Mzuzu is set to come alive with music and celebration as Crispy Malawi and Lulu take to the stage at the Independence Day Concert on July 5, 2025.
The concert, marking 61 years of Malawi’s independence, promises to be an unforgettable evening of entertainment, patriotism, and reflection.

The concert will feature a diverse lineup of artists, including Crispy Malawi, Lulu, Mathumela Band, Sean Morgan, and several others, representing genres such as hip-hop, dancehall, and afro-pop.
Event organiser Rashid Msosa said the mix of artists was designed to cater to different music tastes and promote national pride across generations.
“We decided to feature these artists to represent different music genres to suit the interests of everyone,” Msosa said.
“The afro artist brings traditional sounds, the hip-hop artist speaks to the youth, and the dancehall artist adds energy and fun.”Msosa added.
The concert will not only be about music but also visual excitement, with a fireworks display planned to light up the sky and a photo booth set up for attendees to capture memories.
Crispy Malawi expressed his excitement to be part of the event, saying it’s not just about entertainment but also a chance for people to reflect on the nation’s achievements and renew their commitment to unity.
The concert is expected to attract large crowds from Mzuzu and surrounding districts, offering a rare moment of collective celebration through entertainment and patriotism.
Organisers have assured attendees of tight security and smooth logistics on the day.
