Vitumbiko Mumba exposes internal conflicts in MCP

By Burnett Munthali

Vitumbiko Mumba, the Minister of Trade and Industry, has revealed that some officials within the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) do not wish others well.

He made these remarks during the Zodiak Exclusive program last night, emphasizing that the ongoing political tensions will not deter his ambitions.

According to Mumba, certain party leaders have been tarnishing his reputation and targeting those who supported him during the party’s recent national convention.

The minister has urged Malawians to remain committed to their work, lamenting that many business opportunities in the country are controlled by foreigners.

Mumba has also dismissed allegations that he is actively lobbying to be selected as President Lazarus Chakwera’s running mate in this year’s election.

He clarified that his focus is on serving Malawians rather than positioning himself for political appointments.

His comments come amid growing speculation about power struggles within MCP as the party prepares for the upcoming elections.

Mumba’s statement suggests deep divisions within the ruling party, with some officials allegedly working against their colleagues for personal gain.

The minister’s call for unity and fairness in business ownership aligns with broader concerns about economic control in Malawi.

As the country heads towards the elections, Mumba’s revelations could fuel further debate about MCP’s internal stability.

Political analysts argue that such conflicts may weaken the party’s public image if not addressed properly.

Despite the challenges, Mumba remains confident in his political path, vowing to continue serving Malawians with dedication.

His remarks will likely spark reactions from other MCP leaders, potentially leading to further discussions on the party’s internal affairs.

The coming months will reveal whether MCP can resolve these tensions or if they will escalate into a larger crisis.
