TNM Plc has injected K20 million into this year’s National ICT Innovations Awards, a move expected to boost Malawi’s drive toward homegrown digital solutions.
The awards, organised by the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), are set for April 21, 2026, and aim to recognise and support outstanding innovation in the country’s ICT sector.

Speaking during the cheque presentation on Monday,TNM Chief Commercial Officer Amon Jere said the company’s support reflects its commitment to fostering innovation and investing in Malawi’s digital future.
Jere emphasised the importance of nurturing local talent, particularly among young people, to accelerate the development of homegrown technologies.
He noted that empowering Malawian innovators is key to building sustainable digital solutions that address local challenges while strengthening the country’s technology ecosystem.
On his part,MACRA Director of Finance Mphatso Phiri commended TNM for the timely support, saying the contribution will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the awards.
Phiri added that initiatives like the ICT Innovations Awards provide a vital platform for innovators to showcase their ideas, which can ultimately contribute to Malawi’s economic growth and digital transformation.
