Malawi’s renowned rapper Tay Grin, also known as Nyau King, has been invited to represent the country at the 2025 BET Experience and BET Awards in Los Angeles on July 5,2025.
The prestigious opportunity comes on the heels of his recent win at the Tourism Excellence Awards in the United Kingdom.
As a Malawi Tourism Council(MTC ) Ambassador, Tay Grin will attend the BET Experience, a men’s conference hosted by Nick Cannon, and participate in media interviews to share his music and influence.

Channel A TV, an official BET affiliate, extended the invitation to the ‘Chapapa’ creator in recognition of his efforts to promote African culture globally.
In an interview with local media,Tay Grin expressed pride in representing Malawi and showcasing its rich culture on the international stage.
On his part,Musicians Union of Malawi(MUM ) President Vita Chirwa hailed Tay Grin’s recognition as a significant achievement for Malawi’s music industry.
Minister of Homeland Security Ezekiel Ching’oma has reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to transforming the Police Service into a professional and law-abiding institution that prioritizes the safety and protection of Malawians.
Speaking at the launch of the 2025-2029 Independent Complaints Commission (ICC) Strategic Plan in Lilongwe on Wednesday, Ching’oma emphasized the importance of discipline and professionalism within the Police Service.

The minister highlighted various initiatives being implemented to enhance the skills, capacity, and welfare of police officers, stressing that these efforts are expected to yield a more professional and disciplined Service.

On his part,ICC Commissioner Christopher Tukula noted that the Strategic Plan will enhance the Commission’s service delivery.
UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Challa Getachew emphasized that the plan will accelerate investigations and ensure justice for citizens.
President Dr.Lazarus Chakwera on Wednesday donated K50 million to the Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, to support their participation in the ongoing 2025 Cosafa Cup in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
The gesture follows a meeting between the President and Football Association of Malawi(FAM ) President Fleetwood Haiya.
During the meeting,Chakwera wished the Flames success in their upcoming match against Lesotho.

He also accepted FAM’s invitation to serve as Patron for both the Flames and Scorchers.
In this role, the president will lead national efforts to provide moral, financial, and material support to the teams.

A 27-year-old man, Shadreck Folly, has been arrested by police in Lilongwe for possessing valuable photo studio equipment suspected to have been stolen from a Mzuzu City photo studio.
According to Lilongwe Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Hestings Chigalu,the equipment, worth over K4 million, was stolen from Xian Creative Photo studio in Mzuzu on May 31, 2025.
Folly was arrested at Game Stores Complex in Area 4, Lilongwe, after he approached photographers and offered to sell the equipment. Unbeknownst to him, the photographers had prior information about the burglary incident and had tipped off the police.

Upon interrogation, Folly revealed that he had connived with two on-duty security guards to break into the studio and steal the equipment.
The stolen items include cameras, a printer, reflectors, a portable dressing room, and a Samsung monitor, among others.
Folly, who hails from Kajawa Village in Chiradzulu District, will be sent to Mzuzu to face burglary and theft charges. The police are working to apprehend the two security guards who allegedly collaborated with Folly in the crime.
