Kell Kay finally reveals the truth about him and Martse

Singer Kell Kay whose name has largely been involved in Martse’s death conspiracy theories has finally come out in the open to reveal details of his relationship with the late Singer Martin Nkhata (Martse)

Days after a Prophet Chikoko, the last person to chat with Martse revealed that Kelly Kay would probably have been involved in the demise of the talented rapper- Kay has taken time to address his fans through his social media page.

Martse died in a fire accident in Mangochi in May this year, but recently conspiracy theories have been strong that the rapper was ritually murdered.

The full statement from Kell Kay is as follows

“No one deserves to work so hard in his career and make a name for himself and have this same name thrown in the mad in a day simply because someone recorded a video badmouthing me and yet he has zero evidence about what he’s saying.

Martse was my best friend at a point in time, I loved him like a brother but moyo ndi moyo we eventually fell off because of something that happened in the past. I kept quiet for years not telling people what happened between me and my brother martse because i left it and moved on from the situation. The reason was burried until that prophet mukuti ndani Kaya wakamba something that I have kept for so long komwe kuli kulakwitsa. We all moved on and after about 5 years mukuzibwelesa,kuti zimveke bwanji? There’s a reason why I kept quiet and said nothing plus I respect people’s privacy.

Martse apologized to me after years, we were okay koma not like before. Trust me I don’t wanna say anything bad about my late brother but because of his behavior he was left out on my show not kuti ndimamuda ayi we made peace and honest to God I forgave him nazitaya zomwe anandipangila mbuyomu. I remember last year @sand music festival we went to mangochi and perfomed together, @lifest we perfomed together and this same year in mzuzu @queens club we perfomed together. I never hated him in any way but because of his behaviour which I don’t want to go into details about, him and I were not close like before.

When he got into that accident people wanted me to cancel my show, something that I had planned for months and spent a lot of money on. The international artists were already in the country, it was impossible to cancel the show.

I prayed for him personally, as a country we prayed for him, family and friends all prayed for martse but he left us and I had never been so broken 💔 😭😭😭 no one deserves to die like that. I asked God why, I cried and cried, but only He (God) knows best.

Because of how close me and Martse were, my whole family came to the funeral to pay their last respects to him but anadabwa ndikupasidwa security kuti sindingatuluke ndekha because anthu akufuna alimbane nane🥺

I have been malo ambili and I never go with security koma for the 1st time in my life,I was told I needed security, and it happened to be at my friends funeral. I saw tears in my mother’s eyes,my sisters as well, crying that Martse is gone and feeling sorry for me. Then naletsedwa kupita ku manda akuti anthu akulimbanabe nane naletsedwa kupita kunyumba kwanga akuti anthu akufuna kukaphwanya my house . My wife rushed home to get our baby Octavia ndikuthawako 😭 I was so down but I left everything in God’s hands.

2 months down the line, zayambilanso and that pastor kaya muti ndani says 3 people are connected to martse’s death and he mentioned my name pompo saying I’m partly connected mmmh may God forgive you.

I don’t understand how my name is connected to bushiri, for starters, I do not go to ECG, I’m SDA. Ndimamvanso mphekesela kuti people were saying he sponsored my show kuti kubwele mafikizolo ati ineyo ndilibe ndalama, zonsezo zabodza. The only sponsors for my recent show were FDH bank and that’s it.

I launched my first album in 2019 I had no sponsors at all.

I launched it in Blantyre and only safintra and agri-zone international came through for me.

I have done shows but I have never been sponsored by bushiri, I have 2 albums now sanandigulekonso olo kamodzi, anthu ena osiyana siyana are the ones that have been buying my albums. I am only friends with gwamba, who is bushiri’s in law.

This news has affected me and my family so much, mind you, I went to school but not once have I used my degree. I am strictly in the music industry and that’s what puts food on my table now you want to destroy all that?

