Mighty Mukuru Wanderers slumped to a 1-0 defeat against 10-man Blue Eagles FC in a TNM Super League match played at Nankhaka Stadium on Saturday, thanks to Richard Rapson’s second-half goal.
Rapson who was also voted man of the match, scored in the 56th minute after receiving an assist from Micium Mhone to help Eagles cement their second place position in the league.
Rapson was also voted man of the match last weekend end when Blue Eagles thrashed Dedza Dynamos 4-nil at Nankhaka Stadium.
The win means that Eagles who have so far accumulated 56 points, have reduced the gap between themselves and league leaders Nyasa Big Bullets to five points but the area 30 side side have played two games more than the People’s team .
In another match played on Saturday, Bashir Maunde scored from the penalty spot as Civil Service FC beat Ekwendeni Hammers 1-0.
The civil servants are now on number seven on the log table with 41 points from 28 games and they have remained with two games to finish the season.
On Sunday, Moyale Barracks will play struggling TN Stars at Mzuzu Stadium while Karonga United hosts Red Lions at Karonga Stadium.
In the central region, there will be two big games involving Mafco FC and Nyasa Big Bullets at Dedza Stadium as Kamuzu Barracks hosts Silver Strikers at Kasungu Stadium.
The Second Malawi Heritage Awards ceremony will be held this weekend in the city of Manchester. This follows the successful inaugural event that took place last year in the same City. Malawians living in UK will be joined by people from other nationalities to recognise Malawians that have done tremendous work in their various communities in the UK
The event which has been organised by Malawi Heritage UK will take place on Saturday, 29th October 2022 . The Awards are aimed at recognising deserving individuals that are helping to make the community better through positive contribution
According to Director of Malawi Heritage UK Allan Mandindi, the Awards were born out of the need to recognise people who carried out selfless community engagements but also aimed at encouraging people in the Diaspora to get involved in community work because they play a vital role both at home and abroad.

The event will be graced by The Lord Mayor of Manchester as Guest of honour. There will be performances by Hazel Mak and Jet Black Tickets for the event are going at £35 with those planning to pay at the door expect to pay £45.
The venue for the Awards ceremony is The GMP Social Club, Hough End Centre, Mouldeth Road W, Chorlton-Cum-Hardy, M21 75X in the City of Manchester
The Organising committee chairperson for this year’s Malawi Heritage Awards of Excellence ceremony, Julie Bumjee has reiterated that this year’s event is expected to be bigger and better as community stars will be recognised in various categories
Prophet Bushiri has through his spokesperson denied rumours that are circulation on social media that he is one of the people funding the current wave of demonstrations that are taking place in the country. The Demos are against the current government and requesting that President Chakwera should resign for failing this country
In a statement made available to 247Malawi, Ephraim Nyondo who is Bushiri’s press officer said it was blatantly false the rumours circulating on social media saying Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is among the people financing demonstrations organised by some sections of our society.
“They are bad rumours spread by people with nothing but intentions to always put the name of the Prophet in a negative prism.”

