Dorothy Kingston speaks out as manipulated nude video resurfaces

By Rahim Abdul

Dorothy Kingston, a well-known public figure and entrepreneur, has moved to address a troubling incident that has resurfaced online, involving a manipulated nudity video falsely linked to her name.

In a statement released this week, Kingston clarified that the explicit footage circulating on social media is a product of cyber manipulation and not an authentic representation of her.

According to Kingston, the ordeal dates back nearly a decade. She explained that nine years ago, while living abroad, she discovered that unknown individuals had maliciously superimposed her face onto explicit content without her consent.

In an attempt to counter looming blackmail threats, she chose to publicly expose the manipulation and report the incident to authorities in the country where she was staying at the time.An official statement was issued in her defense.

However, despite efforts to put the matter to rest, the doctored video has reappeared in Malawi since her return in 2019, causing fresh waves of speculation and online chatter.

Kingston expressed deep concern that the video continues to circulate, describing it as a cruel form of cybercrime meant to tarnish her reputation and exploit her image.

“I want to assure the public that I am not associated with this video in any way.It is a clear case of manipulation, and those responsible are engaging in criminal behavior,”she said.

Kingston, who represents a brand known for professionalism and integrity, emphasized that neither she nor her business tolerates any form of exploitation. She warned that such digital attacks not only threaten personal dignity but also harm the broader community by normalizing abuse and misinformation.

In her statement, she urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or malicious online content to the relevant authorities. She noted that the rise of digital editing tools has made it easier for bad actors to fabricate damaging materials, making public awareness and caution more important than ever.

Social Media influencers and business leader face death penalty over election unrest charges

Defendants accused of inciting demonstrations to obstruct national elections as authorities intensify crackdown on dissent

By Burnett Munthali

A group of social media influencers and a prominent businessperson have been charged with inciting demonstrations aimed at disrupting the country’s recent election.

Authorities allege that the accused deliberately used their platforms and influence to mobilize citizens to protest against the electoral process, which the government says was an attempt to obstruct national stability.

According to prosecutors, the defendants’ actions were part of a wider plan to delegitimize the election and create public disorder during the crucial voting period.

The individuals have been charged under national security laws that carry severe penalties, including the death sentence, if found guilty.

Legal experts and human rights defenders have expressed concern over the harsh nature of the charges, warning that the case could set a dangerous precedent for freedom of expression and political activism.

Reports indicate that the accused were arrested shortly after large demonstrations erupted in major cities following allegations of electoral irregularities and voter intimidation.

The protests, which were largely organized through social media platforms, drew thousands of participants demanding transparency and accountability from the electoral commission.

Authorities, however, maintain that the demonstrations were unlawful and intended to destabilize the country at a sensitive political time.

Government officials have accused the influencers and the businessperson of using their popularity and financial resources to fuel anti-government sentiment.

Observers say the case reflects growing tensions between state institutions and a digitally active population increasingly using social media as a platform for political expression.

Rights organizations have called on the government to ensure that the trial is conducted fairly, transparently, and in accordance with international human rights standards.

They argue that peaceful protest and public criticism of the government should not be equated with attempts to overthrow or obstruct an election.

Families of the accused have pleaded for leniency, insisting that their loved ones were only exercising their constitutional right to free speech and civic participation.

Meanwhile, the international community has begun to monitor the proceedings closely, with some foreign missions expressing concern over the possible use of capital punishment in political cases.

Analysts believe that the outcome of this case could have far-reaching implications for freedom of expression, political dissent, and the use of social media in civic engagement.

As the trial continues, many citizens remain divided — some view the accused as defenders of democracy, while others see them as reckless agitators who endangered national peace.

The controversy underscores the growing struggle between government control and citizen activism in an age where information moves faster than political systems can adapt.

For now, the nation watches closely as the court’s decision will not only determine the fate of the accused but also shape the future of free expression and political discourse in the country.

The musician promised to maintain transparency by publishing a detailed financial report on all the funds collected and disbursed. “Tikupasani report ya ndalama zonse zomwe tatolera mawa,” he wrote, meaning “We will provide a full report of all the funds collected tomorrow.” This gesture has been widely praised by followers who see it as a sign of accountability and integrity.

Sir Paul Banda, a founding figure of Malawi’s contemporary music scene and leader of the Alleluya Band, has been battling kidney-related complications and has been undergoing regular dialysis. His condition has inspired a wave of solidarity among Malawian artists and fans alike.

Lulu’s act of kindness has drawn commendation from across the nation, with many describing it as a reminder of the deep sense of community that defines Malawi’s creative industry. His words and actions underscore the message that when artists support one another, they not only preserve their legacy but also strengthen the fabric of humanity.

Through this act, Lulu has not only offered financial help but also reignited a culture of empathy, setting an example for others to follow in caring for those who have shaped Malawi’s musical heritage.

Lilongwe Police has arrested three men for allegedly stealing 14 brand-new plasma screens after one of the suspects broke into an electronics shop at Bwalolanjovu by cutting through the roof at around 2:30 a.m. on November 6, 2025.

Police have since recovered all 14 stolen plasma screens worth K3.5 million.

The suspects have been identified as Edward James, aged 32, John Banda, 26 years old and Harry Zomera, 32 years old.

On Wednesday, at around 10:00 p.m., detectives received a tip-off indicating that a man had broken into a Chinese national’s electronics shop by cutting through the roof at Bwalolanjovu in Area 2.

Swiftly, a squad of detectives from the station rushed to the location and efficiently set up a perimeter around the scene.

While maintaining their vigilant watch, at around 2:30 a.m., detectives observed James emerging stealthily from the top of the shop, transferring the plasma screens one after another to the ground.

Detectives tactically allowed the suspect to lower six of the 14 screens which he had strategically placed in the ceiling, before decisively intervening to apprehend him.

During his arrest, James was discovered with a metal cutter, presumably the tool exploited for the illicit entry.

Shortly thereafter, detectives arrested the two accomplices, Banda and Zomera, near Bata Shop, located in the same Area 2, where it is alleged they were poised to take delivery of the pilfered screens from James after a successful heist.

The suspects are currently in police custody and will appear in court soon to answer charges of breaking and theft.

Edward James hails from Maonde Village, while John Banda comes from Mgandeni Village, both in Traditional Authority (T/A) Kachere, and Harry Zomera is from Magwaza Village, T/A Kaphuka, all in Dedza District.
