The Parliament of Malawi on Wednesday afternoon elected Member of Parliament(MP ) for Blantyre Misesa Constituency,Sameer Suleman,as the new Speaker of the National Assembly.
Suleman secured 134 votes, defeating, MP for Lilongwe Peter Dimba,who garnered 85 votes.

In the other parliamentary leadership elections,MP for Mulanje Bale Constituency,Victor Musowa,was elected as First Deputy Speaker,while MP for Machinga East Constituency, Esther Jolobala emerged as Second Deputy Speaker.
The elections followed the successful swearing-in of all 222 MPs on Monday and Tuesday, marking the formal commencement of duties for lawmakers elected in the September 16, 2025 General Election.
Meanwhile, President Peter Mutharika is expected to officially open the First Meeting of the 52nd Session of Parliament on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
The ceremony will set the stage for the new administration’s legislative agenda.
Renowned gospel musician from Dedza, Peter Nsauka, has announced the release of his new single “Zonsezi” this Friday, October 31, 2025 a track he describes as deeply spiritual and filled with messages meant to touch every soul, young and old alike.
Nsauka, who has steadily built a loyal following through his uplifting and thought-provoking songs, said his journey in music has been a mix of challenges and triumphs, but the support from his fans has kept him going.

According to Nsauka, “Zonsezi” is more than just a song it’s a message of hope, faith, and unity. He said the song urges listeners to reflect on the blessings of life and to remain strong in the face of hardships.
“My goal has always been to educate and inspire through music.This new song continues in that direction. It reminds us that no matter what we go through, everything happens for a reason ‘zonsezi’ have a purpose,”he explained.
The artist further revealed that he is working on producing more music videos to reach wider audiences within Malawi and beyond. He believes visuals play a vital role in conveying the emotional depth and meaning behind his songs.
Nsauka emphasized that gospel music is not just entertainment for him, but a calling. Through his work, he hopes to spread messages of love, peace, and perseverance to communities across the country.
Fans have already begun expressing excitement on social media, anticipating the release of “Zonsezi”. Many say Nsauka’s consistency and humility have made him one of Dedza’s most respected artists.
With “Zonsezi”, Nsauka aims to strengthen his footprint in Malawi’s gospel music scene proving that even from Dedza, one can create art that inspires hearts far and wide.
The single will be available on major streaming platforms and local radio stations starting Friday.
Minister of Finance Hon Joseph Mathyola Mwanamveka says his Ministry has secured USD80 Million which is K150Billion to support procurement and logistics for lean period maize.
Speaking in an exclusive interview Mwanamveka says Government and the people of Malawi are grateful for the timely assistance which will help to feed hungry people.
According to the minister some of the donors who have helped include United States of America (USD) USD17.5Million, Norway USD4.5Million, British Government USD 5.3Million while Japan has given Malawi USD3.7million.

Other donors who have assisted include Republic of Ireland and Switzerland. Out of the USD80Million funding, World Bank gave Malawi USD45Million.
“We are so grateful considering that His Excellency State President Professor Arther Peter Mutharika declared national disaster for the 28 hunger striken districts which include , Thyolo, Neno, Salima , Mulanje , Lilongwe , Chiladzulu , Karonga, Chikwawa, Phalombe, Zomba just to mention but afew,” he said.
According to Intergrated Food Insecurity Report further states that during this period, a number of people affected are estimated at 4 million which is 22 percent of the analysed population which will require approximately 187,000 Metric tonnes of food.
Popular musician Twin-M has expressed deep disappointment after discovering that some of his friends allegedly used his social media page to post offensive messages without his consent.
In a candid post,Twin-M addressed the situation directly:
“If they want to ruin me, why would they involve friends I trust in posting offensive content on my page? People need to understand that these actions are not from me,”he explained.
He continued to explain that despite being calm and patient, the misuse of his page has deeply hurt him:

The artist also called on his fans and followers to be aware of the incident:
“Please, friends, spread the word to anyone who saw the post on my page I did not create it. I am truly disappointed that friends I trusted would behave this way. From now on, I no longer have access to my page because of their interference.”

A finance expert and senior lecturer in accounting and finance at Millennium University, Richard Tembo commenting on the matter, stressed Select Finance Services’ call on the importance of collaboration between the government and microfinance institutions.
“The government provides policy direction and ensures financial stability, while microfinance institutions turn those policies into real financial access for people. Working together ensures support mechanisms like consumer protection, financial literacy programs, and responsible lending standards are well aligned.”
“During economic turbulence, timely access to small loans allows households to manage shocks, maintain consumption, and invest in small ventures. That’s where institutions like Select come in handy,” said Tembo.
