Kamtukule

The minister commended her team for their dedication and love for the country, saying their commitment had made her journey rich with lessons and memories.

“Tourism is not merely about destinations or attractions,it is about people. It is about the porters guiding travelers up Mulanje, the chefs serving warm meals in village kitchens, the communities safeguarding our heritage, and the youth daring to dream bigger for their future. Tourism is joy, it is unity, it is nation-building,” she said.

Kamtukule also pointed to the country’s achievements in the sector, including successful participation in international expos, strides in policy reforms, and efforts to elevate the country’s story on the global stage while empowering local citizens.

“As we open this year’s Tourism Month, we begin by doing what we do best coming together.Sharing food, sharing stories, sharing hope. Looking back with gratitude at how far we’ve come, and looking ahead with conviction to the greatness still to be written,” she said.

The minister thanked her colleagues at the ministry and dedicated the celebrations to the people of the country, stressing that all achievements in tourism are for them, with them and because of them.

Tourism Month, celebrated annually, serves as a platform to promote Malawi’s culture, heritage, and attractions while encouraging both domestic and international tourism.

This year’s tourism day, which falls on September 27, is being commemorated under the theme ‘Tourism and Sustainable Transformation’.

Nic Thindwa Set to Release Electrifying New Single “NDILOMWELI” Ahead of Elections

By Durell Namasani

UK based Malawian  artist Nicholas Thindwa, widely known as Nic Thindwa, is making a powerful return to the music scene with his latest single “Ndilomweli,” scheduled for release in September 2025.

The song, produced by the acclaimed Pon G is crafted to resonate with Malawi’s electorate as the country prepares for upcoming polls. Thindwa, celebrated for his ability to blend various themes with urban beats, has created a catchy, anthem-like track that encourages civic engagement and reflection .

Thindwa’s career spans over two decades, marked by his unique fusion of gospel, hip-hop, and Afrobeat. Born in Nsanje and raised in Lilongwe, he began his musical journey at age eight with the CCAP choir and later honed his skills with the Livingwaters Praise Team. Since relocating to the UK in 2003, he has released numerous hits, including “Muli Mphamvu” (2017) and “Osadandaula,” which established him as a voice for both spiritual and social causes. His 2018 album Muli Mphamvu showcased his versatility, featuring gospel and love songs, while his collaboration with Brenda Kadammanja in 2022 demonstrated his knack for merging traditional Malawian rhythms with modern production .

Politically, Thindwa is no stranger to activism. His 2018 single “Nyanja Yathu” addressed the Lake Malawi boundary dispute with Tanzania, firmly supporting Malawi’s sovereignty and President Mutharika’s stance. Another track, “Tikufuna Chakwera” (2019), echoed public sentiment during Malawi’s election highlighting his role as a diasporic advocate for change. His music often mirrors national dialogues, blending cultural pride with calls for accountability .

With “ndilomweli,” Thindwa continues this tradition, using his platform to inspire and mobilize listeners. The single promises to be both a musical and cultural touchstone, reinforcing his legacy as an artist unafraid to tackle pressing issues through rhythm and rhyme.
