Renowned Malawian entertainment personality, Hannah Jabes, popularly known as Tamia Ja, has touched hearts after donating essential items and money to an elderly woman in need.
The gesture, which has since gone viral on social media, saw Tamia Ja gifting the elderly woman a 50-kilogram bag of maize, a bag of soya pieces and MK50,000 in cash.
According to a video shared online, Tamia Ja explained that she was deeply moved after witnessing the old woman being turned away when she asked for help from someone else.

“I saw this grandmother pleading for assistance but the person she approached responded harshly, saying he doesn’t help the elderly. Those words broke my heart. I decided to trace the woman, and when I finally found her, I offered her the little I had,” Tamia Ja said in video.
Beyond providing food and money, Tamia Ja went further by appealing to well-wishers to support the elderly woman so she can start a small business and sustain herself.
The act has been widely praised across social media platforms with many Malawians commending Tamia Ja for showing that kindness does not require wealth but a willing heart.
Commentators online noted that such gestures set a good example, especially for celebrities and the youth, to use their platforms and resources to uplift the vulnerable.
In Malawi, where poverty remains widespread, stories like these resonate strongly, reminding communities about the importance of compassion and solidarity.
Tamia Ja’s selfless act comes at a time when social support systems for the elderly are stretched thin, leaving many to depend on the goodwill of individuals and communities.
