Robbers this week broke into Malawi National Team Interim Coach Patrick ‘General’ Mabedi’s home in Johannesburg, South Africa and went away with his soccer medals and trophies.

According to soccerladuma.com, the house was left in the care of his daughter and that the incident took place when she was away to Malawi.

The former Amakhosi star has since appealed to the general public to help the police to find the criminals and recover his memorable items.

“I am not fine. When my daughter was here in Malawi and her friend left the house, then the people broke into my house (in Johannesburg) and stole household things including my trophies and medals that I had won as a player. So, if anyone saw someone selling trophies they must report it to the nearest police station. You know these are treasured memories as players or athletes. Its really sad that people can just break in and steal your valuable items like that,” Mabedi told Soccer Laduma.

“So, please help me spread the message and help me recover those things. I appeal to everyone who come across the Absa premiership trophies and medals to report that to the police. I will really appreciate that and any help I can get to have my trophies and medals back.”

Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda

In an email to Nyirenda, a senior public prosecutor in Munich Chief Public Prosecutor’s office Florian Weinzieri said the transfer of 516,975.21 Euros (about K610 million) has been initiated.

“I am happy to inform that just a few minutes ago, the transfer of the amount of 516, 975, 21 EUR to the account of the Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi-SFRFM was initiated. Of course it might take a few days until the amount will appear on the account,” reads the email.

Last year, the Ministry of Agriculture Barkaat Foods Limited to supply fertilizer and paid it the above mentioned money in installments to two accounts held in two countries.

The payment was made without following proper procedures as officials bypassed Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority as well as the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

After payment of the money, a team from the Ministry of Agriculture traveled to the United Kingdom where the officials realized that government had been duped since Barkaat Foods Limited does not have capacity to supply fertilizer.