To Martse’s family, please let us mourn Martse in peace, don’t look for someone to blame chonde, let God be God ngati alipo someone connected to his death God will expose them musalimbane ndi anthu osalakwa ayi. May God bless you.

DPP supporters admit fate as APM-Nankhumwa power struggle deepens

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) followers in Mzimba and Lilongwe have admitted that their wish to have their party leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and embattled Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa, reunite is merely a daylight dream.

The DPP diehards, speaking in random interviews on Friday and Saturday, expressed disappointment that both Mutharika and Nankhumwa do not seem to care about the welfare of Malawians who expected the party to provide constructive advice to the Tonse Alliance government in Parliament.

Politics of mudslinging and smear have characterized life and activities in the erstwhile governing party following the drawing of daggers between the two once-upon-a-time political bedfellows, with Nankhumwa – who is also the party’s vice president for South – refusing to take instructions from his boss.

Such is the depth of enmity in the once mighty DPP. The party is currently surviving on court injunctions, and there are fears among supporters that this chaos will persist beyond the 2025 general elections.

Speaking on behalf of DPP supporters in Kapopo Area in Mzimba, Justice Zimba said the endless power struggle and court battles between the Mutharika and Nankhumwa factions do not inspire Malawians to continue trusting the party leadership.

“We are not even sure if the party will contest in the next elections with these divisions. Won’t we have a scenario where both camps will field their own candidates in wards and constituencies?” asked Zimba who comes from Kamundenga Village in Traditional Authority M’mbelwa.

A DPP diehard residing at Jenda Trading Centre, Connex Chizewe Kwenda said the wrangles in their party is a wake-up call for them to switch their support to other parties.

“We can’t have a party where infighting is the order of the day. We certainly cannot afford to have leadership who are always battling over internal positions,” said Kwenda.

The disappointment has not spared DPP supporters resident in Lilongwe. Maria Phiri of Area 50 said she no longer trusts both Mutharika and Nankhumwa.

Phiri argued that the hunger for power between Mutharika and Nankhumwa is a threat to national development; hence, the need for Malawians to shun such politicians.

Meanwhile, the Mutharika and Nankhumwa camps have announced that they will hold mega rallies at Nyambadwe School Ground in Blantyre this month end.

DPP Southern Region Governor Charles Mchacha protested Nankhumwa’s intention to hold his rally without seeking clearance from the party leader.

In his letter to Nankhumwa, Mchacha said the Leader of Opposition in Parliament will only be allowed to conduct the stated rally at Nyambadwe School Group upon getting consent from party President Peter Mutharika.

“Your intention to hold a mass rally on July 31 2022 at Nyambadwe School Ground is noted. You are however advised to seek approval from the President of the party, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika before you proceed with your plans as party protocol and etiquette demands. You will be allowed to hold the Mass Rally and Meet Southern Region Executive Committee only when you get such approval,” reads part of the letter.

But Nankhumwa has refused to “bootlick Mutharika” and has declared that his planned mega rally will go ahead.

In a defiant response to Mchacha, Nankhumwa said he will proceed with the rally as earlier planned.

In a letter Nankhumwa indicated soon he will be having a meeting with some party officials from the region to plan for the rally.

It reads: “I write to inform you that I have decided in my capacity as Vice President South to address a Mass Rally at Nyambadwe School Ground on July 31, 2022. By virtue of this letter I will soon be calling for a meeting of the Regional Executive Meeting to start preparations for the Rally.”

Apparently, Mchacha does not have enough influence in the party despite being entrusted with the responsibility to govern the Southern Region where Nankhumwa seems too powerful to be silenced by people like Mchacha.

Nankhumwa continues to gain ground both in and outside parliament as the Mutharika faction continues to falter.

President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera says where evidence is available, he will claim back all the resources that have been siphoned out of the country to foreign nations through corrupt transactions.

Chakwera stated this while speaking at the opening of a two – day national anti – corruption conference under the theme, ‘resetting the nation’s moral tone’ on Monday at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre.

