed with how the team is missing the chances in their games.
“Let me admit that I am very disappointed because we expect a win, a draw and a loss but now it has come to where we need to sit down and see what is happening because we can create chances but we fail to convert, at the end of the day it pains us, we are in tough situation, otherwise this is not okay,” Said Sibale.
Meanwhile, Moyale Barracks head coach, Nicolas Mhango, thanked his boys for following his instructions saying despite them being tired, they managed to get the win.
“Let me thank my players, while struggling and fatigued, we have scored and I need to thank them and we just need to win many games,” Mhango told to journalists.
Straight from Zimbabwe where they won a trophy in a commemoration of 30 years of Zimbabwe Defense force, Moyale came hard in the game as they nearly got a goal in the first 10 minutes but Eagles defense cleared it.
The hosts were then dominant with Chikondi Mvula, Schumacher Kuwali and Richard Rabson coming close but failed to hit the target.
Moyale introduced Prince Phiri and debutant Chifundo Damba for Brown Magaga and Walusungu Mdoka on 50th minute before Gototo missing a good chance after receiving a brilliant ball from Mvula on 54th minute.
Damba scored his first goal at Moyale on 64th minute after he was met by Gastin Simkonda and Eagles reacted with introducing Hendrix Misinde for Schumacher Kuwali on 70th minute.
Lusekero Malema got sent off after a second booking and Mvula’s effort was saved by Simfukwe on 75th minute as Eagles sort for an equaliser but the soldiers cruised to 1-0 away win.
The win takes them up to 8th with 22 points from 17 games while Eagles are 15th with 17 points from 18 games.
