The Minister of Information and Digitalisation, Moses Kunkuyu Kalongashawa, has emphasized the importance of reliable and affordable internet connectivity in driving digital transformation and e-learning across Africa.
Speaking at the E-learning Africa Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Kunkuyu highlighted the potential of e-learning to empower Africa’s youth, but noted that this can only be achieved with the necessary infrastructure in place.
Kunkuyu stressed that African leaders must prioritize digital infrastructure development and make internet access a fundamental right for all citizens.
He called for Pan-African cooperation to address the digital divide and ensure that all Africans have access to reliable and affordable internet connectivity. “There is no e-learning and no digitalization if there is no connectivity,” Kunkuyu said, underscoring the critical role that internet connectivity plays in unlocking Africa’s potential.
Malawi has made significant progress in extending free public Wi-Fi to key urban areas under the leadership of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.
