Kalindo advises UTM to put its house in order

By Vincent Gunde

Political activist Bon Kalindo has advised the UTM Secretary General Dr. Patricia Kaliati, Publicity Secretary Felix Njawala to put their house in order claiming that some other senior members of the party are working tirelessly to sale the UTM to Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Kalindo said this is the time for the UTM to have reinforcement pillars so that they go back to where they came from not as DPP but UTM for it to make a united force so that the MCP need not to bounce back into government in 2025.

He said Malawians have already made up their mind for a choice of one from the opposition parties advising AFORD, DPP and UTM to practice tolerance regardless of political affiliations to support one from these parties.

Speaking through an audio clip circulating in various social media platforms, Kalindo has thanked the UTM for making a brave decision of pulling out from the MCP Alliance describing this as not a mistake although it has come a bit late.

Kalindo said time has now come for the UTM to know who are the genuine members of the party claiming that the party must bless itself for more arrests and prosecutions of some of its members to silence them so that they are part of government.

He has asked AFORD, DPP and UDF to wake-up for a unity of purpose and not sleeping saying for the first time in the history of the country Identity Cards have been printed in India claiming that over 3 million IDs are in the country.

The activist said the printing of IDs in India has proved that Malawi has no capacity to print Identity Cards but only for passports which is a sacred document raising many questions than answers that why passports are being printed in Malawi while IDs outside the country.

He said there is already news in speculation that over 1.8 million already voted votes are in the country demanding opposition leaders to watch out for this saying MCP is doing all of what it can to remain in government to continue destroying the country.

“1.8 million already voted votes are in the country, NRB and Mec did not consult Malawians on IDs printing in India, today they are coming with a statement that IDs are in the country,” said Kalindo.

Meanwhile, Bon Kalindo on behalf of the poor people in Malawi has sent a message wishing America’s opposition candidate and former President Donald Trump a quick recovery following an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Butler-Pennsylvania.

Kalindo said he and the poor Malawians minus the country’s leaders strongly condemn the assassination attempts promising to be with the American people and Trump during this trying times saying the act must not be given space in a democratic country.

Mtambo: The voice of an age

By Leonard Kavwenje,

As I write this I have just finished reading T.S. Eliot and picture of Mtambo is visiting my meditation again and again.

In life there are some people each one of us looks up to grow and develop in character. One of my powerful sources of inspiration is Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) Vice President responsible for Operations Senior Comrade Timothy Pagonachi Mtambo and indeed a Founder, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Citizens for Transformation (CFT) People Power Movement.

Timothy Mtambo

In good times Mtambo celebrates life with everyone, in bad times Mtambo remains a complete man of understanding.

Mtambo was born a great transformative and visionary leader. His character reminds me of the epical apartheid activist, politician and statesman Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (18 July 1918 – 5 December 2013).

In sour moments, a good leader must be in the forefront of a struggle. In sweet moments, a good leader leader must be at the very back celebrating. You earn respect. Mandela made it. Mtambo made it too.

Today, I write to share one advice Mtambo generously shared with me in private at Latitude 13 Degrees in Lilongwe but forces of meditation forces me to share it in public.

Mtambo advised, _”Young man, if Malawian political landscape is to develop and civilise, as citizens, we must base our politicking games on values and principles of democracy not emotions.”_

My memory is still fresh that on that day I approached him to seek advice on how best young people in Malawi may play politics of modernity.

Today, I communicate the same to my fellow young Malawians, _”As young people, we are the window of hope. Let us shun hatred-based politics (HBP).”_

Hating Mtambo is hating truth. We are not waving but we are drowning…

MCP Convention Marred by Bribery Allegations as Heavyweights Distribute Cash to Delegates

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is facing a crisis of integrity ahead of its August convention, as reports emerge that high-ranking officials are bribing delegates to secure votes.

The allegations have sparked outrage among party members and observers, who fear that the practice will lead to the election of incompetent leaders.

According to sources within the party, several heavyweight politicians have been distributing large sums of cash to delegates who will attend the convention.

The bribes are reportedly being offered in exchange for votes, with the goal of securing positions on the party’s politburo.

“This is a clear case of corruption,” said a disgruntled party member, who wished to remain anonymous. “The people being bribed are not being chosen based on their qualifications or leadership abilities, but rather because they are willing to take a bribe.

It’s a disgrace to the party and to the democratic process.”

The practice is said to be widespread, with multiple sources confirming that several high-ranking officials are involved.

The bribery allegations have created a toxic atmosphere within the party, with many members feeling disillusioned and disenfranchised.

“The MCP is supposed to be a party of the people, but it seems that the only people who matter are those with deep pockets,” said another party member. “This is not what our party was founded on.

We need to return to our roots and elect leaders who are truly representative of the people.”

The bribery allegations have also raised concerns about the legitimacy of the convention and the outcome of the elections.

Many fear that the practice will lead to the election of leaders who are not fit for office, and who will prioritize their own interests over those of the party and the country.

“This is a recipe for disaster,” said a political analyst. “If the MCP allows this practice to continue, it will damage the party’s reputation and undermine the democratic process.

The party needs to take a strong stance against bribery and ensure that its leaders are elected based on their merits, not their ability to pay off delegates.”

The MCP leadership has thus far remained silent on the allegations, but party members are calling for swift action to address the issue.

Many are demanding that the party’s leadership take steps to prevent bribery and ensure that the convention is free and fair.

As the convention approaches, the MCP faces a critical test of its commitment to democracy and integrity.

Will the party allow bribery to determine its leadership, or will it take a stand against corruption and ensure that its leaders are elected based on their merits?

The outcome will have far-reaching implications for the party and for the country as a whole.