Nyondo said The Prophet earnestly believes that President Lazarus Chakwera’s government is putting on tremendous efforts to ensure that the prevailing economic challenges Malawians are facing are being addressed.
“Such efforts, the Prophet believes, needs to be supported and, as a man of God, he does that everyday through prayer and, as a businessperson, through attracting several people to invest in Malawi”.
“However, I must underline here that it is disheartening to note that it is becoming a tradition among some sectors of society that whenever there is an occurrence in the country they will always drag the name of Prophet Bushiri in it. The fact that Prophet Bushiri doesnt sue such people should never be an impetus for such unacceptable and illegal behaviour.”
“Let’s learn to respect each other as brothers and sisters of the same nation with common interests than always investing our energies in mudslinging and destroying each other.”
Authorities at Kamuzu Central hospital in Lilongwe have lamented underfunding which they say is stifling service delivery at the facility.
The concern had been highlighted during a high-level engagement on Wednesday where stakeholders were reviewing how to improve on financial health facilities.
Speaking to local media, Jonathan Ngoma, Director at Kamuzu Central Hospital said for instance, despite the fact that the facility needs at least 250 Million Kwacha per year, it has been funded with 52 Million Kwacha.
He since then backed calls for the need for people to now start paying for services in public hospitals as proposed by a special law commission on the review of Malawi’s health act.
Kamuzu Central Hospital, is the leading public health service referral and tertiary care facility for the central region with 43 % of the Malawian population.
Its services represent more than 300 000 contacts with patients annually, of which 45 000 are dealt with on as in-patient basis.
KCH also performs a major function in the in-service training of medical and nursing professionals.
The hospital is also responsible for district supportive supervisions to impact knowledge that improves service delivery.
The hospital also boasts significant collaborations with academic and medical research stakeholders, nationally and internationally.
Dr. Kenneth Zikhale Reeves Ng’oma, the National Strategic Planning Director in the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), has hailed the great relationship that is there between Malawi and Zimbabwe. Zikhale together with his Deputy , Hon. Mrs Kelita Kanyandula, are in Harare in Zimbabwe to attend the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) 7th National Conference, whose theme is “Building a prosperous Zimbabwe; leaving no one behind and no place behind.”
The conference has attracted 13 sister party delegates from different countries across the world. The ZANU–PF ruling party is holding its national congress at Robert Mugabe Square in Harare, Oct. 26-29. The aim of the congress is to formally nominate the president of the party, who will contest the upcoming 2023 elections. Incumbent President Mnangagwa is the sole candidate
According to Dr Zikhale, he is there to cement the cordial relationship that is there between the two countries “Malawi’s President, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, values and promotes cordial relationships with countries neighbouring Malawi.Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda, Father and Founder of the Malawi, nation believed in bilateral agreements as well, in order to promote peace and tranquillity among neighbouring states of Malawi.” said Zikhale
The relationship between MCP and ZANU-PF has been warm from long time ago, during which period, it is envisaged that Kamuzu managed to buy four Land Rovers to assist ZANU-PF meet its political ambitions. ZANU-PF had its first President Canaan Banana and Robert Mugabe as his Prime Minister. Other well known political figures in Zimbabwe at that time were the likes of Joshua Nkomo, Bishop Abel Muzorewa and Ian Smith, just to mention a few.
MCP is the only surviving party from the time of colonialism in Malawi. Amongst all political parties that existed during colonialism, African National Congress (ANC), a social democratic political party, is the longest serving political party in Africa, which got its independence in the year 1994 when the first past the post – apartheid election installed Nelson Mandela as President of South Africa from a paramilitary wing of uMkhonto we Sizwe. ZANU-PF got its independence in 1980.

The then Nyasaland got its independence through Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda in 1964, once entered into federation with Rhodesia and Zambia. Kwame Nkrumah through his Convention People’s Party, became Prime Minister in the year 1952 and took over as President after Ghana gained its independence from the British on 6th March 1957, and Ghana as a nation has since clocked 65 years of independence.
Dr. Kenneth Kaunda served as President of United National Independence Party (UNIP) up to 1991. Zambia gained its indepedence on 24th October, 1964. Another African Nation party known as Kenya African Union (KANU), led by into Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, gained independece in 1964, but failed survive political dynamics.
Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is commended by many Malawians for his initiative to encourage and protect the hard-earned relationship that exists between Zimbabwe and Malawi by sending delegates to ZANU-PF for the second time since he got into office.
More that 3500 delegates are expected to be part of the conference including delegates from Mozambique Frelimo, Tanzania Chama cha Mapinduzi, Botswana Democratic Party, The former Mayor of Lilongwe City in Malawi, Juliana Kaduya and Nyachenda Mkandawire, attended ZANU-PF National Women’s Conference in Harare last year.
