The ‘Dolo Kwambiri Amavotera Chakwera’ music challenge has garnered an impressive response, with over 220 song submissions from artists across various genres.
According to the organisers,the judging process for the music challenge starts today in Lilongwe, where a panel of esteemed judges will carefully select 15 songs to proceed to the next round.

The judging panel comprises notable music industry professionals, including musician Graiton GD Pasanje of the Dare Devils music group, music producer Tapps Bandawe, and Sophie Mponda.
With five categories and only three songs advancing from each, the competition is expected to be fierce.
The ‘Dolo Kwambiri Amavotera Chakwera’, promises a lucrative prize of K5 million each for the five winners.
The competition was introduced by Minister of Labour Vitumbiko Mumba during last year’s youth concert at CIVO Stadium in Lilongwe.
The Malawi National Netball Team, the Queens, arrived home on Wednesday at Chileka International Airport from United Kingdom where they participated in the 2025 Vitality Nations Cup.
During their campaign, the Queens played eight games, securing two victories,a notable improvement from their previous outing, where they failed to register a single win against the world’s top-ranked teams.
Speaking to journalists ,Co-coach Peace Chawinga reflected on the team’s experience, highlighting the valuable exposure to new rules and technical skills introduced during the Quad Series.

“The competition provided us with an opportunity to learn and grow, and we are eager to build on this experience,” she said.
Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) President Vitumbiko Gubuduza echoed Chawinga’s sentiments, describing the tournament as a crucial stepping stone in the team’s rebuilding process.
“We are committed to nurturing and developing our talent, and this experience will be invaluable in our journey forward,” she said.
In a show of support for the team, NICO Holdings Corporate Affairs Manager Mbumba Mlia-Ndasauka announced plans to launch the Nico Top 12 Netball Tournament, aimed at scouting and nurturing talent for the national team.
“We are excited to partner with NAM in identifying and developing the next generation of netball stars,” she said.
In a surprise move, the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS ) has reversed its earlier decision to block the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) from hiring former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Kallisto Pasuwa as the new Flames coach.
The u-turn comes after the Ministry of Youth and Sports intervened in the matter on Tuesday.

The council has since given FAM the green light to proceed with the appointment process.
FAM’s executive committee had resolved to hire Pasuwa on a two-year deal.
However, MNCS had initially rejected the move, citing that FAM had not followed the proper recruitment procedures.
The council had argued that since the government would be contributing to the coach’s perks, FAM needed to follow the normal recruitment process.
Care Malawi on Wednesday made a significant contribution to supporting flood survivors in Mangochi District by donating essential Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) items worth K5 million.
The donation, which includes chlorine powder, H2S strips, and bars of soap, aims to promote hygiene and prevent the spread of diseases in the camps.
Speaking in an interview with journalists,Project Manager at Care Malawi,Chimwemwe Gremu emphasized the importance of supporting the survivors, stating that the floods have compromised sanitation in the camps.
“These WASH items are a direct response to the floods that have affected the district,” he said.
In his remarks, Environmental Health Officer at Mangochi District Health Office, Chimwemwe Jella described the donation as timely and significant.
“The items will bring about much-needed change in the camps,” said Jella.
He encouraged others to emulate Care Malawi’s gesture.
The donation was made possible through funding from the European Union Humanitarian Aid, under the Echo Project, which is being implemented by various partners, including Save the Children, Youth Net and Counselling, and Self Help Africa.
President Dr.Lazarus Chakwera and First Lady Monica Chakwera on Wednesday evening graced the official launch of the Saulos Klaus Chilima (SKC) Foundation at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
The foundation establishment is in honour of the former Vice President, who died on June 10,2024.

It is committed to supporting and uplifting the less privileged in Malawi.
Through various initiatives and projects, the foundation seeks to address crucial issues such as education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and social welfare, ensuring that underserved communities have access to opportunities for a better life.
In her remarks, wife to the late Chilima,Mary,emphasised that the foundation is a symbol of excellence, honouring the legacy of a leader who had the people’s best interests at heart.
“He was a man devoted to his faith, always serving the nation with all his heart, and deeply compassionate towards those in need,” she said.
She added that if he were still around, Chilima would have wanted his name and life to be celebrated through helping others.
On his part,chairperson of the foundation organising committee, Boyd Luwe urged individuals to refrain from politicising the foundation.
He stressed that those who attempt to do so should be heavily condemned.
Luwe described the late Chilima as remarkable and deserving of celebration, highlighting how he was a beacon of excellence in helping those in need.
He then thanked the people for their overwhelming support and expressed his belief that the foundation is a gift to the nation.

He said the foundation will survive the test of time as it has been established on values of love, transparency and true compassion to help those in need.
The launch coincided with what would have been Chilima’s 52nd birthday.
