By Hastings Wadza Kasonga Jr

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have failed to move level on points with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the TNM Super League after dropping the other two points in a 0-0 draw against Moyale Barracks at the Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Nomads have dropped points in back to back games as they failed to play their usual game at the heavily criticized pitch as Barracks had their two penalty appeals denied by Newton Nyirenda in the match.

Coach for Moyale, Nicholas Mhango, said his side played very well but were not given two penalties they got in the match.

“The play was very good, every team was prepared that’s why we have drew. We could have had two penalties which i saw but have not been given anyway we will go back to correct our problems.” Said Mhango.

Meanwhile, Coach player for the Nomads, Alfred Manyozo Jr had the old song saying Mzuzu Stadium is not a football ground and downplayed the absence of Christopher Kumwembe as their problem.

“How can someone expect players to play at this pitch? If we want to go far ahead, let’s ignore these kinds of grounds. We did not miss him [Kumwembe], the coach signed many players but now why communicating very late like that when the player has travelled?” Said Angry Manyozo.

The Nomads had a lions share of possession in the first 45 minutes with Francis Mkonda, Gaddie Chirwa and Misheck Botomani going close but missed their chances. Msowoya saw his shot saved by Harawa on 48th minute before game changer, Khumbo Mhone coming in for Prince Phiri and Mkonda paved a way for Vitumbiko Kumwenda on 55th minute.

Mhone went down in the box but Nyirenda paved his hands on 59th minute before Rafael Phiri’s shot was blocked by Chaziya as the hosts started dominating. Mphatso Kamanga came in for Ngalande but Moyale’s best chance was the free kick by Simkonda but Thole saved it before Mphatso Kasonga coming in for Magaga.

Moyale had another penalty appeal denied on 90th minute after Miracle Gabeya seemed to handle the ball in the box. The result leaves Moyale on 6th with 6 points from 5 games while the Nomads are up to second with 11 points.

Meanwhile, Saulos Moyo netted a lone 75th minute goal as Karonga United beat Civo United 1-0 at the Karonga Stadium. The result takes Karonga up to 4th with 8 points while Civo are 9th with 5 points from 5 games.

Finally in Lilongwe, Lameck Gamphani scored a goal to rescue a point for Dedza Dynamos in a four goal thriller as they play a 2-2 with Blue Eagles at Nankhaka Stadium. Christopher Gototo put Eagles ahead on 9th minute but Clement Nyondo eclipsed it on 25 minute before Micium Mhone’s 63rd minute goal restored the lead but Gamphani cancelled it 5 minutes later. The result means Eagles are fifth now with 6 points while Dynamos are 9th and have 5 points.

Action continues on Sunday as Chitipa United host Extreme FC at Karonga Stadium and Ekwendeni United date MAFCO FC. FCB Nyasa Big Bullets still lead the table with 13 points from 5 games.

Talking of youth in entrepreneurship in Malawi:lets borrow a leaf from Kondwani Kachamba Ngwira

By Navaya E.Nasam

Malawi, like many other developing countries, has a significant youth population. According to the United Nations Population Fund, approximately 66% of Malawi’s population is under the age of 25. This youthful demographic presents a unique opportunity for entrepreneurship and innovation.

One of the biggest advantages of having a young population is the potential for fresh and innovative ideas. Young entrepreneurs are often more willing to take risks and think outside the box. They are not tied down by traditional ways of doing things and are more likely to embrace new technologies and business models.

Additionally, young entrepreneurs in Malawi can play a significant role in driving economic growth. By starting their own businesses, they can create employment opportunities for themselves and others. This can help to reduce youth unemployment and poverty, which are major issues in the country.

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in entrepreneurship among young people in Malawi. Many programs and initiatives have been launched to support and encourage young entrepreneurs. For example, the Malawi Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) provides training, mentorship, and funding for young entrepreneurs.

There are also several success stories of young entrepreneurs in Malawi. For instance, Kondwani Kachamba Ngwira, a young inventor, who does provide training for free especially in manufacturing processes.

I quote one woman (Doreen Zimtambira) in a post I have gone through about him where she described that these trainings as timely for they would help her achieve financial independence and improve the economy of the country.

I now make a quick analysis. What more if Malawian leaders would be like Kondwani who puts the country, Malawi at heart? Imagine, my small brain begins to think like: should Kondwani Kachamba Ngwira be our leader? His passion for us is more than what we get promised by our politicians.

In a nutshell, the power of young innovative entrepreneurship in Malawi cannot be underestimated. Surely Kondwani Ngwira deserves a recognition, tangible one that would allow him to serve Malawians perfectly. With the right support and encouragement, young entrepreneurs can drive economic growth and create positive change in their communities. I feel like Kondwani should be given a fertile period to serve us.

JB praises Namadingo-Says the Mapulani hit-maker better than Lulu

By McLloyd Kudzingo

Musician Patience Namadingo has been doing a number of corporate social responsibility work over the recent years. The charity work by the singer has not gone unnoticed.

US- based Malawian hip-hop artist Jolly Bro popularly known as JB has praised Namadingo’s charity work in helping the vulnerable in the country.

JB said this in a Facebook live video which he did in response to claims made by another musician Lulu who claimed in an interview that he doesn’t know the ‘Khala Pansi’ hit-maker.

In the video JB claimed that Lulu refused to perform at a show organized by the outspoken rapper which was meant to support the Cyclone Freddy victims in the country.

JB said unlike Namadingo, the ‘Mbambande’ hit-maker is one selfish artist who doesn’t want to give back to the community.

JB went on to say that if he was given a chance to choose a good artist between Lulu and Namadingo, he would have gone for Namadingo.

He said Namadingo’s style of music is good and unlike Lulu, Namadingo does quite a lot in helping the needy in the country.

JB cited the recent help that Namadingo offered to fellow musician Lawi, when he performed at his show for free after the Congolese musician Awilo Longomba failed to show up at the show.

Among the numerous charity works, Namadingo initiated a campaign meant to raise K1.2 million that was to be donated to the Children’s Cancer Ward at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.

Namadingo also raised over K4.5 million to help fellow musician, late William Kachigamba for his cancer treatment in Zambia.

Last year, Namadingo alongside Eli Njuchi and Driemo performed at a fundraising show for needy college students which took place at Bingu International Conversation Center (BICC).

In 2020, the singer received a doctorate degree in community development by the University of South Africa (Unisa).

Black Isco said the much anticipated song was produced by Jasondus in Lilongwe, and recorded in Blantyre.

“I am currently working on my sixth album called ‘Berlinetta Thoughts’. The album will be one of the my best works.”

The artist went on to describe the current Malawi’s music industry as the one which is performing better than before.

He described: ” There is more opportunity today than 10 years ago. It is also easier to reach listeners and even to put together shows independently because of the increased availability of information, thanks in part to the internet. Of course there’s plenty to be done to improve the industry including more investment in sound equipment both in the studio and on stage, there can be more collaboration as well, but also when it comes to live shows we need to be more professional, show up on time to perform, and promoters should also compensate artists fairly.”

He then called on fellow musicians in the country to always have confident and dream high if they are to do amazing work in their music carrier.

Black Isco started making music in 2009.

He took a 6 year break from 2012 to 2018 to focus on education and work as a sales consultant at a certain company.

The artist has 59 songs and 20 to 30 features with other artists such as C-Scripture, Sage Poet and The King’s Rifles.