In his remarks, Chakwera said Malawi will no longer accept corruption and illicit theft of its resources in any form saying gone are the days where scramble for Africa was an acceptable crime.

“We have had our resources externalized to the United Kingdom through procurement fraud. We have had our gold externalized to the United Arab Emirates and China through export fraud. We have had our precious rubies externalized to the United States through mining fraud,” emphasized Chakwera.

“This kind of plunder of our country is no longer going to be tolerated from anybody from any country and where we find evidence of our resources being externalized illegally to another country, we are going to demand those resources to be returned to us.”


Chakwera said he has since directed Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC) to initiate the process of reactivating Malawi’s membership in Open Government Partnership in order to raise the level of accountability across government in using international tools and standards in the fight against corruption.

“Malawi’s membership in the Open Government Partnership became inactive under the previous administration and we will soon have a road map to see it reactivated by the end of this year. This is in recognition of the fact that we need the support of the international community in our quest for good governance because so much of the plunder against our nation involves international transactions and the externalization of our resources,” he emphasized.

Chakwera advised delegates to the two day event to come up with new approaches to fight corruption.

He also called on the delegates to define the role of each and every stakeholder in the fight against corruption.

Speaking earlier, Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo said his ministry has put in place measures that are aimed at strengthening the legal framework in the fight against corruption one of which being the establishment of a financial crimes court.

He said the court amendment bill to facilitate the establishment of the special court will be tabled in the current sitting of parliament.

President Lazarus Chakwera has declared twenty weeks of campaign against corruption in the country, saying this will be a time to reset the moral tone of the nation.

Making his address as he launched a two-day Anti-Corruption National Conference at Mount Soche in Blantyre on Monday, July 25,2022, President Chakwera told the nation that the period between July 25 and December 1,2022 has been designated for vigorous campaign against corruption across Malawi in every sector.



He said: “We have designated twenty weeks between now and the International Anti-Corruption Day in December as a time to campaign against corruption across Malawi, a time to reset the moral tone of our nation through a special and intensified Anti-Corruption Campaign across the country.

And so from this conference, each stakeholder group must declare how they will participate in that fight using the platforms, resources, and opportunities that are uniquely at their disposal.”

Additionally, President Chakwera urged the participants to the conference to come up with new Anti-Corruption approach that brings all relevant institutions, duty-bearers, and office bearers together in safeguarding the sustainability of the fight beside their desired results that they are funded to produce.

Chakwera who started his speech by reminding Malawians about gross electoral corruption and fraud of 2019 that led to the country to go for Fresh Presidential polls in 2020, told the conference that he has called for the conference to renew his commitment to the pursuit of a new Malawi in which Malawians at all levels of the society play their unique role in the fight against corruption.

“Five righteous judges of the Constitutional Court unanimously ruled that 2019 presidential election had indeed been so corrupted as to render it Unconstitutional. And so three months and three days later, on the first Wednesday of May, I walked into this very same room, to present to Dr. Jane Ansah my nomination papers as presidential candidate for the Malawi Congress Party, with Dr. Chilima at my side as a running mate on account of the national coalition we had forged under the banner of the Tonse Alliance.

In my address on that occasion, to dozens of Malawians who had gathered in this room on that day, and hundreds of thousands who had filled every street from here to Ndirande, from Ndirande to Chichiri, from Chichiri to Limbe, from Limbe to Kanjedza, from Kanjedza to Naperi, and from Naperi to Mount Pleasant, and to millions more who were watching around the country, I declared on that occasion that it was our destiny and calling from God to change status quo of state corruption and fraud, and that no force on earth could stop our pursuit to that change.”

President Chakwera has since described the conference as a golden opportunity for Malawi to raise a level of public engagement issues of corruption which is a matter of national interest.

