Ujamaa Pamodzi Africa Launches Training Support Officers Induction Program

Ujamaa Pamodzi Africa has kicked off a six-day Training Support Officers (TSOs) Induction training in partnership with Ujamaa Africa (Kenya). The program, which started on January 22, 2025, aims to equip new TSOs with the necessary skills and knowledge to support Ujamaa ETT Champion teachers in their respective districts. The induction training is being held at Ujamaa Pamodzi Africa’s headquarters in Area 47, Lilongwe, Malawi.

The program will introduce participants to the organization’s ETT intervention, operational framework, policies, quality control, administrative procedures, logistics, vision, and mission. This comprehensive training will enable TSOs to effectively monitor, mentor, coach, train, and support Champion teachers. The ultimate goal is to enhance the education sector in Malawi by providing high-quality support to teachers.



The induction training was officially opened by Shanever Chamba, Child Protection Desk Officer from the Ministry of Education, alongside Martin Ndirangu, Ujamaa Pamodzi Africa’s Country Director, and Simpiri, the CSO Director from Ujamaa Nairobi. This collaborative effort demonstrates Ujamaa Pamodzi Africa’s commitment to empowering its TSOs and, in turn, benefiting the education sector in Malawi.

By investing in the capacity of its TSOs, Ujamaa Pamodzi Africa is taking a significant step towards achieving its mission of preventing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Africa.The organization’s evidence-based approach has been recognized as effective by international research institutes, and this training program is a testament to its ongoing efforts to create safer and more equitable communities.

Civo says Duwe, Manda not for sale

Civils Service United have insisted that their players, midfielder Festus Duwe and defender Masiya Manda are not for sale.

The Team’s General Secretary Edgar Chipalanjira says the two players will remain with the Civil Servants as they want to build a strong squad for next super league season.

TNM Super League Champions Silver Strikers are looking for the services of Duwe while Blantyre giants, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are fighting for Masiya Manda’s signature.

The two players played a crucial as Civil finished fifth in the 2024 TNM Super League and reached quarterfinals for Airtel Top 8, Castel Challenge as well as FDH Cup.

Machinjiri Football Academy Set to Kick Off This Saturday

Excitement is building in Blantyre as Machinjiri Football Academy prepares to launch this coming Saturday at Nthawira Palish Ground.

The academy’s head of finance and administration, Isaac Njiwa, shared his vision and goals for the academy in an interview with 247malawi News,Emphasized his passion for giving back to the community that raised him. “I grew up in Machinjiri and there is just too much potential and talent. Even though I never played football to the highest level, I had friends who did, and this is my way of paying back to the community.”

The academy’s primary objective is to develop young footballers from the grassroots level, aligning with the Football Association of Malawi’s (FAM) vision. “We share the same ideas with FAM, where football needs to start from a grassroots level,” Njiwa explained.

Currently, the academy has teams for under 10, 14 and 17 age groups, with plans to introduce an under 21 team soon. While the academy has not yet secured any major partnerships, Njiwa expressed optimism that organizations and companies will come forward to support their vision.

The community, family, friends, and local businesses have already shown support for the academy. As Machinjiri Football Academy prepares to kick off, Njiwa’s message is clear: “We are here to stay, and we want to position ourselves in a space where we are ready to serve and take football to the next level.”

Journalist Noel Mkubwi to contest as Member of Parliament in Kasungu

Barely a day after musician and Film Producer Kendall Kamwendo announced his interest to contest as Member of Parliament, renowned journalist Noel Mkubwi has also revealed that he will contest as Member of Parliament for Kasungu Municipality.

Mkubwi who works for Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) will contest as an Independent candidate.
