Macelba, Provoice to release a thanks giving song after surviving a serious road accident

Urban musicians Macelba and Provoice have revealed plans to release a thanks giving song to God for saving their lives after a serious car accident that claimed two lives on December 4 last year.

According to Provoice, the song is titled Mwandikweza and has been produced by Caff – B and Macia.

In a Facebook post the “Tunduma” hit maker said he was very thankful to God for giving the two an opportunity to continue entertaining their fans.

“Last year on 4 December I and Macelba Marley were involved in a car accident that almost took our lives , I am incredibly grateful for the second chance I have been given by God.

I am thankful to have been able to work with Macelba on a song we are about to release titled Mwandikweza.”

“This song is a reminder to never take life for granted and to cherish every moment we have. RIP to the Friends we lost,” said Provoice.

The accident happened in Dedza district when the two artists were coming from a music show in Zomba city.

The driver of the vehicle they were traveling in and the pedestrian sustained severe head injuries and were pronounced dead upon arrival at Dedza District Hospital.

Macelba, real-name Smart Mazaka Banda escaped with minor bruises and was treated as an outpatient while Provoice sustained a fractured pelvic and was referred to Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe where he received further treatment.

For Provoice, real name Lameck Mwenewanda this was the second accident in a space of one year as he was also involved in another accident in 2021 when he was coming from Hangout Festival in Salima.

Silver Strikers Unveils former Bullets midfielder Chimwemwe Idana

Silver Strikers Football Club has unveiled former Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Chimwemwe Idana, a day after the player signed a contract with Tanzanian side Mbeya SC.

Idana was unveiled on Monday afternoon at Silver Stadium after he agreed a six-month loan deal with the central bankers from the Tanzanian outfit.

The 2021/22 TNM Super League player of the season signed a 1 and half-year contract with Mbeya but couldn’t be registered at the club as the transfer window had already closed.

The development means that Idana will play for the capital city giants until July this year

Idana left the People’s team in January this year after the two sides failed to reach an agreement over a new deal.

Kalua wants Uladi Mussa released from prison

A Member of Parliament for Rumphi East Constituency Kamlepo Kalua, has called on Minister of Homeland Security, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, to ask President Lazarus Chakwera to consider having former Minister of Homeland Security, Uladi Mussa, released from prison.

Speaking in Parliament on Monday afternoon, Kalua said Mussa is a national leader and government should consider releasing him from prison.

Said Kalua”I want to appeal to government.

“We have notable personalities in this country that are languishing in prison, I have in mind Uladi Mussa.

“May I appeal to the Minister and through you this parliament to consider the release of Uladi Mussa being one of our leaders in this country.”

Meanwhile, in her comment,speaker of National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara told Kalua to make formal request to the Minister of Homeland Security so that he can respond on the matter.

Mussa is serving a five year jail term at Maula Prison.

He was sent to jail in 2020 over fraudulent issuing of citizenship and work permits to foreigners

Former NFRA Deputy CEO Gerald Viola convicted over abuse of office

The Lilongwe Principal Resident Magistrate Viva Nyimba has today convicted Former National Food Reserve Agency ( NFRA) Deputy Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) Gerald Viola and businessperson Chrispin Chingola in a case to do with the supply of maize worth 3.3 billion kwacha at the
National Food Reserve Agency.

Viola was accused of singlehandedly awarding a contract to Chingola’s company to supply 10000 tonnes of maize worth 3.3 billion kwacha, a process which is said to have been done without following procurement procedures.

The two were also being accused of forgery and conspiracy to misuse public office but Viola alone was also accused of misuse of public office and interfering with the work of the Internal Procurement and Disposal of Assets Committee.

Delivering his judgement, Principal Resident Magistrate Viva Nyimba said the two are found guilty and that the court will soon read out its sentence on the case.

The state has also prayed that the bail for the two remain revoked since they are now convicts.

Ronald Mangani appointed press corporation CEO

Press Corporation plc has announced the appointment of Dr. Ronald Mangani as its Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) effective March 1,2023.

In a statement, the company’s secretary Maureen Mbeye says Mangani replaces Dr. Lyton Chithambo who had been the acting CEO since February, 2022.

She says, Mangani has demonstrable leadership skills including working as the Secretary to the Treasury of the Malawi Government between 2014 and 2017 hence his appointment.

” He also chaired the Board of Old Mutual Malawi Limited and served as an independent Director of the Boards of the First Capital Bank, the Reserve Bank of Malawi, the Malawi Stock Exchange, MDC Limited, and the Malawi Institute of Management;among several others.

” He was one of the founding members of the Economics Association of Malawi.

” In addition, Dr. Mangani was a network member of the African Economic Research Consortium of Kenya and part of the global faculty of the Tanzania-based Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa,” she says.

Mbeye adds that Mangani has also taken numerous consultancy and technical advisory assignments for various governments, the private sector, nongovernmental organizations and the international development agencies on the African continent.

She says ” He therefore, brings to PLC extensive experience in managerial leadership, investment decision making financial and economic management and strategic planning.”
