Chakwera calls on Malawians to unite in nation-building efforts

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has encouraged Malawians to take an active role in building a self-reliant nation.

Speaking at the launch of the Raise the Flag Summit 2025 at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe on Friday, Chakwera emphasized the importance of collective effort and dedication to the country’s development.

“We should demonstrate our love for the nation by contributing to various sectors, not just for recognition, but as a genuine display of patriotism,” he said.

The president highlighted that the Raise the Flag initiative aims to foster patriotism and a strong work ethic among Malawians, encouraging citizens to take ownership of national challenges and work together to address them.

On his part,Wealth Magazine Managing Executive Harry Chima outlined the campaign’s objectives, which include addressing weak public service, promoting local innovation, and advancing the Agriculture, Technology, and Mining (ATM) strategy.

The summit targeted a broad audience, including individuals, the private and public sectors, civil society, and local leaders, under the theme ‘Redefining Our Culture, Revolutionizing and Accelerating Growth.’

Mudi SACCO Limited launches Tikondwere 35 promotion

Mudi SACCO Limited on Friday launched the Tikondwere 35 Promotion, a cash prize promotion celebrating the organization’s 35th anniversary.

The promotion, running from July 1 to November 30,2025, offers a grand prize of K5 million, with second and third prizes of K3 million and K2 million, respectively.

In an interview with journalists,Mudi SACCO Chief Executive Officer(CEO ) Triza Magreta said the cash prizes will enable winners to invest in ventures of their choice.



She said to participate, members must meet specific requirements, including obtaining a loan of at least K500,000, doubling their monthly share contribution, or opening a fixed deposit account with a minimum of K200,000.

Magreta said the promotion also includes special terms for youth savings account holders, who must make a deposit of at least K100,000 to be eligible.

On her part,Malawi Union of Credit and Savings Cooperatives Chapter One Coordinator Sheenah Litah encouraged members to participate in the promotion, emphasizing the benefits of borrowing smarter and growing the sacco.

Throughout the promotion period, Mudi Sacco will also distribute monthly goodies, including branded merchandise such as T-shirts, water bottles, umbrellas, and diaries. Litah urged existing members to invite friends and family to join the sacco and take advantage of its benefits.
