Organisers of the Beauty Fun Fair Event have announced that all preparations are complete ahead of the two-day festival set for 1st and 2nd November 2025 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

The event promises to bring together beauty enthusiasts, entrepreneurs and industry professionals from across the country.

Speaking to journalists, the event’s Head of Communication, Fatsani Chimvumbi, said the Beauty Fun Fair will serve as a dynamic platform for young people to learn, network and explore opportunities within the beauty and fashion industry.

She said the event will go beyond showcasing beauty products, describing it as a life-changing experience designed to inspire the youth to turn their passion into profitable ventures.

“This fair is not only about glamour it’s about empowerment, education, and entrepreneurship,” Chimvumbi emphasized.

Chimvumbi revealed that the event will feature a series of activities, including live demonstrations, makeup tutorials, hairstyling competitions and fashion showcases by both established and upcoming designers. The aim, she said, is to expose participants to the latest trends and techniques in the beauty industry.

To recognize excellence, organisers have also introduced Beauty Industry Awards that will celebrate individuals and businesses making a positive impact in the sector.

“We want to appreciate those who are raising the bar and contributing to the growth of Malawi’s beauty ecosystem,” added Chimvumbi.

The awards will cover categories such as Best Makeup Artist, Best Hair Stylist, Best Beauty Brand and Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Winners will receive trophies and promotional opportunities to expand their businesses.

According to Chimvumbi, the event is expected to attract over 1,000 youth from various districts across Malawi. She said the response so far has been overwhelming
with many young people showing great interest in attending and participating.

She also noted that several corporate partners and beauty brands have come on board to sponsor the event, seeing it as an opportunity to support youth empowerment and innovation. Exhibitors will have the chance to market their products and connect directly with potential clients.

The organisers believe the Beauty Fun Fair will not only promote creativity and self-expression but also play a role in reducing youth unemployment by encouraging entrepreneurship.

“We want young people to realize that beauty can be business,” Chimvumbi stressed.

“This initiative aims to ensure that our brave men and women who served this nation live in dignity. We must remember that our freedom and peace came at the cost of their courage and sacrifice,” said Mutharika.

The  president called on Malawians to use Poppy Week as a time for reflection and generosity toward those who served.

“The Poppy Appeal is not just a symbol of remembrance,it is an opportunity for all Malawians to support the welfare of our veterans and the families of fallen heroes,” he said.

As part of his support, Mutharika donated K5 million to assist veteran soldiers through the Veterans and Ex-Service League of Malawi.

In his remarks, the League’s Chairperson, General Henry Odillo (Retired), hailed Mutharika for his consistent advocacy for the welfare of retired soldiers and the families of those who died in service.

Odillo noted that many veterans still struggle with poor housing and limited access to healthcare.

He said this year’s Poppy Week aims to raise over K300 million through nationwide fundraising activities to improve the lives of veterans and their dependents.

“The challenges are many, but with continued support from the government and the public, we can ensure that no veteran is left behind,” Odillo said.

The second VP noted that meaningful development can only be achieved when citizens understand and contribute to decisions and policies that shape their lives.

“For our nation to move forward, leaders must communicate clearly and truthfully, while citizens must take the initiative to seek clarification whenever information is unclear,” said Chihana.

He further observed that some community challenges persist because people often remain silent instead of questioning or seeking explanations about government actions.

Chihana reaffirmed government’s commitment to working closely with citizens and stakeholders in advancing national development, adding that unity and accountability are essential for Malawi’s progress.

During the meeting, business representatives emphasized the importance of open communication and mutual trust between the government and the private sector, saying transparency builds confidence and fosters effective partnerships for economic growth and social development.
