Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club has confirmed that midfielder Chimwemwe Idana has left the club after failing to agree on contract extension terms.
According to a statement posted on the club’s website, Idana’s contract with the club was supposed to come to an end on 21 February 2023 but the two sides have agreed not to renew the contract.
“Nyasa Big Bullets can confirm that Chimwemwe Idana has left the club with immediate effect after failing to agree on contract extension terms. His current deal ends on 21 February 2023,” reads the statement in part.

The player who also plays for the Malawi national football team, The Flames, was reportedly demanding 8 million kwacha signing on fee to extend his contract for a year.
Chimwemwe Idana who has been with the club for six years, joined the People’s team through its reserves in 2017 before earning his promotion to the senior team in the 2018/19 season.
During his stay at the club, Idana won two Charity Shields, four TNM Super League titles, the Airtel Top 8 Cup and the FDH Bank Cup.
He was also voted Player of the Season in the 2020/21 campaign.
The new Japanese Ambassador to Malawi, Yoichi Oya on Tuesday January 17,2022 presented his letters of credence to President Lazarus Chakwera at a function held at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
Speaking to the press after meeting President Chakwera, Oya said his country remains committed to continue supporting Malawi in various sectors.
” We still have a lot of interesting projects to happen in Malawi through Japanese government support,” said Oya.
On his part, President Chakwera, said Malawi and Japan share an advantageous 50 years of development cooperation and 15 years of diplomatic ties.
The President said, based on the foregoing, his discussions with Oya were mainly guided by mutual commitment to consolidate these ties in key areas such as Education, Energy, Agriculture, Trade and Health among others.
“The new envoy has since pledged to continue cultivating good bilateral relations and opening of new opportunities for Malawi in various social and economic capacities,” said Chakwera.
The Malawi leader further disclosed that, Malawi on the other hand will offer unrelenting support to Japan’s efforts on Peace and Security as the country serves as non-permanent member at the United Nations Security Council for the next couple of years.
In her few remarks, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, hailed Japan for the support it has been rendering to Malawi which, among others, necessitated the construction of the Blantyre-Limbe dual carriage way and Nalikule Teachers Training College.
Ambassador Oya is coming to represent his country in Malawi for the second time having worked at the Japanese Embassy in Malawi some 12 years ago.
One of the country’s renowned social entrepreneurs Chipiliro Mizere has published a book that covers 328 tips for life.
In an interview, Mizere who is also a well known writer and researcher said the book titled ‘ A comprehensive Guide to Navigating Life and Achieving Success’ and is on amazon readers forum seeks to deal with social issues in the form of tips.
He said as a writer and a researcher, he always had a feeling of pulling towards writing and addressing social issues so as to put his thoughts and ideas into a book.
Mizere explained that the tips contained in this his new book focus much on how to deal with issues such as Job hunting , biased promotions at work, sexual harassment at work and other gender issues.
” Not only that but also things to do with marriage .
“Overall the book is aimed at helping reduce peoples stress , and anxiety by finding available solutions to the people, in return the book can even help to reduce mental stress as it has simple answers in the form of tips,” explained Mizere.
He added ” After months of research and writing, my book is now finally ready and available on Amazon for readers to purchase.”
The author said the book also has simple answers so that readers can easily understand its topics.
” When writing this book, I made sure that the information contained therein is accurate and up-to-date.
“I also took into consideration the cultural and societal context in which the tips are being offered,” said Mizere.
He further explained that he still sells his book at a low price of less than $1 for the digital copy and $8.99 for the hard copy.

The Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has bemoaned lack of capacity to handle sexual harassment cases in respect of the Gender Equality Act of 2013 among some public and private sector institutions in the country.
Speaking to the members of the press on Monday, MHRC Deputy Director for gender and women’s rights Deborah Tambulasi Banda, said this has now affected reporting and dispute resolution mechanisms within institutions, with many victims failing to report cases for fear of reprisals.
” There is still lack of seriousness among some private and public sector institutions in the way they can handle asexual harassment cases.
“This is affecting the way how we can combat this problem,” said Banda.

On his part, chairperson for Gender Coordination Network( GCR) Barbra Banda concurred with MHRC and urged institutions to train their personnel for them to be able to handle gender related issues.
” Let us have individuals who are well trained to deal with gender related issues in our several institutions ,” urged Banda.
In the law, Section 7 of the Gender Equality Act of 2013, encourages institutions to develop sexual harassment policies and create conducive environment for the employees, while section 6, prohibits all acts of sexual harassment in institutions both private and public.
Government through ministry of Water and Sanitation has disclosed that the Lilongwe – Salima water project will start this year.
The Project which is expected to extract water from Lake Malawi in Salima to Lilongwe, to address water challenges in Lilongwe and surrounding areas has been delayed due to many challenges.
Among the challenges, the government has been having issues with financiers of the project ‘Quay Energy’ which has been struggling to raise the necessary financing for the Project.
Khato Civils through Quay Energy was mandated to secure about K322 billion for the project which the government already gave a sovereign guarantee for, but this hasn’t happened.
In an interview with local media on Monday, Elias Chimulambe Principal Secretary for the ministry of Water and Sanitation said now the government has found another financier and the project is ready to be rolled out this year.
Meanwhile, the Central Region Water Board (CRWB) revealed that it needs over K583.5 billion for its water projects in the region.
On his part, engineer John Makwenda Chief Executive Officer for CRWB said the flagship water projects are estimated to help a population of over 700.
After meeting the natural resources committee of Parliament, Makwenda said they are at the moment looking for funds to finance the projects.
He said, some of the projects are; Namitete -Nsundwe water project, Bua-Chinkhoma, Dwangwa water supply and Nkhamenya water supply project.
At the moment, Werani Chilenga Chairperson for Natural resources committee of Parliament has pledged support to the water board for them to get the necessary financing.
