Nyasa Big Bullets moved top of TNM Super League following their thrilling 2-1 victory over Silver Strikers at Kamuzu stadium on Friday.

Substitute Precious Phiri gave the people’s team the much needed victory with a beautiful finish from Sankhani Mkwandawire’s assist in the 81st minute.

The visitors were the first to score in the last minutes of the first half through Herbert Wayekha but Bullets equalised early in the second half through captain Chimwemwe Idana, who was also voted player of the match.

Speaking after the game, Bullets acting coach Peter Mponda praised his charges for the fighting spirit.

He said, “I should say congrats to my boys, Silver were hard on us. We studied their formation and tried to get an early goal but this did not happen in first 45 minutes.

“They(Silver) were very organised and unfortunately we conceded through a set piece. I told the boys not to loose hope, that’s why we fought back, got the equaliser and eventually win the game.”

His counterpart, Macdonald Nginde Mtetemera, expressed disappointment with the loss but was quick to say his team will bounce back.

“We have lost today, I can’t say much because these are technical issues. We will go back and work on our weak areas, a two-point gap is too scarely to us but hopefully we will bounce back,” he said.

Following Friday’s win, Bullets are on the driving seat with 48 points followed by the central bankers with 46 points but the people’s team have a game in hand.

Bullets are also expected to travel to Tanzania where they will take part in the CECAFA Kagame Club Cup slated to take place in Dar-es-Salaam from August 1 to 15.

Pioneer mobile network services provider TNM Plc has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCoM) to recruit young Malawians as sales agents of mobile products and services in the community.

Coming on the back of the recent launch of TNM Mudzi Wathu initiative, the pact will facilitate formation of youth-owned and managed enterprises plying TNM products and services, among them Mpamba.

NYCoM Executive Director Dingiswayo Jere touted the agreement as a solution towards government’s efforts to create scarce jobs for the youth.

Malawi’s unemployment rate of over five percent is considered one of the highest in Africa where job creation has stalled due to effects of Covid-19 pandemic. The virus has snowballed job losses leading to loss of incomes and with it drastic cuts in consumer spending patterns as economies take the hit.

“We at the Youth Council are very happy because this partnership is going to create thousands of jobs as youth unemployment has reached epic proportions in this country,” said Jere.

He said the agreement has come at the right time when TNM has launched the Mudzi Wathu initiative which will create a medium to transform young people’s mindset to embrace mobile network technology as the catalyst for economic growth in communities.

TNM CEO Arnold Mbwana said under the partnership TNM will support NYCoM in the running of youth economic empowerment programs across the country through the Youth Innovation Fund.

Mbwana said it will further help increase access by the youth to affordable and youth friendly financial and digital services through TNM Mpamba and other products.

“The partnership will facilitate creation of TNM Mpamba branches by youth organisations and clubs under the National Youth Council of Malawi. Therefore, this will see the establishment of TNM Mpamba branches and kiosks the country to enhance financial inclusion,” he said.

The MoU is for a period of five years and subject of review after every two years. During the period, outstanding young people in various communities will be recognized for their contribution in local development.

“This cover ‘Mobisala Mwanga’ was recorded a couple of months ago after seeking consent from the owner ‘Sweeney Chimkango’ whilst he was alive,” he said.

Though the first cover version was recorded some months ago, Mutsinze didn’t hit the recording studio with plans to release the song today.

But with Chimkango’s death, the singer just thought of releasing the song after making some minor changes to honour the veteran musician who started singing at a very tender age at Church.

He said, “When I heard about Sweeney’s death, I was so touched and I just thought of releasing the song considering the powerful aspect of it. The message for this song is just so powerful and that’s the same reason i did the cover for it.”

” I never wanted to release any of the songs from my forthcoming album (Tribute) but I have been forced to release the remake ‘Mobisala Mwanga’ after Sweeney’s death.

