Pastor Brian Chafunya, the former Executive Secretary of the Central Malawi Conference (CMC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, has died.
He passed away this morning at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe.
At the time of his death, Pastor Chafunya was serving as the minister of Chiuzimbi SDA Church in Area 25, Lilongwe.
He had previously held leadership roles within the church, including his tenure as CMC Executive Secretary from 2019 to 2022.
The body will be collected from the hospital mortuary and taken to Chiuzimbi SDA Church, where a funeral service will be held.
Pastor Chafunya will be laid to rest on Saturday at Nachiye Village, Traditional Authority Kwataine in Ntcheu.
He is survived by his wife and three children. The church community and his family are mourning the loss of a dedicated servant who served in various pastoral roles, including at Lilongwe Central Church and in Salima.
