The body of the “Achalume” hitmaker Walycris has been laid to rest at Makhetha cemetery in Machinjiri township in Blantyre today.
Hundreds of mourners that included fellow artists attended the burial ceremony of one of Malawi’s fastest-rising star.
Born, Wyson Laifoh, 25, Walycris took the local music scene by storm with a unique and authentic genre done in ‘Yao’ language.
The artist died in a road accident in Zimbabwe on his way to Malawi from South Africa where he had performances with Zembani Music Company.
On his last mile, scores of people paid their last respects and they included artists Noel ‘Phyzix’ Chikoleka, Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Keturah and Piksy.
The Machinjiri based artist started his music journey in 2015 and in his career he recorded songs with a number of musicians like Nepman, Bucci and Guntola just to mention but a few.
WalyCris became a household name in September this year after releasing his hit single ‘Achalume’ done in Yao language that earned him a lot of respect and bookings across the country.
At the time he mate his fate, the artist was coming from his first ever live performance abroad.
Gaddie Chirwa is expected to join Mighty Mukuru Wanderers after Blue Eagles reached an agreement with the Nomads for his transfer from the police side on a record K7.5 million deal.
Eagles revealed the development through its official Facebook page and has since wished the player the best of luck.
“Blue Eagles FC wishes to inform all that it has reached an agreement with Mukuru Wanderers for the transfer of Gaddie Chirwa on a record 7.5 Million Kwacha Deal.
The agreement follows a chain of discussions, constructions and negotiations involving both parties.
We wish Gaddie a prosperous new year and all the best for the future,” reads the statement.
Wanderers officials have not yet commented on the matter but other reports from the blue camp indicate that the player will be unveiled in a few days at the club’s headquarters in Blantyre.
Chirwa recently resigned from the Malawi Police Service to join the Airtel Top 8 Champions.

Versatile music producer Christopher Chipwaila , famously called Chris Kele sadly passed away in April in South Africa. Kele had relocated to RSA to seek greener pastures. Kele was a veteran in music inudstry, and had released a number of albums in his own name. Kele burst onto the music scene in the late 90’s as a dancehall singer calling himself Palm C. He then reinvented himself as an RnB crooner releasing an album which contained hits like Uzibweza Ngongole which enjoyed a lot of airtime at the time. Former Malawi Minister of Gender, Child and Community Development Reen Kachere has died in August at Asamala Health Services in Area 18 in Lilongwe. The late Kachere was at the summit of her political career during late Bingu wa Mutharika’s regime. A mother to legislator Gladys Ganda and renowned musician cum lawyer Edgar Kachere of Edgar and Davis duo. Kachere also served as Neno West lawmaker and also Minister for Persons with Disabilities and the Elderly, among other political portfolios.

Judge Elton Singini died at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) in Lilongwe on Tuesday July 6, 2022. He was appointed a Justice of the High Court on August 25, 1995 and took oath of office on December 9, 1995. He became the first Law Commissioner of the Law Commission in Malawi, through an appointment by the State President on January18, 1996

Often described as one of the pioneers of Dancehall Music in Malawi, Leonard Chongwe, commonly known as TearGas died in March. Teargas made his big break during the days of Ragga Street on MBC radio 2 FM presented by Tailos Bakili – DJ Tai B. His Single “Oneness” together with San B, Annie Matumbi and Dr Lizad enjoyed massive airplay in the days when urban music was not very dominant. He died in March on 2022. He was laid to rest at his home village in Chiradzulu.

Born on May 11, 1962 and hailed from Khumulike Village, Traditional Authority Ndalama in Thyolo District. In an effort to increase the number of teachers in primary schools, the Malawi government under the leadership of President Lazarus Chakwera , through the Ministry of Education says it has recruited 5,710 teachers under the IPTE 13 and 14 cohorts.
In a statement 247 Malawi News has in possession, the government is requesting the teachers under the mentioned cohorts to visit their relevant District Education Manager ( DEM) offices in various districts with their original certificates and National IDs for confirmation from 4 to 6 January 2023.
The statement further says that the government is currently processing GP1 forms and allocation of schools for the teachers.
” The Ministry of Education is further requesting IPTE 15 Cohort to fill up the teaching spaces left by the recruited IPTE 13 and 14 Teachers as Auxiliary Teachers (AT) under MERP Program, ” reads the statement in part.
Death has been announced of the popular Zambian pastor Wiseman David Wiseman Angellos of ECG church who died in a road accident on Friday December 30,2022.
ECG Church founder and leader Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has confirmed the death of Angellos on his facebook page saying he met his fate on his way back from a personal ministry trip in Congo, where he went to minister in another church.
“EGC is deeply saddened by the passing of Wiseman David, a young man who devoted his life to serving the Kingdom of God.

“And even after he left, we were so convinced that he would excel in his ministry’s capacity, in spreading the gospel further and wider.

Adding ” death is not death to those who are in Christ.
“It is a calling to our Heavenly Father as we will all someday be called!.
Wiseman David served God under ECG Church for about 5 years as an ordained pastor, after which, he resigned mid last year, to open his own ministry.
