Chimwendo-Banda urged the audience to support Chakwera’s re-election in September 2025, stating that his leadership is essential for Malawi’s continued progress.

In an attempt to restore hope to the body of Christ, Fountain of Victory Church International has organised a crossover service scheduled for December 31.

The cross over will be observed under the theme: ‘Night of Hope and Destiny.’ It will start from 8pm at Victory Land behind MBC TV offices in Blantyre.

In interview on Friday, founder of Fountain of Victory, Apostle Joseph Ziba, said that the crossover service has been organised and titled “Night of Hope and Destiny” because it is an event which will be held at the end of the year with the aim of restoring hope to the church and also ushering people into a new year.

Ziba

“The year in which we are in has affected many people in the country and people have lost hope with the economic crisis as well as with the year which is coming, this event will bring hope to them that God has special plans for us in 2025.

“We’re bringing all people together to tell them what God has said about 2025, tell them their responsibility and how they should carry themselves as we are in this season,” he said.

Ziba added that it is important for believers to enter the new year while in the presence of God rather than embracing it through drinking and doing other immoral things.

He particularly encouraged all people to attend and enter the new year in the presence of God.
“Other people think that crossing over is about drinking and doing all other things, but as believers, we know the meaning of coming together and entering the new year in the presence of God,” Ziba said.

“I would urge each and every one if they could understand what the presence of God could do to them, you can come before him with a burden or depressed but you don’t go out the same,” he added.

In a separate interview, Kalem Emmanuel, a member of God’s Will Church International, said that crossover services provide an opportunity for people to know and hear what God is saying about the coming year and how they should prepare.

“Services like these allow us to hear the mind of God through the man of God concerning all aspects of life, they also enable us to reflect on the areas we have done well and those we didn’t do well; thereby, giving us a chance to prepare on how we are going to prosper in the new year which is 2025, in this case,” he said.

The crossover services will be done in all Fountain of Victory Churches around the globe and activities such as 2024 mega thanksgiving praise, testimonies, saturated worship and prophetic messages and prayers, among others, are what will keep the services energised.

In a heartwarming display of generosity and solidarity, the Phalombe Secondary School alumni association has launched a successful initiative to support needy students at their former school. The initiative, which kicked off with the payment of exam fees for students sitting for the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) exams, has brought hope and relief to many students who were struggling to make ends meet.

According to Booker Matemvu, the chairperson of the alumni association, the initiative was inspired by the desire to give back to their alma mater and make a positive impact on the lives of current students. “We are thrilled to see our fellow alumni coming together in large numbers to support this worthy cause,” Matemvu said in an interview. “We believe that education is the key to unlocking the potential of our young people, and we are committed to doing our part to ensure that every student at Phalombe Secondary School has access to the resources they need to succeed.”

The payment of exam fees was just the first phase of the initiative.

The alumni association has also purchased mattresses, which will be handed over to the school in January. This donation is expected to improve the living conditions of students in the school’s dormitories, many of whom have been struggling with inadequate bedding and other essential supplies.

The initiative has been hailed as a shining example of the power of community and the impact that individuals can have when they come together to support a common cause. “We are grateful to the alumni association for their generosity and commitment to our students,” said the headmaster of Phalombe Secondary School. “Their support has made a huge difference in the lives of our students, and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.”

For many of the students who benefited from the initiative, the payment of exam fees was a lifeline that enabled them to sit for their exams without worrying about how they would afford the fees. “I was struggling to raise the money to pay for my exam fees, and I was worried that I would not be able to sit for my exams,” said one student, who wished to remain anonymous. “But thanks to the alumni association, I was able to pay my fees and sit for my exams without any worries. I am so grateful to them for their support.”

The initiative has also inspired other alumni to come forward and support their former school. “I was motivated to get involved in the initiative because I saw the positive impact that it was having on the lives of our students,” said another alumnus, who donated money to support the purchase of mattresses. “I believe that it is our responsibility as alumni to give back to our alma mater and support the next generation of students.”

As the Phalombe Secondary School alumni association looks to the future, they are planning to expand their initiative to include other forms of support, such as scholarships and mentorship programs. “We are committed to continuing to support our alma mater and make a positive impact on the lives of our students,” Matemvu said. “We believe that together, we can make a difference and help to shape the future of our young people.”

