TNM Mpamba partners Sand Music Festival-To sell tickets in selected shops

In its quest to fulfill the objective of supporting the arts, culture and tourism industry, leading mobile financial services provider TNM Mpamba Ltd has renewed its relationship with the Sand Music Festival as communication and ticketing partner.

As part of the partnership TNM Mpamba will enable this year’s festival-goers buy and redeem their physical tickets at designated TNM shops.

Said Chris Sukasuka, TNM Mpamba General Manager; “TNM Mpamba idea is to appreciate our customers and demonstrate that we are a smart network that is part of their social and cultural life. Our hope is that this partnership will enhance ticket access convenience and support the event budget.”

Sukasuka said as one of the country’s biggest calendar events, the Sand Music Festival offers a huge platform to expose the country’s tourism and arts potential on the rest of the world hence act as a major booster to Malawi’s tourism prospects.

“We are happy to once again partner with the Malawi’s annual biggest festival. The festival provides a platform where patrons appreciate the country’s arts and culture, therefore, developing tourism industry,” said Sukasuka.

Sand Music Festival Lead Coordinator Nkhwachi Mhango applauded TNM Mpamba for the brand’s renewed interest in the project saying it would help improve ticket sales accountability and cushion the event’s budgetary needs.

“What is happening in this partnership is that people will go to TNM shops where they will buy tickets and money will be transferred into a special Sand Festival accounts. This integration guarantees accountability and minimizes fraud in ticketing transactions,” said Mhango.

Customers will be buying and redeeming their physical tickets from the following designated TNM shops; Salima, Zomba, Mangochi, Mzuzu (Shoprite), Lilongwe (Crossroads and Gateway Mall shops) and Blantyre (Shoprite Shop).

So far, customers started purchasing the tickets at a discounted price of K30,000 from 3 September until 8 September when the promotional offer ended. Now customers are buying tickets at K35, 000 until 2 October 2021. Tickets are only available through Mpamba in the following designated TNM shops: Salima, Zomba, Mangochi, Mzuzu Shoprite, LL Crossroads, LL Gateway Mall & Chichiri Shopping Mall.

The main opposition party, the Democratic Progressive Party ( DPP) has appointed a Member of Parliament( MP) for Mangochi South West Constituency Shadreck Namalomba as the new party’s Spokesperson replacing Brown James Mpinganjira.

In a statement signed by the party’s administrative secretary Francis Mphepo, Mpinganjira has been stepped down from the position due to other competing priorities.

There has been leadership wrangle in DPP since its loss during the fresh presidential elections in 2020.

Few weeks ago, the part announced that it has plans to restructure itself in preparation for the 2025 generation where 3 National Executive Members are to be move and reinstated including that of the current leader or opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa.

Another Tragedy: 8 People Killed In Chitipa Road Accident

The Director of Health Services at Chitipa District Hospital Wilson Ching’ani has confirmed the death of eight people after a truck they were travelling in plunged into Kaseye River along Ifumbo-Lufita earth road in the district.

According to Ching’ani, 64 people have been injured and are currently admitted at the hospital with two in critical condition.

Chitipa Police Spokesperson Gladwell Simwaka says the truck had 72 members of African International Church on board.

He said the driver of the truck, Kingsley Mlenga failed to control the vehicle at Kaseye Bridge and hit the side of the bridge where it broke the planks and plunged into the river.

According to a police report, Mlenga was driving a Fuso Fighter, registration number RU 1141, from Ifumbo going to Lufita.

Silver Strikers Demolishes Mighty Wanderers to reach FDH Cup Final

Silver Strikers are through to the FDH Cup finals after demolishing Mighty Wanderers 3-0 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Silver took the lead through man-of-the match Patrick Macheso 36 minutes in the first half.

The central bankers doubled their lead in the second half through Blessings Tembo who scored in the 57th minute.

Wanderers goalie Richard Chipuwa then had to deny Mark Fodya to prevent the central bankers increasing their lead but the defender came back some minutes later to get Silver’s third goal.

Silver will now meet Ekwendeni in the finals

Wanderers made a couple of substitutions introducing Felix Zulu for Vitumbiko Kumwenda and Peter Cholopi for Yunus Sherrif but this did not help as the capital city giants looked more determined to get to the final.

Silver will now face Ekwendeni Hammers in the final at a venue to be announced by the football governing body.

The sponsorship package for the FDH Cup is at 90 million Kwacha and winners are expected to walk away with 25 million Kwacha while runners up will take home 8 million Kwacha.

Chitipa United increases survival chances in TNM Super League

Chitipa United has lifted up it’s survival chances in the Elite tnm super league after a 1 nill win against TN Stars on Saturday.

The game played at Karonga’s soccer cathedral saw Chitipa United start the match with pressure on the visitor’s side in the first half.
The efforts placed in the first half yielded Chitipa United a leading goal courtesy of Alex Benson which was a header at the 42nd minute of the match.

The second half saw Chitipa United defend their leading goal with reduced pressure to the opponents who failed to create any meaningful chances.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Chitipa United coach, Christopher Nyambose expressed joy over the win saying this was a win win game as they aim at surviving relegation in the league.
“I am happy that we have won the game and we deserved the win because this was a win win game for us as we want to escape relegation, so I have to thank my boys for working tirelessly to the end.” He said.
He has since promised his team’s supporters that his team cannot be relegated and they will win the next games.

In a separate interview, TN Stars coach, Josephy Malizani alluded the defeat to lack of preparation for the match.
“This defeat is to us a clear sign that we were not prepared for the game as players gave up after conceding a goal but this is part of the game and we will sort this out as we return to training sessions.” He said
He has since thanked his players for obtaining a point from the game against Karonga United on Saturday.

With the win, Chitipa United now has 29 points equaling with Blue Eagles which is also on the red line in the league while TN Stars remains with 40 points.
