Red Lions have surged to the top of the NBS Bank National Division League (NDL) table after a 1-0 win over Ntaja United on Sunday at Balaka Stadium.
The victory has given them a 3-point lead, and they’re eyeing a return to the elite TNM Super League.
Red Lions are currently on 15 points, followed by Mitundu Baptist and Bangwe All Stars on 12 points each.

Baka City are also on 12 points, but sit in fourth place due to goal difference.
Other results in the league saw Chintheche United beat Mitundu Baptist 3-1, Chilumba Barracks draw 2-2 with Namitete Zitha, and Bangwe All Stars thrash Mchinji Villa 5-2. Ndirande Stars also won 3-2 against FOMO FC, while Baka City beat Jenda United 2-0.
Red Lions’ coach, Malumbo Mkandawire, praised his team’s win, saying they’re happy to secure all three points and will focus on guarding their lead.
Bangwe All Stars’ coach, Isaac Jomo Osman, expressed satisfaction with their improvement game by game but wasn’t happy with conceding two goals.
The NBS Bank NDL is heating up, with several teams vying for promotion to the TNM Super League.
Red Lions are currently in the driver’s seat, but Bangwe All Stars, Mitundu Baptist, and Baka City are all keeping pace.
