Renowned Malawian eating sensation Spanner Malawi has once again proven his unmatched appetite after outclassing five other contestants in a food-eating competition organized by Kalipano Hotel on Wednesday.
The challenge, which drew a lively crowd, tested participants’ speed and stamina in consuming large portions of mitanda a popular local dish.
Spanner stunned the audience when he devoured four full servings in just one and a half minutes before cheekily calling for more to finish off his competitors’ leftovers.
Among those who participated was musician Avokado, who joined the contest for fun but failed to keep up with the eating powerhouse.
Despite his celebrity status, Avokado admitted after the event that “Spanner’s pace is beyond human.”
Spanner’s impressive performance earned him two nights’ accommodation at Kalipano Hotel and a cash voucher worth K250,000. Hotel officials said the event was part of their effort to promote local talent and entertainment diversity.
Speaking after the victory, a visibly satisfied Spanner said he was “honoured to be recognized” and hinted at defending his title if the competition becomes an annual tradition.
The event attracted several local fans, social media influencers and entertainers who hailed the contest as a refreshing twist to Malawi’s entertainment scene.
“It wasn’t just about food; it was about fun, culture and community,” said one of the event organizers.
Spanner Malawi, who has participated in various eating challenges before, continues to build his reputation as Malawi’s unbeatable eating king, combining humor, showmanship and raw appetite that keeps fans entertained wherever he goes.
