One of the leading providers of  technical trainings in the country,Rich Turbo Training Centre, on Friday commenced its two-day automotive modernization training program aimed at equipping technicians with the skills needed to thrive in the industry at Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre.

In an interview with 247 Malawi News, the company’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO ) Richard Kaumbata, said the training is in line with the  country’s vision for industrial mobilization and aims to bridge the gap between traditional techniques and modern technologies.

He explained that the training focuses on advanced diesel systems, a crucial component in modern vehicles.

Said Kaumbata:”We are excited to be at the forefront of this initiative, which will enable our technicians to compete globally.”

He said the first cohort of the training program has 19 participants from various companies, including Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) and Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM).

Kaumbata revealed that the centre plans to conduct more trainings to reach a broader audience and provide technicians with the knowledge and skills required to work on modern vehicles.

“We encourage more people to come for our trainings, as technology is changing every day, and staying up-to-date is essential for success in the industry.

“Our goal is to equip technicians with the skills needed to thrive in the modern automotive industry and contribute to the growth of Malawi’s economy,” he said.

One of the participants,Stein Magombo who works as auto technician at ESCOM, described the training as demanding but beneficial.

“The training has been intense, and it is very demanding, but the knowledge being imparted is crucial for us as individuals and for the company.

“We are confident that what we are learning here will be influential and important for the productivity of the company when we return to our workstations,” he said.

Magombo added that the training is necessary due to the rapid advancements in modern vehicle technology, which has rendered traditional skills obsolete.

“The technology we learned in school is not the same as what we have today. This training is equipping us with the knowledge we lacked in modern vehicles, and we are sure we will be able to work with these vehicles intellectually as they come with the latest technology,” he said.

At the end of the training, all participants will receive certificates of attendance.