In conclusion, the Phalombe Secondary School alumni association’s initiative to support needy students at their former school is a shining example of the power of community and the impact that individuals can have when they come together to support a common cause. Their generosity and commitment to giving back to their alma mater are an inspiration to us all, and a reminder of the importance of supporting the next generation of leaders and change-makers.

Secretary General of the 14th registered political party in Malawi- Muvi wa Chilungamo Greyson Mikuwa, has thanked the office of the Mayor and Chief Executive Officer of Blantyre City Council for responding to his concern which he asked for the immediate action on the traffic robots which were broken at Nandos in the City.

For months, traffic robots at Nandos have been functioning properly with all colors available directing motorists and pedestrians what to do on the road but the direction they were pointing was not for motorists and other road users to see properly.

Greyson Mikuwa-The robots are now in place, thanks Blantyre City Council for listening.

Many people have been wondering what Blantyre City Council was doing failing to fix the broken traffic robots as if it will require millions of Kwachas for maintenances with the officials passing Nandos without noticing that the robots were broken.

There have been accidents at Nandos involving motorists and pedestrians caused by the broken traffic robots and Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Secretary General Greyson Mikuwa took the matter to the media for Blantyre City Council officials to immediately take action on the robots.

Mikuwa appealed to Blantyre City Council authorities to reserve some resources which will go a long way for maintenances of various services the council is providing in the City and surrounding areas for public use.

He warned the Blantyre City Council authorities that their failure to take immediate action on the traffic robots which were broken at Nandos will force him to condemn them in strongest terms possible for negligence of duty.

“I am appreciating for the good work done at Nandos traffic robots, the area is not prone to accidents as used before, thanks must go to the office of the Mayor for responding to my concern,” said Mikuwa.

He said the broken traffic robots at Nandos were maintained a few days after raising an alarm in the media saying the robots are now in place expressing his vote of thanks to the Mayor and management of Blantyre City Council for taking an immediate action.

Mikuwa has appealed to residents of Blantyre City to take the City as their own and everyone to have a duty of holding office bearers accountable for maintenances of the services the council is providing in for public use.

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has intensified its efforts to mobilize support in the Northern Region, with Vice President for the North, Jappie Mhango, calling on people in Chitipa to register in large numbers for the forthcoming supplementary voter registration exercise. This exercise, sanctioned by the High Court, will run from January 10 to February 3, 2025, in preparation for the September 2025 general elections.

Addressing a political rally at Chitipa boma, Mhango emphasized the importance of voting as the only means to remove the current MCP government from power. He urged the crowd to register and cast their votes in the upcoming elections, stressing that this is the only way to bring about change.

DPP’s Northern Region Governor, Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, also spoke at the rally, highlighting the poor governance and rising cost of living under the MCP government as reasons why people should vote for the DPP. Ngwira’s remarks resonated with the crowd, many of whom expressed frustration with the current state of affairs.

This rally marked the first time the DPP has held a political event in Chitipa district since being ousted from government in 2020. The party’s renewed efforts to mobilize support in the region are seen as a strategic move to reclaim lost ground and build momentum ahead of the 2025 elections.

The DPP’s message of change and development resonated with the crowd, many of whom expressed enthusiasm for the party’s vision. As the party continues to rally support across the country, it remains to be seen whether their efforts will yield the desired results.

The supplementary voter registration exercise is a critical step in the lead-up to the 2025 elections, and the DPP’s efforts to mobilize support in Chitipa are seen as a key part of their strategy. With the elections just around the corner, the party is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to regain power.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, one thing is clear: the 2025 elections will be a pivotal moment in Malawi’s history. The DPP’s efforts to mobilize support in Chitipa are just the beginning of what promises to be a intense and closely contested electoral campaign.

In related news, the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has announced that the supplementary voter registration exercise will take place from January 10 to February 3, 2025. The exercise is expected to capture new voters who have turned 18 since the last registration exercise, as well as those who have not previously registered.

The MEC has urged all eligible voters to take advantage of the exercise and register to vote. The commission has also assured the public that the exercise will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner, with adequate measures in place to prevent fraud and ensure the integrity of the process.

As the country prepares for the 2025 elections, the DPP’s efforts to mobilize support in Chitipa are seen as a key part of their strategy. With the elections just around the corner, the party is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to regain power.
