Where to next for Yamikani Chester

All eyes will be on Malawian-Mozambique based attacker Yamikani Chester as he plans to announce his next move.

The development follows Chesters’ two year contract coming to an end with Costa do Sol.

Chester and Costa do Sol have not renewed their agreement and according the attacker he will be joining another team.

Posting on his Facebook page, Chester thanked Costa do Sol for the two years at the club.

“Two years feels like yesterday, Its time to say good bye with a happy face, I would like to thank Costa do sol for the great opportunity! its hard to play away from home but I have always enjoyed my stay with the team I will miss the bond I had with my team-mates, I wish you well team.

“I will announce my next move soon. Thank you Malawians for the support ku team inayi ndikufunaniso ndithu,” he writes.

Chester left for Costa do Sol after the expiry of his contract with Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

Nomads fans have called on the attacker to return to the club.

Chesters’ profile picture updated on 3rd June 2023, shows he still has love for the Lali Lubani boys as he holds the 2022 Airtel Top 8 trophy.

Black Nina signs himself

When American Hip Hop artist and movie star Ludacris said “sign yourself to yourself and start writing your own checks,” one Malawian was paying attention.

Musician Black Nina has announced the formation of his own record label Khezeni Movement.

The announcement came to mixed reaction as Black Nina is now Chief Executive Officer and the first artist signed to the record label

The statement from the stable reads: “From now on, all my projects and other related activities will be released and implemented under Khezeni Movement.

“I am so grateful for the support from all my fans, and i am counting on your continued support as i take this exciting new step in my music career.

“As an artist and CEO of Khezeni Movement, I am committed to creating music that inspires all manner of people, and touch their lives in ways that go beyond music.

“The coming of Khezeni Movement has given me more energy, therefore I am all set to release NEW PROJECTS!”

Black Nina last release was the visual for the song ‘Halo’ and is planning on putting out new music under newly established label.

The prospective song is yet to be revealed and release date yet to be announced.

Bullets’ Chikumbutso Salima wins player of the month award

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets player Chikumbutso Salima has won the Hubertus Clausius Player of the Month award for the month of November.

Salima won the award after receiving 40 percent of the votes from supporters beating Yamikani Mologeni, Yankho Singo and Babatunde Adepoju.

The youthful midfielder was key in Bullets’ 1-0 win against Silver Strikers in the Airtel Top 8 final played in the month of November.

Hubertus Clausius entered an agreement with Bullets to be sponsoring the player of the month award to the tune of K300,000 every month.

MASM hikes monthly contributions for members

The Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) has announced that it will be increasing monthly contribution rates for its members, starting from January 1, 2025.

In a circular to the society’s members, MASM Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ulemu Katunga says the decision has been arrived at due to the current economic challenges and to ensure the sustainability of the society.



Katunga explains that the board has approved a revision of the monthly contribution rates by 14% for the EconoPlan scheme, 12.5% for the Executive scheme, and 12% for the VIP scheme

He says the board is aware that the increase may cause pressure on its members and impact their expectations from service providers.

Says Katunga in a circular:”The board is committed to continuously monitoring and reviewing the society’s operations to ensure that members have access to the medical care they need while maintaining sustainability.”

Beit-CURE Children’s Hospital of Malawi hosts event to promote inclusiveness for people with disabilities

Beit-CURE Children’s Hospital of Malawi on Tuesday organized an event to commemorate the importance of inclusiveness and advocacy for people with disabilities.

The event which was part of commemorating this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities, aimed to send a message of promoting leadership and equal opportunities for people with disabilities in all areas of life.

In an interview with journalists,Director of Programs and Development at Beit-CURE Children’s Hospital of Malawi, Davie Simengwa, said their hospital’s goal is to ensure that people with disabilities take lead roles in various sectors, including education and employment.

Said Simengwa:”We want to promote inclusiveness and break down barriers that hinder their participation. We care about people with disabilities and want to ensure they have equal opportunities to succeed.”

On his part,Chair of the Spinal Injuries Association of Malawi (SIAM), Bylon Kondowe, emphasized the importance of promoting leadership positions for people with disabilities.

He stressed that individuals with disabilities are often overlooked for leadership roles, and that it is now time for this to change.

Kondowe encouraged people with disabilities to come forward and take on leadership positions, showcasing their resilience and capabilities.

The event brought together individuals with disabilities from various organizations who hold senior positions, showcasing their achievements and contributions.
