Human resource management lecturer and researcher at Catholic University of Malawi (Cunima), Bright Limani,has stressed the need for university students to develop skills and knowledge on handling job interview questions.
Limani made the call on Friday during a CV development and job search seminar organized by CUNIMA in partnership with the Institute for People Management Malawi (IPMM) in Chiradzulu.

He said lacking interview skills can hinder students’ job prospects.
“Their interview success depends on how they answer the questions,” said Limani.
The seminar also equipped students with effective job search strategies and techniques to enhance their employability.
Two of the participants , Chisomo Layero and Father Kukumbira, praised the seminar, describing it as an eye-opener that provided valuable insights into the job market.
Political scientist Ernest Thindwa has called on youths in the country to take a more active role in politics.
Speaking at a town hall meeting at Soche Technical College on Friday, Thindwa highlighted the need for youth to build networks and push for more involvement in decision-making processes.

He noted that despite making up the majority of the population, youth remain underrepresented in politics.
Thindwa said for instance,in 2019, only one young MP was elected on a party ticket.
On his part,Chimwemwe Kaonga of the Centre for Governance and Leadership advised aspiring youth leaders to seek mentors and build community influence.
The meeting was organized under the UNDP-funded Malawi Electoral Support Project, which aims to promote inclusive and credible elections.
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) on Saturday unveiled Gift Nankhuni as Lilongwe City Centre aspirant Member of Parliament (MP) at a mega development rally held at Chatata ground.
Secretary General for MCP Richard Chimwendo Banda during the mega rally assured people of Chatata in the area of of Traditional Authority Chitukula in Lilongwe continued development projects including the social cash transfer program which they are already benefiting.

Chimwendo-Banda lamented that people in the area needs a lot of developments activities to be completed and the only way to succeed is through Gift Nankhuni as the Member of Parliament during the forth coming September 16 general elections.
“Nankhuni will continue where Honorable Alfred Jiya left and also supporting Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in developing Lilongwe, we also assure people here that President Chakwera will always support them in time of need and in difficult situation,” he said.
Chimwendo was also quick to react on the issue of dry spell which has hit the area as T/A Chatata on behalf of T/A Chitukula worried about the hunger situation in their area and the Secretary General said government has already made plans to distribute maize in this lean season as people are in urgent need of direct support in form of food including areas of Chatata, Kauma, Mbwetu and the sorrounding areas.
“We are also preaching against violence, there are times we speak against violence and people sometimes think that we are just saying this on our podiums but we are also serious as government as we say that this country we have to move in unity, we need to make sure there is peace, all political parties in the country have to maintain peace as for us in the Malawi Congress Party we promote peace among all members,” he added.
Shadow Member of Parliament for the area, Gift Nankhuni has since pledged to continue doing what he has always been doing. He said his first task will be to build a rural hospital in Chatata.
During the rally, Senior Group Chatata commended the President for all the development projects taking place in the area.
Chatata gave an example of Security houses which the President has constructed in his area.

According to Mrs. Phillips Deputy Head of St Andrews International Primary School, the decision to expand the cultural fare to a global scale was deliberate.
“We felt it was fitting to take our cultural celebration to the next level, showcasing the diversity that exists within our school community and beyond,” she said in an interview with this publication. “By embracing global cultures, we hope to foster greater understanding, tolerance, and appreciation among our students and the wider community.”
One of the participants, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed her excitement about the event, saying, “It was a very good event that will stay forever. People from all walks came and witnessed and showcased their culture.I loved seeing the different traditional dresses and hearing the various languages spoken.”
The event featured a range of cultural performances, including traditional dances, music, and storytelling. Students and parents alike took to the stage to showcase their cultural heritage, captivating the audience with their energy, passion, and pride.
The event also provided an opportunity for attendees to engage with different cultures, ask questions, and learn about customs and traditions from around the world.

Secretary for Higher Education, Dr. Levis Eneya, has called on higher education institutions and graduates to actively participate in implementing the Malawi 2063 national development agenda.
Speaking at the DMI-St. John the Baptist University graduation ceremony on Friday, Dr. Eneya emphasized the importance of collective efforts in transforming Malawi into an upper-middle-income economy by 2063.

He commended DMI St. John the Baptist University for its commitment to quality education, highlighting its accredited programs, infrastructure development, and initiatives to support disadvantaged students.

He urged institutions to adhere to standards set by the National Council for Higher Education and assured that the Ministry would conduct regular audits to maintain high standards.
