The launch of Masauko White’s ‘maize silo’ symbol as an independent hopeful for the Luchenza Constituency has generated excitement among residents.
As a DPP parliamentarian for Thyolo East, White is confident that he will win the September 16 polls, and his campaign promises have resonated with the local community.

White’s pledge to ensure food security and sustain development projects, such as the construction of Mwitere and Zalewa bridges, has been well-received by the residents.
Despite boycotting the DPP primary elections due to alleged irregularities, White maintains that he remains a DPP member.
However, local leaders have highlighted pressing issues that need to be addressed.
Ward councilor Mary Mateyu pointed out that the area faces water challenges and infrastructure issues, including a lack of chairs in classrooms at Malo Primary School.
On his remarks Village Headman Mwarama’s call for peace and co-existence among citizens, regardless of their political affiliations, is a timely reminder of the importance of issue-based campaigns.