This conference is being conducted under the theme: Resetting the Nation’s Moral Tone”, and among the participants who made presentations to the conference were Ezilon Kasoka from ACB, Liness Chikankheni from the Ministry of Justice, and a renown world commentator Professor Patrick Lumumba who once served as the Director of the Kenyan Anti-Corruption Commission.

President Chakwera unites Malawians through all-inclusive anti-corruption Conference

I have heard about the phrase “business unusual” for long enough but it was during the 2014 campaign or prior to that when this phrase was mostly used by politicians of stature who were considered big enough to win that election from Lazarus Chakwera, then in opposition, Joyce Banda the incumbent President, Peter Mutharika and Atupele Muluzi who were both having a go at the Presidency as well.

In the run up to the 2019 disputed election this line resurfaced even President Peter Mutharika, the sitting President at the time in whose tenure was indifferent to the notion of “business unusual”, as he was no different from Bakili Muluzi and his brother Bingu before him joined the choruses gloated this line without an iota of shame. The tune became tired but they continue using it nonetheless because they knew many Malawians will be hooked into believing that they will be different from the leaders of the past.

It was until President Lazurus McCarthy Chakwera assumed the reigns of power that this phrase begun making sense. In the last 24 months of President Chakwera we have witnessed the new ways of doing things especially in respect to fighting corruption. Politicians are good at lip service but those days are long gone.

President Lazarus Chakwera’s commitment to fighting graft is unequalled, there is no casual approach in his way of going about it as it used to be. As a lead figure President Chakwera has been fighting graft on all angles and in those fronts, he has been fighting from the front. In his determination to wipe out the vice.

President Chakwera realized that the fight against graft will amount to nothing if the Ant-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is underfunded and understaffed. This is why we have seen the exponential rise in budgetary allocation to the graft busting body and revamping of its staff capacity for the first time since the ACB was established over twenty years ago.

President Chakwera has constantly preached the need for all Malawians to come together in combating common challenges. Particularly I am always reminded of what he said on 7 May this year at a development rally in Mchinji when he asked Malawians to unite in the fight against different vices affecting our country. This clarion was born out of his belief of a shared responsibilities where everyone is encouraged to take part in finding lasting solutions to our common challenges.

The hosting of the National Anti-Corruption Conference today is exactly what President Chakwera has been advocating: Unity of purpose. The two-day all-inclusive gathering pull together people from diverse background including the private sector, the media, the civil society, the clergy, government agencies and Malawians in general.

The conference which has been jointly organized by the Ministry of Justice and the ACB is reflecting on the theme “Resetting the Nation’s Moral Tone”. This theme augers well with what Malawians have been saying that we are failing to deal with graft because we focus on addressing the symptoms without necessarily dealing the cause.
It appears that some agencies bought into President Chakwera’s call for unity in fighting graft. The case in point is the call by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Steve Kayuni for all the state agencies to work together if the war against corruption is to be won

In a letter to the Director General of ACB Martha Chizuma, Kayuni said no single agency can win against criminality. He said the fight against corruption is always a joint effort regardless of the independence these offices have.
Weighing in the call for unity iat the conference was the renowned visiting public speaker Professor Patrice Lumumba who eloquently said the battle against corruption is not for the President, it is not for ACB alone, it is not for the office of the Director of Public Prosecution and not even for just a single segment of the society but a responsibility of all Malawians.

And what happened during the panel discussion at the conference is what the conference is set out to achieve: inclusiveness. It was encouraging that public figures such as Secretary to the President and Cabinet Collin Zamba representing the Civil Service, Jimmy Lipunga from the Private Sector, Justice Dorothy Kamanga representing the Judiciary and Professor Happy Kayuni from the University of Malawi representing the academia sharing the stage.

During the plenary session we also saw the rare sight of display of diversity when a little-known student from the University of Malawi Gabriel Nyondo contributing to the discussion alongside Moses Mkandawire of Church and Society of CCAP’s Livingstonia Synod and Wakuda Kamanga the Secretary General of the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD).
