Zikhale in a rallying call for people to register to vote

MCP senior member, the Campaign Marshall who is also the Minister of Homeland Security Dr Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has hit the ground,emulating the works of President Chakwera by rallying people in Nkhatabay district to go and register to vote

Zikhale who is also the member of parliament for Nkhata-bay South constituency  was on Thursday at Kapeska area where he delivered one key message “Go and register to Vote” . He assured the people in the area that in order for them to continue to enjoy the developments that are taking place in the area, they need to register so that they could be able to vote for Dr Lazarus Chakwera.

Ng’oma  has been visiting people in remote areas with an aim of ensuring that voter registration messages reach all parts of his constituency.

Accompanied by Senior Chief Fukamapiri,T/A Zilakoma and T/A Malengamzoma he also visited Kamwala  in his constituency

Zikhale ,known for his hardworking spirit has also scheduled some more whistle stops to engage with the locals and rally them to register to vote

On Friday, Nyamazikuluzikulu will be in Nkhatabay Central covering areas like Bwerero,Lisale, Kachenga, Mlombwa and Chilambwe before finalising with a mega Rally at Mumba.

On Saturday ,Zikhale will be in Nkhatabay North where he will make stops  at Bula, Kaulasisi, Chigwere, Chipunga and Chilima

He will then hold a Mega rally at Chikwina Trading Centre where other speakers like Manda Chiume, Ralph Mhone , MCP Shadow MPs will be present.

There will be performances by Phungu Joseph Nkasa, Gibo Pearson and tradition dances such as Chisamba

Malawi Honors New Educators at Milestone Graduation of Domasi College of Education

Domasi College of Education (DCE) celebrated a pivotal moment in Malawi’s educational landscape today with its 27th graduation ceremony, honoring 498 new teachers ready to make a difference in the country’s classrooms.

Attended by government officials, educational stakeholders, and proud family members, the ceremony underscored the vital role of education in addressing Malawi’s significant educational challenges. The Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Nancy Chaola Mdooko, was the guest of honor, delivering an inspiring speech on behalf of Honourable Minister of Education, Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima.



In her address, Hon. Mdooko highlighted the transformative power of teachers and urged the graduates to fully embrace their new responsibilities. “We are here to celebrate your achievements and welcome you into the noble profession of teaching,” she remarked. She encouraged the graduates to commit to lifelong learning and dedication in their teaching careers.

The Deputy Minister further outlined the government’s long-term vision for education encapsulated in the Malawi 2063 agenda, which aims to create an inclusive, wealthy, and self-reliant nation. She noted, “Currently, only 16% of secondary school-age children are enrolled in secondary education,” stressing the urgent need to enhance both access to and quality of education in the country.

Malawi is working to significantly increase its number of secondary school teachers from 13,673 to over 50,000 by 2030, with a focus on expanding the supply of educators in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. “We must collaborate to ensure that more of our youth can access quality education and acquire the skills needed for future employment,” she concluded.

Hon. Mdooko also extended her gratitude to development partners, particularly the Japanese government and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), for their vital support in enhancing DCE’s infrastructure. “We are immensely grateful for their commitment to improving education in Malawi,” she expressed, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in driving educational progress.

Hilltop Academy Spreads Love and Kindness on World Kindness Day

Hilltop Academy joined the global community in commemorating World Kindness Day on November 13, with a heartwarming display of generosity and compassion.

The school’s administration emphasized the significance of the day to students, highlighting the importance of kindness in creating a harmonious and supportive community.



“Our students were enthusiastic about participating in World Kindness Day,” said Hilltop Academy’s Administrator Mahomed Hakter.  “We encouraged them to show kindness to their peers through small acts of generosity.”

Students took the initiative to buy doughnuts at their own expense and share them with friends, demonstrating the true spirit of kindness.

“I bought doughnuts for my friends because I wanted to make them smile,” said  an Year 8 student, Habiba Mughees “It’s a small act, but it makes a big difference.”

Parents and guardians also supported the initiative, donating funds to purchase additional doughnuts for students.

“We’re grateful for the support from parents and guardians,” Mahomed said. “Their contributions helped make this day even more special.”

Throughout the day, students engaged in various acts of kindness, from helping their peers with homework to offering words of encouragement.

“Kindness is contagious,” said year 7  student, Tupali Washali. “When someone shows me kindness, it inspires me to do the same for others.”

Hilltop Academy’s World Kindness Day celebration served as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can have a profound impact.

“Kindness breaks down barriers and fosters a sense of community,” Hakter said. “We’re proud of our students for embracing this values.”

The school plans to continue promoting kindness throughout the year, incorporating it into their curriculum and extracurricular activities.

“I learned that kindness doesn’t have to be expensive,” said year 5 student, who didn’t want to be named. “A simple smile or kind word can make someone’s day.”

“World Kindness Day reminded me to appreciate the people around me,” said an year  7 student, Suzana Fatchi. “I’ll strive to be kind every day, not just on special occasions.”

“We’re thrilled to see our children embracing kindness,”  Miss Esther said. “Hilltop Academy’s initiative has inspired us to promote kindness at home,”She concluded.

As Hilltop Academy continues to spread love and kindness, they serve as a shining example for other schools and communities.

“Kindness has the power to transform lives,” Miss Theo concluded. “We’re committed to nurturing a culture of kindness that extends beyond our school walls.”

With their World Kindness Day celebration, Hilltop Academy has set a remarkable example for others to follow, demonstrating that kindness can be a powerful catalyst for positive change.

Mutharika’s lines up activities  in the week ahead: DPP Events and Fundraising in Blantyre

Former President of Malawi and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, along with former First Lady Gertrude Mutharika, are set to attend several key events in Blantyre this week.

According to Presidential Spokesperson and DPP National Publicity Secretary, Shadrick Namalomba, the couple’s schedule reflects their commitment to the party and its development.

On Friday, November 15th, Professor Mutharika will lead the DPP NGC members orientation workshop at Lotus Hotel, commencing at 9:00 a.m.



This workshop aims to equip party members with the necessary knowledge and skills to drive the party’s agenda forward.

As the main opposition party in Malawi, the DPP continues to play a vital role in shaping the country’s political landscape.

The following evening, Saturday, November 16th, the Golden Peacock Hotel will host the DPP fundraising dinner.

This event is crucial in mobilizing resources to support the party’s activities and initiatives.

Misozi Chanthunya’s appeal dismissed by African court

African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR) in Arusha, Tanzania,on Wednesday morning dismissed a case filed by Misozi Chanthunya who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2020 for murdering his Zimbabwean girl friend Linda Gasa,whose body was found buried under cement concrete at a cottage in Mangochi.

In his application to the AfCHPR, Chanthunya argued that the State had violated his right to a fair trial as protected under Article 7(1) of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

However, in its ruling, the court concluded that the trial was fair, according to state lawyer Neverson Chisiza.

“Chanthunya’s application has been dismissed. The court has found that the Respondent State, Malawi, did not violate his right to a fair trial,” Chisiza said told Nation Online in a Whatsap response.

Gasa was murdered in 2010.
