The Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC has secured on lease FAM’s Chilomoni stadium as home ground after carrying out necessary repairs and maintenance.

The hand over ceremony took place Friday afternoon. Representing Sulom was Williams Banda while representing Wanderers was Humphrey Mvula who was accompanied by directors Mervis Mangulenji, Chancy Gondwe, Chris Gondwe and Harry Msiska.

President Lazarus Chakwera has bemoaned the tendency of slowness and delays in implementing public projects, saying such culture is impacting negatively on the progress of development and economy for the country.
The President was speaking at Luanar, Bunda Campus on Friday, May 6,2022 when he presided over the official opening of the Luanar Building and Teaching facility that has been constructed with funds from Malawi Government.
In his speech, President Chakwera wondered why one project can take close to twelve years before being completed, saying his administration is much committed to complete projects which were started and left unfinished by the previous administrations.
“I am delighted to join all of you in celebrating completion of these magnificent facilities. One of the things that I am committed to as a servant of Malawian People, it is not on to continue the past practice of frustrating or abstracting the completion of projects that were left unfinished by previous administrations, I said I will not do that. In fact when I accepted to be the chancellor of this University on November 19,2020, I promised to ensure the smooth and speedy completion of these facilities that has taken four different administrations passing on the responsibility to see it done.” Read part of President Chakwera’ speech.
He further told the gathering that the kind of continuity of projects across administrations is the kind of continuity that he believes in, if the agenda 2063 is to be achieved, adding that being constitutional right, such developments must not be politicized but celebrated as of national enjoyment.
President Chakwera then said the infrastructure has added the value to the accelerators of agricultural sector which he described as one area the country must get right by diversification to produce variety of crops that have high demand around the world to create a diversified economy.
“It is simply a disgrace for us as a nation to take twelve years to complete these buildings. This is not a criticism against the people who did the construction, but a criticism against us as a nation, all of us. We are very slow as a nation, We are a nation in slow motion. ” Lamented President Chakwera while saying such slowness is killing the country’s economy.
President Chakwera in his speech also revealed that he has requested the World Bank to support the agricultural high education in Malawi with resources amounting to 30 Million United States Dollars to facilitate series of excellence in agriculture of which some will be housed at Luanar.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested former Minister of Homeland Security, Cecilia Chazama, and five others on allegation of abuse of office.
ACB Principal Public Relations Officer, Egrita Ndala, in a statement says that the arrest follows a complaint that the Immigration Department in 2018 had recruited 210 immigration assistants who didn’t have the necessary qualifications.
The statement says that the Bureau’s investigation established that the department recruited 127 immigration assistants who were not qualified.

The other suspects are Mr. Masauko Medi, former Director General of the Immigration and Citizenship Services, Mr. Limbani Chawinga, Ms. Pudensiana Makalamba, Mr. Chandiwira Chidothe (Immigration officers of various positions) and Mr. Hilario Chimota, former Principal Secretary for the Department of Human Resource Management and Development.
Ndala says the suspects will appear before the courts after the bureau interviews them.
The controversial man of God Prophet Austin Liabunya has announced the death of his father Austin Mkuwatha who passed on in the morning hours of today at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe.
Liabunya made announcement of his father’s death through a statement shared on his facebook page earlier today.
” With great sadness, I am devastated to announce the death of my father Austin Mkuwatha who has died at the age of 90.
” Brothers and Sisters, we don’t want you to be uniformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who do not have hope,” announced Liabunya in a statement.
He said the late his father will be laid to rest at his home village in Ntcheu on a day to be communicated later.
Meanwhile, Liabunya has thanked Kamuzu Central Hospital doctors, family and friends for the love and support they rendered to him during the time of his father’s illness.
The Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has expressed shock over the unavailability of Pastor Michael Howard, Director of Kalibu Academy at today’s hearing.
The Commission is today holding a public hearing into allegations of administration of corporal punishment and child sexual abuse at Kalibu Academy.
MHRC launched an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse and administration of corporal punishment to learners at Kalibu Academy last year.

It is on record that Howard will not be available for the hearing as he has left the country.
Kate Kujaliwa MHRC Public Relations Officer has expressed worry with the development saying Howard was aware about the hearing as he was invited.
“We are surprised because we served them with a notice which was delivered by hand on 22 April 2022. Only to hear Pastor Howard has left the country for Finland on Monday 1 May 2022 when the hearing was scheduled for 5th May” said Kujaliwa.
Kujaliwa, has however said that the hearing will proceed with testimonies from witnesses and victims.
The investigations have resumed after they were suspended last year in September, after the Academy sought an injunction and leave for judicial review.