“I have just changed some areas to make it a perfect tribute to Sweeney whose impact in the local music industry cannot be over emphasized” he said.

According to Mutsinze ‘Tribute’ the album will contain both ‘Mobisala Mwanga’ first cover and the latest cover which is a special dedication to the late musician.

Born on 18th August in 1963 Chimkango breathed his last on Thursday morning at Blantyre Adventist Hospital where he was admitted after testing postive to Covid-19.

Up untill his death, Chimkango was Malawi Broadcasting Cooperation (MBC) Acting Controller of Programmes, TV side where he had been working since its inception in 1999.

According to Chimkango’s brother McDonald, Sweeney will be laid to rest at his home village in Makwasa Thyolo district.

The High Court has ordered Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) to pay Reliance Trading K234,600,001.500 for 1, 400 N95 face masks that the company supplied to CMST.

Reliance Trading, through their lawyers Phokoso and Company, took the matter to court after CMST refused to pay after the company dully supplied the masks.

In his ruling dated May 25, 2021 High Court Judge Michael Mtambo ruled that CMST should pay Reliance Trading within 30 days of the order.

Documents in our possession show that in February 2021, CMST ordered from Reliance Trading the 140,000 N95 Masks valued at the sum of K234,600,001.500 through a local purchase order number CMST 000719 as an urgent purchase.

High Court Judge Michael Mtambo

The order specified that the Masks ordered for purchase were N95 masks, which were the same Masks that the company had previously supplied on an immediate past order and on which the course of dealing between the parties in regards to Mask supplies was built.

Reliance Trading accepted the Local Purchase Order and managed to source the masks.

On 5th February 202I, the company delivered the masks to CMST who took delivery and dully executed a delivery note.

CMST, further after the delivery, told the company that the masks supplied had been approved by the Ministry of Health and that it was processing payment.

However, in breach of the concluded Contract of the sale of the goods, on March 2, 2021 , Reliance Trading received an email from the CMST informing them that the masks had been rejected by their customer and requested the company to collect the goods.

CMST further refused to pay the price for the goods, in further breach of the Contract.

This forced Reliance Trading to seek court redress because as a result of the CMST actions, the company has suffered loss and damages.

Patience Namadingo’s new song ‘Kakaka’ has met mixed reactions on social media.

Recently, the singer who has just relocated to Zambia, released another single ‘Lalala’ which he featured Taygrin.

Just a week after releasing Lalala , the Msati Mseke hit-maker released the much anticipated song ‘Kakaka’ on Monday at exactly 7 o’clock in the evening.

Part of the song goes..

“Chikondi sakaka/ sakakamizana/
Chikondi sitikakamilaaaa/
Ngati watopa mulekee/
Ngati walema muchokeleee/”

Making his comment on Facebook, Inabul La Amas says Namadingo has lost direction.
“Our Zambian brothers have bewitched Namadingo. They want to turn him into General Kanene. Doc please come back and start making good music again. Iyiyi ili shallow heavy..”

“But it can’t change the fact that Ntendele is the only hit song you did,” said another Facebook user Paul Maccaveri

Music producer and graphic designer Best B Two Balala seams to be agreeing with La Amasi;
“The songs sound the same… the only time he did something new was when he dropped ‘Msati Mseke’ zinazi sounds like achina Julie a Annie Matumbi mpaka Julie part 17 smh… akalambula bwalo awa… make way for the king.”

Another music follower Victor Daffres says just like some other singles that the artist has been releasing, Kakaka is just okay only that the artist needs not to be releasing songs frequently.

“The production is on point….It’s just that we’ve heard so much of music from him within a short space of time.”

Dala Chimombo believes Namadingo’s new song is one of the best songs that have so far been released this year.

Meanwhile, the so called Namadingo’s rival, Amaryllis Hotel brand ambassador, Onesimus has also released a new song title Maria which he has featured one the of the best South African singers Vusi Nova.
