FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach, Peter Mponda, has urged the team’s supporters to remain patient, insisting that the club is on the right track despite recent frustrations.

His remarks follow growing criticism after last week’s 3-3 draw against Karonga United a result that reportedly angered some fans to the point of vandalizing the team’s bus as a show of displeasure.

Mponda

Mponda defended his players, noting that the current squad is still in a rebuilding phase following the departure of several key players from last season.

He expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress so far, stressing that supporters should look at the bigger picture rather than focus on isolated results.

“Last season, at this stage, the team had only collected 23 points. This time around, we have 34 points, so I don’t see any reason for alarm. We have made significant progress, and I honestly don’t know where all this panic is coming from,” Mponda said.

The coach further reminded fans that building a competitive team takes time, especially when integrating new players into the system.

He also praised the squad’s fighting spirit and commitment, saying they are adapting well to his style of play.

Mponda’s comments are seen as a call for unity among the club’s stakeholders as Bullets aim to maintain their title challenge in the remaining matches of the season.

The Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) has taken a major step towards embracing technology after signing a K30 million partnership with leading internet solutions provider, Sparc Systems Limited.

The deal will see Sparc Systems design, launch, and manage NAM’s official website, giving fans a central platform to access the latest news, fixtures, match results, and player profiles.

This development is expected to modernise how the sport is presented to the public.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Sparc Systems Chief Executive Officer, Esnor Ward, said his company is committed to supporting Malawian netball.

He highlighted that creating a digital home for the sport will not only benefit local supporters but also attract global attention.

NAM Vice President, Lumbani Ntonyo, expressed gratitude for the partnership, describing it as a milestone in the association’s history.

He noted that netball in Malawi enjoys international recognition, and the new platform will strengthen that visibility.

The Government of Japan has extended crucial assistance to Malawi by donating nearly 2,000 metric tons of maize, valued at 2.6 million US dollars.

This contribution aims to ease the food hardships faced by more than 177,000 vulnerable Malawians during the upcoming lean season of 2025/2026.

The donation, channeled through the World Food Programme (WFP), arrives at a critical moment as Malawi grapples with the adverse effects of climate change.

According to WFP Country Director Dr. Hoyoung Joon Lim, unpredictable weather patterns have severely disrupted agricultural outputs, exacerbating food insecurity in the country.

Japanese Ambassador to Malawi, Yoichi Oya, emphasized that their government’s decision to provide this support was driven by a deep awareness of Malawi’s persistent food crisis.

He affirmed Japan’s commitment to assisting Malawi in building resilience against these challenges.

Commissioner Moses Chimphepo of the Department of Disaster Management Affairs noted that the maize donation could not have come at a better time, offering much-needed relief to families struggling to secure food.
