Mnangagwa appreciates the relationship existing between ZANU PF and MCP

President Emerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe’s ruling party ZANU-PF has said he is impressed with the growing relationship between his party and the Malawi Congress Party, (MCP) which dates from time in memorial.

Mnangagwa made the remarks at his official residence in Harare when he hosted Malawi’s Minister of Homeland Security, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma who was in the country representing President Lazarus Chakwera during the swearing-in ceremony of Mnangagwa for his second term of office as Zimbabwe President.

“I am happy that President Chakwera sent a representative. As sister parties, ZANU-PF and MCP share a lot in common including political strategies and policies that have kept our sisterhood flourishing for years now” Said Mnangagwa.

He added that as a country, Zimbabwe and Malawi have a lot in common since the days of the founding fathers of the two nations.

Delivering congratulatory message from President Lazarus Chakwera, Zikhale Ng’oma said Malawi leader is so grateful upon Mnangagwa’ landslide victory in the just ended elections.

“President Chakwera is so grateful upon your re-election as President for Zimbabwe, and he wishes you a strong and good health as you continue leading the people of Zimbabwe” Said Ng’oma.

In a separate interview, Ng’oma said delegated by President Chakwera, his experience in Zimbabwe has proved the strong bond that exists between the two leaders and their parties.

President Emerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa got almost 53% of the total votes in the election which was held on 23rd and 24th August, 2023 beating his contender Nelson Chamisa of CCC party.

Late Mumba’s wife found with case to answer on charges of killing her husband

The High Court in Lilongwe has on Wednesday found the wife of late Professor Peter Mumba, Annie with a case to answer on charges of killing her husband.

The suspect was arrested in 2020 after postmortem results had indicated that Mumba who was a professor of chemistry at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) in Lilongwe had died of acute poisoning.

In his ruling, Justice Mzondi Mvula observed that the conduct displayed by the wife was suspicious saying she delayed to seek for medical help when her late husband fell ill.



Mvula further observed that she delayed in taking Mumba to the hospital when he started complaining of being unwell.

Again Annie is being accused of calling for an ambulance yet they had a fleet of cars in their compound.

Mvula also said that the wife immediately left after her husband’s burial.

The court had since directed that the defence stage of the case will resume in October this year.

In an interview with local media, defence lawyer Innocent Kubwalo said the defence team is ready for the next stage and will parade five witnesses.

The suspect hails from Chituka Village (T/A) Malengamzoma in Nkhata Bay district.

Chitipa United leapfrog Bullets at the top of the TNM Super League

Chitipa United’s hopes of winning their first ever TNM Super league received a huge boost as they beat Bangwe All Stars 2-nil at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 80th minute with Ghedo Lorenzo’s clinical finish before Godfrey Kwiyokwa scored the other goal for Chitipa in the added time.

Chitipa’s victory saw them climb top on the log table with 39 points after playing 21 games followed by FCB Nyasa Big Bullets who have so far accumulated 37 points but have played few games less than than the northern region side.

In another TNM Super league match played on Wednesday, Mafco FC beat Civil Service United 2-0 at Chitowe Stadium.

Stain Malata scored both goals for Mafco in the 31st and 34th minute to give the home side the much needed victory.

Following the win, the Salima-based soldiers are now two steps out of the relegation zone, level on points with Civil who are perched on position 11 in the standings but the Civil servants have a better goal difference.

High court nullifies DPP’s disciplinary committee over Nankhumwa for being unconstitutional

The High Court in Lilongwe through Judge Justice Howard Pemba has on Wednesday nullified the disciplinary committee of the former rulling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) describing it as unconstitutional.



According to Pemba the disciplinary committee was composed of seven members instead of five as prescribed by the party’s constitution.

Again Pemba has made the nullification in his default judgment in a case where the DPP vice president for the South, Kondwani Nankhumwa, was challenging his summon to appear before the committee.

Nankhumwa was being accused of flouting the party’s laws by holding political rallies in Blantyre last month.

European delegation satisfied with youth involvement in SRHR interventions

Parliamentarians from Euroupean countries who are in this country have expressed satisfaction with youth involvement on issues of Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR).

Cosmih Poteras a Romanian Member of Parliament said it is very much impressing to see that youths in this country are making strides in issues of mindset change as they are trying to find solutions to creating more initiatives but there is need for more support to help them reach far.

“The young we meet today they are really smart, motivated as well as engaged and I believe they can do the difference.



“When we retain back home I think we should create events that increases awareness in our countries and this may read to some help provided of some organization that are really doing a great job. We discussed about funding and funding is essential in what they are doing they need the funds to provide training services and awareness to people, so that’s what we are going to do when we get back home,” Poteras said.

On his part, Executive Director at Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM), Donald Makwakwa said the engagement of the visiting team with the youths was very important as the country is looking for more youths to take lead in many aspects.

“As an organization we have been working with young people and we listen to them and this engagement has given as an opportunity to exprole more on how best we can engage young people to address there particular needs, like from the discussion we had this afternoon there are quite a number of things we can take and we will take it from there as an organization on how best we can be engaging with Youth Wave as well as other youth lead organizations to advance there rights as young people,” he higlihted.

Executive Director at Youth Wave, a youth lead organization, John Nyirenda feels honored by the deligates but he was quick to react that funding system in this country is not youth friendly and this is affecting most of youth lead organizations as they only operate through self initiative.

He pleaded for a delibarate move from those organizations working with youth to have intention funding that increase young people in there programming by channeling some of there funding percentages to youth lead organizations, that can increase equitable partnership for development.

The one week study tour has been organized and funded by FPAM and it expects to reach more areas.
