Low voter turnout has been reported by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) at a number of registration locations, especially in Mzimba District.

The sentiments were by Justice Annabel Mtalimanja following her tour of various district centres.

She said she hoped more people would sign up as the deadline drew near.

Due to the rains that started earlier this week, MEC discovered through enquiries that a large number of individuals in Mzimba are busy planting.

Mtalimanja called on all parties involved, including political parties, to push their supporters to register.

She underlined the significance of early registration for individuals without identification cards.

“The National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) has increased civic education efforts in areas where registration is taking place,” said Aaron Luhanga, the civic education officer for Mzimba District.

Luhanga emphasised the need of registering to guarantee that citizens can exercise their freedom to choose their leaders.

Malawi Electoral Commission is presently carrying out the third round of voter registration in Mzimba, Lilongwe Rural, Lilongwe City, Mwanza, Chikwawa, Mangochi, and Nsanje.

I’m single-Janta

By Pemphero Mpho Musowa

When people laughed at Janta for “someone” “chowing” his woman, he used the pain as fuel for some of his hit songs.

From the award winning “Divorce (Banja Ndalilephela)”, which topped charts in 2015 and earned him a UMP Award for Best Video of the Year to other notable tracks including “Chisoni” in 2020.

To “Wangongole” in 2017, which won Song of the Year at the Nyasa Music Awards), to “Nde Nde Nde”, and collaborations like “Ex Lover” with Onesimus who also faced a similar situation with his South African woman.

Interestingly “Divorce” was produced before he even faced his trials and tribulations with his ex wife.

Years later it has become apparent that despite moving on from the heartbeat, gaining fame off it, Janta does not trust women.

In a recent situation down with Podcast Malawi Janta disclosed that he is single despite seeing other women for pleasure.

He clarified that he found messages of his wife and the alleged man flirting when he had contributed to her business and other things.

Janta said he was hurt but decided to move on as a man.

On the music side, the artist who now resides in South Africa said he plans to put out new music next year from his upcoming Extended Playlist titled Lilongwe to Johannesburg.

He pointed out he has a whole package of audios and videos which will take the people by storm.

“We are thrilled to see one of our own graduating as an anaesthesiologist today.

“This is a significant milestone for our country, and we look forward to having more professionals in this field,” said Daud.

The Deputy Minister noted that some graduates received training abroad, highlighting the need for international cooperation in the health sector.

She emphasized the crucial role anaesthesiologists play in the healthcare system, particularly in surgery.

“As a country, we need more anaesthesiologists trained and deployed to our health facilities.

“We urge anyone who can support us to come forward and help us achieve our goal,” said Daud.

CANECSA President Dr. Mpoki Ulisubisya emphasized that the graduating anaesthesiologists will play a critical role in providing quality healthcare services to the people of their respective countries.

Anaesthesiologists are specialist doctors who are responsible for providing anaesthesia to patients for operations and procedures.
